A Supercalifragilisticexpealadocious sight for us to see

The playlist of DISNEY songs brought many a wide smile
The opening, a treasured medley of DISNEY in grand style

THE ANIMATED DISNEY REEL, each couple poised to go
Let’s rewind, review each couple’s grand DISNEY show

REEL NUMBER ONE
CHARLIE WHITE AND SHARNA BURGESS
FEATURING A RICHLY GREEN ATTIRED VILLAGE BAND

DWTS2014 James Maslow Writes On His Good Luck Charm, Receiving Perfect Scores, And More

James Maslow tells Parade that Hanna was his “good luck charm” this past week on Dancing With The Stars. Wasn’t she a doll? Below is more and how he’s feeling after receiving four 10’s this week.

I think Hannah’s my good luck charm! That was the first time I got 40, so I might need to fly her back out if I don’t keep my scores up. Getting the first perfect score of the season was pretty surreal. It’s not something I expected, but I was very happy with the performance and to look up and see all tens was amazing.

Peta and I really stepped it up with this dance, and we were aggressive in some of the lifts and the physical things we wanted to accomplish. Honestly, we never had the dance run 100 percent correctly before that performance, so we were very nervous going into it. I was thinking we were either going to get everything and pull the lifts off and it would be a really high score, or we were going to slip and she was going to fall and it was going to be a low score.’

I’m glad I’m with Peta throughout this competition, we have a great camaraderie and we work well together. This piece was the first time I was really able to contribute with ideas and movements because it wasn’t really a ballroom dance and it felt more natural, more comfortable for my body.

The most challenging part of that routine was that last lift. We had originally started with something that was far simpler and easier. It still looked good, but we wanted to challenge ourselves. Nobody has ever done that lift except for pro dancer Tony Dovolani, but in all 18 seasons no celebrity has ever done it. He came in and showed us that lift and said ‘hey, go ahead, use it, try it. Nobody’s ever done it because it’s so hard.’ We took that as a challenge and said ‘let’s go for it, go big or go home.’ We were able to make it look easy when we got it, but trust me, we don’t get that every single time.

More at Parade.

Mark Ballas On Witney Carson: “She completely solidified her place as a pro”

Mark Ballas has written a new blog at She Knows. Let’s just say, he was so thankful to be called safe with Candace Cameron Bure this week. He writes about how nervous he was, but, he felt like he had a little angel on his shoulder telling him they would be ok. He was also sad about the elimination of Cody and Witney, but, one thing is for sure…he thinks Witney “completely solidified her place as a pro”. I totally agree. I definitely would like to see her come back, would you? More below and at She Knows.

When I was standing upstairs before the elimination, I had this gut feeling that we were going to be safe. I was nervous, of course, and I know Candace was too. I felt like I had a little angel on my shoulder telling me we were going to make it through. I felt confident in our dance, and that the fans were going to get behind her. So, a huge thank-you to the fans for voting for us.

I’m sad to see Cody Simpson go because I got really close to him this season. He’s a good kid: very polite, very talented and just sweet all around. It’s a shame to see him go because I enjoyed spending time with him. I’m also upset for his partner, Witney Carson. Witney was one of my students when I taught at her school in Utah, and this is her first season on DWTS. I feel like for her first season, she did an incredible job. She showed that she deserves to be here. I’m not only impressed by the work she did with Cody, but also with Drew Carey last week during the switch-up. In my opinion, she completely solidified her place as a pro here. She has the looks, the talent and the goods to back it up and be successful on the show. I think at some point, she will have a Mirror Ball trophy under her belt.

Red Foo To Guest Judge Next Week, Carrie Ann Inaba Writes On DWTS Week 5 And Defends Her Judging

Carrie Ann Inaba has penned a new blog at Parade. She was sad and shocked to see Cody Simpson and Witney Carson eliminated this week on Dancing With The Stars. She writes, “First of all, no one saw that coming. Cody has 6.5 million twitter followers. I thought for sure his fans would keep him in. Where were they for him when it mattered?” That’s what I wondered too!! She also defends how she judged Amy and Derek. I’ve heard both sides of the argument on this and I still believe Carrie Ann did the right thing and what she writes below seals if for me even more….

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough–when she dances, it’s hard not to notice the miracle that is happening. It really is incredible to see in person; it’s something that can’t be ignored. She is dancing without the bottom half of her legs, so there are some things she just can’t do. They have to find a new technique to make things work. I couldn’t take off for the lifts last night because she can’t feel if her feet are still on the ground like everyone else. Also, it is very hard for Amy to come down the stairs. I have noticed that they are always carrying her down the stairs, so I couldn’t take off for that lift either. I know some people are upset with me about this, but I have to live with my scores as well and I have to do what I believe in and I did not think that it’s fair to take off a point for something that she can’t feel. For anyone who can feel whether or not their feet are on the floor, I feel it is fair to take off a point because lifts in certain dances are just not allowed. But that is not the case here. Anyway, it was a beautiful performance and wouldn’t it be kind of cool if Disney did make their next princess someone like Amy?

Be sure her full blog at Parade. Note to how she mentions Red Foo from LMFAO is the guest judge next week which will be perfect for Party Anthem Week!

New Afterbuzz TV Episode For DWTS Season 18 Week 5

Below is the new Afterbuzz TV episode for Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Week 5. Kristyn was out of town on business last night (cries, miss you Kristyn!) so Suri ran the show. Julz Tocker and Anna Trebunskaya help her in breaking down the dances….and the judges too. Let us know what you think and if you agree with them on everything!

My thoughts for now (and maybe more later in comments): The more I listen to Anna talk, the more I’d like to see her be a guest judge on the show. However, I didn’t agree with her thoughts about Carrie Ann and how she didn’t call Derek and Amy for their lifts. I think Carrie Ann did the right thing. Afterall, and in the end, it’s not like she gave them a perfect score, did she?
