Candace Cameron Bure Talks About Her Transformation On Dancing With The Stars Season 18
Candace Cameron Bure talked about Dancing With The Stars with ABC’s Entertainment Pop. She never thought dancing would be so challenging. It’s one of the most exciting and most nerve racking thing she’s ever experienced. Lots more below including her secrets of keeping it all together as a busy working mom and wife.

ETA: Here is Cameron on Hannity talking about her religious beliefs and Dancing With The Stars.
I think Candace has grown in her dancing and this past Monday showed it the most. Looking forward to seeing more of her blossoming out on the dance floor. She is a good role model for all young women. Good Luck Candace.
What a lovely woman Candace is and this is an excellent interview. While I don’t necessarily share some of her personal family values, I respect her. She’s a classy, intelligent lady and becoming a much better dancer than she’s given credit for. I feel she’s being treated rather shabbily by TPTB.
I’m very glad she told the interviewer the show made a whole lot more out of her costuming storyline than there was to it. She was honest without bashing the producers (which is a whole lot kinder than they are to the celebs). On the whole, I think she’s looked very good in her costumes. As she said, they’re modest by the standards of the show but still sparkly and attractive.
On a side note. I thought she looked gorgeous in this interview; her dress was so visually interesting and fit her beautifully.
It’s nice to see that child stars can grow up into good people. I think Mark has done a great job with her costumes, and I hope she can come out Monday nite and just have a blast. Maybe working with the other couples on the team dance will help her overcome some of her nerves.
Agreed, PJ. It’s sad that she’s getting more nervous rather than less so as the weeks go by. Perhaps some of that is the unkind things she’s read on Twitter/Instagram and maybe even the really supportive comments have made her feel she now has so much to live up to. In any case, I would love for her to use her biblical inspiration (whatever it is) to find and commit to the character of the ATango and give us a great dance.
@Cidra …Candace should know that her personal Christian life will also bring persecution; and, that what’s in her heart is most important and not what the world thinks. If she stays, I think we will see her nerves calm down and her competitive side come out.
I checked out Candace’s Facebook page, and the nasty comments were coming from fellow “Christians” (in quotes because they didn’t sound very Christian) who were saying she shouldn’t be on this immoral show and they watched for the first time just for her but were outraged by her behavior.
She posted something about how her journey on the show was making her feel happy, confident and sexy and they took big issue with the “sexy” part – she had to post something about how it wasn’t flaunting sex to entice men. (Has Candace done that on the show? If so, I missed it.) And they had a problem with her agreeing to The Little Mermaid costume.
I don’t know if Candace got any anti-Christian comments, but it seems to me like she’s being persecuted more viciously for not being Christian enough than she is for being Christian.
@Libby…no reflection on you….
It’s so easy to sit behind a computer and type judgement on her. And if they are Christians who posted on her Facebook, passing judgement is God’s work and maybe they need to get the log out of their own eye and not worry about the speck in another’s eye. Too much judging going on in the world and not enough “Love”. In a Christian’s life the Holy Spirit disciplines for no one knows a persons heart better.
Candace wears less than the Little Mermaid costume when she swims. Just hypocritical nonsense.
To give you guys some understanding of what’s going on, Candace has said some things to her Christian audience that are quite different than what she’s saying now on television. When she got called out on some of those things, she got defensive. Some people who followed her when she couldn’t get her career off the ground feel she misrepresented herself to get a Christian audience when she couldn’t get a secular one. If that makes sense.
She lived here with her husband for a few years, and I’ll just say that she’s way different in person than the person you see on television.
I love seeing how excited her kids get when she dances. She should focus on that, and on modeling the behavior that she knows will bring them the happiest life. If it stops being about her, and starts being about her kids, I think she could lose the nerves, no problem.
Carlie…why are you making a point to inform us about Candace? I don’t know the woman personally and this is just a TV Dancing Show. I’m not concerned about what some people feel, I am enjoying watching her (as well as others)learn to dance.
@KK – Just explaining the Facebook comments.
@Carlie
I checked her Facebook and read many nice supportive comments too, and some of them actually know her. Like I said, I enjoy watching her learn to dance and I always loved Full House. I am really loving this season with all the good dancing and great personalities. Can’t wait for Monday with Latin week and Team dances.
Check out the first post for another interview with Candace and Hannity last night (or maybe this took place on Thursday?) talking on dancing and her Christian beliefs (she dissed liberals while doing so. she shouldn’t have went there imo)!!
After listening to the Fox interview, now I can see why she’s getting some slack. Bring politics into it and diss other parties and she’s going to have problems. I have to say my opinion of her has just changed some. Then again, although I liked her spirit and how she was like a ray of light on the dance floor, I haven’t been a big fan to her dancing anyway.
Adding: not sure if “diss” is the right word? All I know is I wish she wouldn’t have brought politics into it.
Yeah, Vogue, that’s what I mean. Some people feel she’s playing both sides for votes. I don’t know if she is, but I do understand why some people might feel duped. I personally don’t like it when the show becomes about political things, or too much about a celeb’s personal life. Just my personal preference.
Fox is the network for her to voice anti-liberal views! I have heard she is quite a different person than she is portraying on screen. Not sure what that means but not as nicey nice. She has an edge to her from some of her tweets and unscripted paparrazzi interviews. Actually, she reminds me a bit of Mark Ballas when he gets annoyed.
Let’s not make this political, please.
Yeah, it’s been my experience that the “Christians” are the meanest set around. I guess if you are mean, then you pray for forgiveness, it’s all good.
Although not as bad (yet), I am having Bristol Palin flashbacks a little.
#19 PH … Preach! … Oh — I mean, uh, True Dat!!
@Carlie – I appreciate the background on Candace. I know she admitted in her book that she lived with her husband for a year before they got married and said everyone “assumed” she was staying a virgin until marriage because she’d once said years earlier that she would. I can’t find it anymore, but I could have sworn she used to have up on her website a Christian magazine cover story she and Valeri did when they were engaged where she claimed they were “pure” and all they did was kiss. Or at least strongly implied that. The article is no longer on her website.
So I guess I can understand why people who follow her more carefully than I do think her story changes depending on who she’s talking to and when.
Thank you for watching the video and posting what she said on it Vogue. I don’t like to watch certain channels, so I appreciate it.
She might have a good AT on Monday night. She tends to get the deer in the headlights look on her face whenever she’s not dancing in contact with Mark. She has one of those expressive faces that lets you know immediately that she’s thinking “Oh crap! I have to dance by myself now! Everyone’s looking at me! Maaarrrkkkk!”.
With Argentine Tango she’ll be in contact with Mark almost the whole time, and I think it’ll suit her athleticism.
But whether she does good or not is kind of a moot point at this stage of the game. The writing’s on the wall with regards to her longevity in the competition.
YW and thanks too! 😉 x
I know nothing about her except for having watched Full House, but I did not sense a “better than thou” attitude and I am glad she was able to made the point about the scoring while being polite and positive. I enjoyed both interviews.
@PHeidi…
I am a Christian of 36 years and I don’t believe in spewing hatred and always try to see the good in everything and keep more on a positive level.
However, those Christians who do not show the “love one another as I have loved you” character of Christ, are treading on thin ice and it will have its consequences. I’m sad that those who do practice ‘love one another’ are judged by the world also. And, I apologize to anyone who has incurred any kind of “mean” treatment. There is a “nice” lot of Christians also in the world.
@Vogue….I agree and a little disappointed that political parties where mentioned and she did mention that some conservatives don’t understand her views also. This is a TV dance show not a political campaiyne.(sp)However, I wouldn’t have expected much less being that Hannity is a Conservative and so is the network station.
It doesn’t affect my voting as I have two favorites who I have been voting for all season and so far they have keep my attention. But, if I like a certain dance another does, I will give them a thumbs up for that week.
You don’t owe an apology, KKat. It’s hardly your fault that some Christians are so far into it that they come out on the side of hatred.
It’s interesting – I know lots of people who aren’t particularly religious but who are better representatives of what it means to be a good person than some Christians I know.
@PHeidi…ITA ….on a more humorous note: Dogs are perfect examples of a true christian because they love “unconditionally.” (I’m a dog lover) I currently have a little male 8 yr. old Yorkshire/Bishon. He my 4th in my life time. After my two girls were grown and on their own I went through that “empty” cradle syndrome so they got me a puppy. That cured it since I had something else to nurture.
I like you…you say it like it is. 🙂
Thanks, Kat – I try. And it’s rarely appreciated. 🙂
Couple of personal observations. How can weak content, mistake laden performances receive 9’s? Other dancers performed high content, high difficulty dances received the same score? It is very hard to watch inferior dancers stay much longer than they should; much better ones get voted off simply because of fan base. Outrageously unfair. Christians should not be hypocrites — Candice throwing herself at Maksim was in very poor taste for a self proclaimed Christian; and obvious to all: Mark, Meryl, Derek, ABC, and all who watched rehearsal for team dance. Shame on you Candace.
Maybe you will write another prideful, boastful book about how well you handle life.
Feel sick to my stomach after watching tonight’s DWTS. Again, low content,sloppy performance by Candace receiving high scores. Followed by easy contemporary dance where she didn’t have to do anything was ridiculous–more high scores.
Your confidence in yourself is absurd.
Real champions would not, 1) be so exuberant while more talented dancers get voted off, 2) feel deserving receiving unwarranted marks for weak performances.
I am shocked at how pompous you are. You should be feeling so inadequate, but your sense if self is too high to see it. Open your eyes.
I cannot believe how unfair this show is,
Jesus, Rebecca – ease up. Of course Candace should be exuberant for staying. As for the show being unfair? Duh. This is the way it’s always been.
Yes, another week to show everyone how wonderful she is — maybe we’ll see her rehash her dances for a third/fourth time instead of learning new ones.
