Express Yourself: We Love And Will Miss Sharna Burgess On DWTS And Here’s Why……
We here at PureDWTS could not be more devastated and saddened to learn Sharna Burgess has not been picked as a pro for Dancing With The Stars Season 19. If you need a way to voice this like we do, please fill in the blank in comments and maybe producers will hear our cries!!
We love and will miss Sharna Burgess on Dancing With The Stars and here is why: _______________(fill in the blank).
My thoughts:
…..BECAUSE Miss Sharna is one the most lovely, most passionate, most powerful, and most creative choreographers and dancers this show has ever ever had. I will miss her greatly because she is also one of us. She is a caring person and she truly truly cares about everyone. She will forever be one of my most favorite dancers that was ever produced. These pictures say it all for me. Please TPTB, find a way to her include her on this show.
I can’t say it any better than Vogue did.
Because she is one of the most talented and creative pros the has ever and will ever have, and she’s also one of the sweetest and kindest pros ever, she also comes across as very real.
Sharna worked wonders with Andy Dick for me. She took a celeb who everyone worried about and disliked and made him a fan favourite in the season. He couldn’t have done that without her.
I think this should be done for Henry as well – I feel like he really got screwed over this season. 🙁
Because she is a gorgeous dancer and even better & more crrative choreographer. Think dwts made a big mistake not including her this season, and one I really hope they correct next season. Outside if Cheryl & Karina, I thought she should have been dwts top priority to bring back for the females
For starters I’ll just say: jazz with Andy and jazz with Charlie!!
Because she got royally screwed over last season due to the script TPTB were determined to play out. Her choreography was OUTSTANDING and was sacrificed on the altar of that shameful showmance. She brings tremendous positive energy to her partnerships — how else could Andy Dick have accomplished what he did. First big mistake of the season. A cryin’ shame.
Oh Vogue, you’re the best for making this! Thank you.
Because she shows unique, brilliant choreography and theatric additions with costume ideas and characters that haven’t been seen before and borrowed form others.
Because she is mature, passionate, strong and compassionate.
The incredible jazz routine with Andy who couldn’t dance at all and she blew it out the box. The Marry Poppins jazz classic with Charlie. The amazing cha cha routine with Charlie with the unexpected glow applications and black light. The contemporary with Charlie.
These are just off the top of my head.
A real loss for DWTS this season and the viewers.
Sharna is a beautiful and positive soul. She is a rare one in being good at all genres of dance. She knows her stuff. She is a great teacher and brings out the best in her celebrity partners. She has a great sense of humor. She is a very hard worker. She created some very memorable routines on the show. She stayed strong and didn’t let it affect her work, despite all the nastiness directed towards her and Charlie by the TPTB all season long. Sharna never went with the drama/showmance and I greatly admire her for it. All she cared about is great dancing. I know she will be successful in whatever she does. It really is the show’s loss, not her’s.
Thanks Vogue for starting this post!
I’ll miss Sharna because in MY opinion, she’s the best female choreographer currently on the show! She showed it with the many dazzling routines she created with Charlie White last season and wow! Look how far she took Andy Dick!! She shows true appreciation for all of her fans! She’s a terrific dancer!
Sharna, if you read this, know that many of us are truly saddened that you’re not gonna be on S19 🙁
Honestly, I am SHOCKED that Sharna isn’t back. She is in my top 3 favorite female pros ever to be on the show (Karina, Emma, Sharna) at least in terms of choreography.
I was so excited to see the announcement today about the pros returning but when I realized Sharna wasn’t on the list, it was sort of a buzz kill. Her and Charlie were FANTASTIC last season as well as with Andy before that.
She is one of the most creative, funny, passionate, and amazing dancers to have ever been on the show and I am seriously sad that she isn’t returning.
#IfSharnaLeavesWeRiot
The actively interesting question to me is why the showrunners weren’t willing to bring her back. Is this a Chelsie situation where they thought she wasn’t racy and seductive enough? Is this an Edyta situation where there was personal bad blood? Did Sharna want a raise? This is an odd move on the surface.
Yes, Thank You…Vogue! So sweet of you to respond to this request.
I think Sharna is a beautiful and real person, who has great dancing ability and choeography. What she did with Andy Dick was nothing short of AMAZING!!! And, I loved the comedy she was able to put into their choreography to synchronize with Andy comedian character. Last year, Sharna did a great job with Charlie in her choreographing, even though I thought the music choice on a couple of the dances styles was way off the wall and didn’t match their dance style. The Disney Dance was so outstanding and she rocked in that choreography.
YW Guys and this post was Miss Heidi’s idea after talking on it privately with Lori and Court. We’re all just disgusted.
And speaking of disgusted, there could be another post coming too on some other things. Stay tuned.
Thanks for all of your replies so far. Keep them coming!x #LoveYouMissSharna
And thank you too Kat for this idea!!!
Thanks PH and the Pure angels for this post. You guys are are a real class act!
#6 voiced my feelings exactly. I can not believe Sharna won’t be on Season 19. So sad!
Words can not convey how disappointed I am that Sharna will not be back as a Pro. Her creativity, passion, and kindness will be missed. I felt that she really worked with her “Stars” to bring out the best in them and did it in a kind, respectful manner. Many of her dance routines were memorable and different. Not having Sharna as a Pro is a great loss to this DWTS fan.
I felt the same way last year when Tristan was not brought back as a Pro.
I’m just so angry with how it went down. It takes away the friendly fun on the show to not even give someone a phone call letting them know.
I would also like to thank you…. PHeidi for having thoughts on doing this also, as I didn’t know until just now. We sure appreciate you all for making this such an enjoyable DWTS site, especially all the work you do keeping up during each season’s showings.
Sharna made her partners on the show shine. She made them become better dancers. She went thru the hard work of choreographing for their strong points intelligently and always produced work that was enjoyable to watch and replay over and over. She showed care and instilled confidence in her partners and that came out in their performance. She did not settle for covering up her celebs with her amazing body and dancing, but brought out the best in them. And now for doing it the hard way and putting all the work and dedication she is being put aside !!! Watch any of the group dances and girl dances and see who shines. Sharna you are too big a star for them to handle. Hope DWTS recognise that
I am so disappointed that Sharna isn’t a pro. I never ever even considered she wouldn’t be back because she is just SOOOO phenomenal. She took someone with a shattered soul, helped him smile again, furthered his sobriety and we saw the comedian many of us had loved. She took a guy who was good based on his experience to incredibly awesome. She has the ability to reach into a person’s soul and get the best from them while laughing, smiling, and encouraging them. This decision by the showrunner, the producers or who the heck is in charge of DWTS is stupid, stupid, stupid. If your excuse is you wanted to bring in a breath of fresh air to the female pro’s like Allison….you chose the wrong one to get rid of. Perhaps oh powers that be you should have listened to what the viewers think about various female choreographers. Shame on you.
Henry was only on one season and hasn’t really proved himself. And, as others have noted, he’s kinda turned into a stealth douche. Love that phrase.
Honestly, cane or no, that Disney Jazz dance was BRILLIANT. And Andy’s Jazz…also brilliant. She’s right up there as a choreographer. And lord knows we need more brunette’s on this show.
I was so looking forward to seeing Sharna this coming season as she was one of the pros that I really admired for their choreographies and
their personalities. She did an awesome job with Charlie which is so much more than I can say about the awful showmance that the producers
much preferred.
You just lost another viewer.
Sharna took risks which I love. Next to Derek and even Mark ( whose risks don’t always pan out) her choreo is memorable and showcases her celeb. We are lacking that from pros besides Mark and Derek. Karina is also creative. I also loved that she was not willing to play the producers game. Rather have Sharna who is supportive of all and genuine and risk taker than Tony who is dull and knows how to kiss *** and bore. Says something when after just three seasons she has done two iconic dances with two very different partners yet I struggle to remember Tony’s dances after all these years.
Wait, what?! I didn’t know he turned into a bit of a d-bag. Aww that really disappoints me. 🙁
Oops- sorry for the double post!
So many beautiful words about Sharna. What I’m gonna miss the most is her integrity. We just knew that she would never take “the showmance route”.
I respect that it is up to the producers which pro is asked back or not. What I don’t respect is how they handled it. I mean, not even a phone call to let her know that she is not in? That’s a pretty low blow 🙁
I, ditto everything Vogue has said and am so disappointed that she will not be back as a Pro. Why do we watch this show? We want to see exemplary dancing and wonderful choreography and she and her dancing are memorable. I watch the Rumba that she and Gleb did on Season 17–Take Care– so lovely. Absolutely loved her Jazz “Mary Poppins”watch over and over. She did such an incredible job with Andy and Charlie, wanted to see more. I met and saw her in BWAT in Cheyenne, she is such a beautiful person in all respects. All her dances where memorable. She will be missed, the current Pro’s have big shoe to fill. Hope the producers will bring her back in some way.
#6, 7 & 21 ITA with everything you said. I was tearing up!
She’s done so many wonderful memorable routines:
Andy’s Poker Face/Alice in Wonderland Jazz, Andy’s Viennese Waltz
Charlie’s Contemporary, Mary Poppins Jazz(always makes me ridiculously happy), neon Cha-Cha, Quickstep, Samba, and Foxtrot.
Sharna’s always brought it. What a mega talent. Excellent teacher–she really works hard to capture the personalities of her partners through her choreography, whether it was Andy Dick’s humor or Charlie’s exuberance. She made them shine, front and center. Brilliant choreographer–She took someone with no dance ability and a shady reputation and made him a fan favorite with her heartwarming routines. She took an Olympian in his prime and created some of the most creative, dynamic, and difficult routines we’ve ever seen while capturing our hearts with their genuine spirits. Lovely person–Honest and loving, but never rude or passive aggressive. She definitely wore her heart on her sleeve. She was real, and such a breath of fresh air.
I hope this is just a break and not the end of her on DWTS. She’s only been a pro a short while, but because we haven’t seen all that she’s capable of yet it makes me more upset. As in, I feel like her ideas are endless. I wanted her to come back S19 and win it for her partner. I could actually cry and I’m never this passionate about the pros.
On a lighter note, She’s so beautiful and I’ll miss seeing another fierce brunette in pro numbers. Too many blondes, I can’t tell them apart. But Sharna always stands out.
I laughed out loud at the comment “lord knows we need more brunettes on this show” – true that, even though Sharna’s a natural blonde.
Seriously, though, her dancing caught my eye when she was a member of the troupe – that girl is fierce! I liked her work with Andy Dick, especially how supportive and nurturing she seemed. And she and Charlie White were superb together (and I agree they got hosed by TPTB). I was shocked and disappointed to learn she won’t be a competing pro on Season 19. She is one of the most creative choreographers currently on the show.
I will miss Sharna because of her brilliant choreography, because of her passion she exhibited with her partners. Because of her smile and enthusiastic approach to all she does. Because I just met her this past Sunday and thought I would be seeing her as pro again.
I will always adore Sharna for what she did during her first season as pro: she managed to take a much-maligned, lost soul struggling with addiction and gave him a reason to stay sober, as reason to look forward to each new day that didn’t involve numbing himself with drugs, and a way to redeem himself to a scrutinizing public – and even through all the tears and the cruelty from the judges, she managed to hold her head high.
I will always appreciate Sharna’s generosity to us here at Pure, both as mods and our readers – she was always eager to answer questions from fans, even if we weren’t a huge, far-reaching, connected outlet with tons of money and influence. It started when she was just a new troupe member, an it didn’t stop once she made pro (which is more than I can say for some others). She was always grateful for any exposure we wanted to give her, and graciously gave Vogue SEVERAL interviews throughout her tenure on the show – and for that generosity that she gave our humble little fan-run blog, I will be eternally grateful.
And most of all, I will always respect Sharna for sticking to her guns and maintaining her integrity in the face of some pretty trashy storyboarding that they tried to force upon her and her partner last season. She could have very easily caved into the pressure of the constant bitching from the judges, and churned out some half-assed, cheap choreography in order to get the high score and make the quick buck – but each week, she delivered her best 110%, and chose to challenge Charlie as much as she could while crafting some of the most impressive choreography we’ve seen from her yet. And even when she & Charlie were sacrificed to the alter of the almighty Maksyl showmance, she still held her head high and wished them the best. And it’s her refusal to conform to the storyboarding machine of DWTS which I’m gonna miss the most.
Sharna, you’re gonna be just fine – the universe always rewards those the opt to take the high road (even when it’s the hard road). Rob & Co., so far you’ve started off your first season as EP with some rather bad karma. If this continues, you best believe that a Rob Wade parody Twitter account is going to crop up – and it’s not gonna be pretty.

Reading your post made me even more sad for what the TPTB did to her. 🙁 Sharna is so down to earth when it comes to connecting with her supporters. She is a sweetheart.
Beautiful Court^ *criessssss ((((((Sharna)))))) xxxxx
This just makes me more mad. Bad enough that the show treated her and Charlie like crap, now this.
The direction that this show is taking is also not my cup of tea. They are almost getting rid of the ballroom dances which I really enjoy and going more with contemporary. I am really sad because this is the only reality show that I watch and has ever watched. I don’t watch TV that much and now DWTS makes it harder and harder for me to watch the show.
What everyone else said.
When I heard that Andy Dick was going to be on the show I cringed. But Sharna found the hidden gem in Andy and with her creativity allowed Andy to spread his wings, to quickly love to dance, gain some much needed confidence, tell a story and entertain us viewers each and every week.
Sharna made America fall in love with Andy. And for that I say Thank You to Sharna for making me love my show more and more each season.
Honestly, as much as I admire Sharna for her stellar choreography skills and her stunningly watchable dancing, I think it’s her personality and strength of character that I love the most.
She’s a no BS kind of girl with the heart of a lioness and the soul of a poet. She treats her partners with respect and love and her fans with the same.
She’s a rare diamond in a cubic zirconia world.
Perfect tribute courtney!!!
We love and will miss Sharna Burgess on Dancing With The Stars and here is why: She’s an amazing dancer and choreographer! Will miss her wit and those amazing facial expressions!! lol
I may or may not have misted up earlier upon re watching Andy’s Viennese waltz…and realizing we’d never get to see another Sharna routine like that again. 🙁
While I’m going to miss Sharna very much and think she is incredibly talented, I’m not quite ready to write the show off. The man in charge of the group who treated her and Charlie like shit is gone…Rob Wade best not have any other big ass mistakes, cuz there is only so much slack I will cut. He’s already livin’ on the edge with the Switch Up, after last seasons selective vote counting.
Great idea. Sharna will be missed this season, but I won’t be surprised if she’s back on a future season. I’ve loved how proactive Sharna’s been with engaging the fans. Some people can annoy when they do it, but for me it was just Sharna doing what she can to make the most of her time on the show. Hopefully she’ll be rewarded for it.
I can’t even begin to express how disgusted I am with the show for this, beyond saying that I’m not watching until she’s back. And I think Sharna could use some Twitter rioters too.
It goes without saying that Sharna’s choreography was some of the very best the show has ever seen, second only to Derek in my opinion, and if she had more time I’m sure she’d be first. I can’t think of another pro that has it all like miss Sharna does — ability to choreograph both traditional and modern styles beautifully, creativity, musicality, excellent teaching skills and integrity. It is unquestionably the show’s loss.
Sharna, if you’re reading this, know that you will be sorely missed, not only as a choreographer and teacher but as a beautiful human being, transcendent of the show.
No Sharna Burgess ? ? ? My spirit is CRUSHED !
