PureDWTS Season 19 Mini-Spoiler O’ the Day – Sept. 8
Happy Monday, kids! Only 7 more days until the premiere 🙂 Thanks to everyone who took the time to leave such kind, sweet words on yesterday’s mini spoiler post – you guys are the lifeblood of this site, and the reason I do what I do 😀
Catch up on all of our previous mini-spoilers here. Today’s mini spoiler after the jump…
So we’ve talked about couples that are doing well (Alfonso & Janel) – but what about the couples that aren’t doing quite so hot in practice right now? According to Deep Throat, Tommy is about what you’d expect in rehearsal – in other words, kind of a hot mess. Really struggling with choreography, and Peta doesn’t seem 100% sure how to handle him. DT is predicting a pretty early elim for Mr. Chong, unfortunately 🙁 Also struggling? Michael, who DT says is “not a natural mover”…but unlike Tommy, Michael seems really eager to work hard and get it right, and he and Emma have a great rapport. Second coming of Bill Engvall, perhaps? 😉
I find it weird tbh how weak (no dance experience) some of the male celebs seem to be. They have no dance experience and are older which just makes the recovery time from sore muscles longer. I would have thought that the producers would have wanted a male celeb to win this year but, other than Alfonso, who has a chance? Unless Michael, Tommy, Tavis are fan favs it seems the season is set for Janel, Lea or maybe Bethany. I know there are always surprises though.
Aww, sorry to hear about Tommy and Michael not doing so well in rehearsals. Peta got her work cut out for her this season. A good learning experience for her, I think. I do hope that the two gentlemen will be ready for their first dance, at least. I also hope that the first elimination won’t push through on the 16th, just a day after the premiere! TPTB, I want to get to know the celebs more, ya know.
I don’t think T Chong is that bad especially since he’s done it a bit I think the producers want him to leave early because of some of his interviews so watch for the judges to be overly critical
I can’t wait to read about Bethany and Derek. I hope they’re not spared from spoilers because I have a feeling they’re amazing.
I don’t think Tommy is leaving until week 3 or 4. C’mon, I cracked up when I saw team name, ( Chongatroyd, really? )imagine that dance 😀 It’s gonna be epic 😀
He may stick around because everyone loves a train wreck 🙁 I just hope anyone who signs on to do the show is dedicated to the commitment and takes it seriously and works hard.
@Elena – I can’t think of a single instance when a couple’s team name alone helped them stick around. As amusing as “Chongatroyd” may be to you, keep in mind that the bulk of the viewing audience doesn’t keep up with what’s going on with the show on the internet, and that’s primarily where you see the team names used. And judges’ scores matter – if Tommy can’t master his choreo and does a crappy dance, he’s gonna have a hard row to hoe.

No, I get it, I was joking:) It’s just I’m really interested to see him dance because of that hip action on GMA announcement haha 🙂 Yes, but Billie D made it to week 3, so I guess he has a shot…
Just wanted you to know, I love these spoilers!! They are so fun!!! Interesting spoiler today. I’m in the older age group and I can’t imagine doing what this show requires of your body so I give serious props to Tommy and Michael. Michael’s good attitude and Emma having been through this before, no doubt gives them a leg up on Tommy and Peta. I think it is good for Peta to try and figure this out. She hasn’t had this before, it’s definitely time she think outside the box. I feel for Tommy just because I can only imagine how daunting this is. I’m so looking forward to the first show. I didn’t think I would be excited but you know what? I am, ha, ha!!!!
Love these daily nibbles, and I got a delightful double-dose today since I missed yesterday!
Guess I can’t say I’m surprised with Deep Throat’s revelations. Tommy strikes me as too much of a free-spirit to buckle down to learning choreography and Michael’s gangly physique just doesn’t scream “ballroom/latin dance phenom” to me.
I’m charmed by Michael and adore Emma. So I hope Michael has a breakthrough and finds his dancing mojo. On the other hand, while I’ve got no beef with Tommy, he doesn’t interest me (and neither does Peta). So in the harsh realities of the show, I’ll throw Tommy and Peta under the bus to save Michael and Emma. Hope the NASCAR fans “stand by their man”.
I can’t really begrudge Tommy if he’s struggling and not super-invested in improving – he’s 76 years old, and probably not as thrilled about doing the show as someone like Betsey, Antonio, Alfonso, etc. Like Billy Dee, I think he might be realizing the physical limitations that come with his age – it may be for the best that he leaves early if he’s really struggling. And I think this is gonna be a good learning experience for Peta – this is the first partner she’s had that’s had any sort of physical limitations. Up until now, she’s had young, able-bodied partners that have been able to do just about anything she’s thrown at them. We may see her get more creative to work around Tommy’s limitations.
I love these daily nuggets!
Waltrip totally reminds me of Bill. 🙂
I think it’s worse when you have someone young like Sean Lowe, who is completely uncordinated than someone who really can’t do stuff. I don’t think Peta is really up for the challenge like I think Emma would be, but who knows.
And, just a suggestion: maybe open a topic about week 1 jives. Those 3 are early favourites, and since pros said jive is one of the hardest dances, maybe there’s a plan to give them the hardest dances first so there can be a sense of tremendous improvement with the viewers and 10s all over the board somewhere at week 5 maybe…
Emma proved with Bill that she’s quite good at using her partners natural charm and likability to makeup for a lack of natural dance ability. If she keeps him relaxed yet focused and reminds him to have fun, then I think they’ll be okie-dokie.
I feel kinda sorry for Peta, but Tommy might pull a Keyshawn: he might realize the first week that he really has to try. Plus, if he ends up at the bottom of the leader board, I don’t think he’ll go home – PH, statistically, how often does the person with the lowest score week 1 actually go home that week?
I think Michael is exceptionally likable. That will certainly carry him far. I don’t think he will go as far as Bill Engvall, thanks to Alfonso, Bethany, Lea, Janel, Jonathan, Tavis, Antonio, and Sadie. (Although, I wouldn’t mind Janel going home fairly early…)
You can’t tell without including all the scores of the bottom and top people, Aviva….or the scores of everyone. It Tommy gets 10 total points and everyone else is 21 or higher, clearly he’s hugely likely to go home. Without all that info, it’s a meaningless discussion.
Tommy is a comedian and he will, I suspect, maybe another Andy type. Peta is going to have to put her skills to works in a different way with him.
Michael Waltrip has a great personality and he is a competitor by nature. I remember when he first started in Nascar. Emma will do great with him.
Tavis has a good chance of staying longer, since he has Sharna and she can pull out some pretty creative choreography for her partner.
I wish them all the best. We are now in COUNT-DOWN WEEK.
I know who Tommy Chong is and I was under the impression he is “high” or “stoned” on a daily basis or maybe that is all an act? If it’s true, wouldn’t that make it very difficult to learn and retain choreography?
@Liz – Well, yeah – he’s a known pothead. He’s also 76, and I can’t imagine the combination of the two makes for vast amounts of mental clarity 😛
@Courtney-LOL Thanks for clearing that up. Can’t imagine it’s been any fun for Peta if he’s stoned. I wonder if she gets high just from being next to him all day……
I heard him say in an interview that he won’t be smoking while he’s doing this.
