Julianne Hough On Judging DWTS: “It’s all about honesty and tough love” (New Interview And Pics)

The Insider interviewed Julianne Hough on her love life (I think she has finally found “the one” and what a sweet, down to earth, and genuine guy!). They also ask Julianne about judging Dancing With The Stars. ‘It’s all about honesty and tough love” much like the way she teaches dance. More below. Picture above courtesy of Getty Images.

ETA: If you can’t see the video below, see this link.

ETA2: You can also read another new interview at TV Guide. Below is a take. Thanks to Abby for the heads up!

Now that there are four judges on the panel, will we be seeing any guest appearances?
Hough: I think so. I think that grumpy old Len still has to go back and forth to the U.K. for the show … so I’m sure there’s going to be a few weeks where we either add or replace Len for a week or something like that.

This is the first season that Conrad Green won’t be producing the show. Can fans expect any other big changes under new boss Rob Wade?
Hough: This isn’t the same show that I was on. It’s the same idea obviously, but it’s a new show. It’s revamped. The dancing, the performances, the skill level has gone up so much, so dramatically from the time that I was on to now. … As much as it’s coming home to my family, it’s like my family’s all grown-up now and it’s like a whole new show. I’m really excited.

What do you think about this season’s cast?
Hough: We have some celebrities that have been around for a long time, but some new fresh faces that are exciting that we might not know very well, because maybe we don’t watch Duck Dynasty or Pretty Little Liars. … It’s exciting to see and grow with our celebrities and not have a preconceived notion of who they are. … I think these are all people that we’re going to be on the journey from Day One with them, with almost no expectation. The only person that I would feel like we have a little bit of expectation from would be Alfonso, just because of the Carlton dance. But that’s literally the only one. I think for everybody else, it’s kind of like … we’re going to be on that journey with them. We have no expectation, which is really exciting.

Dancing with the Stars Season 19 – “What do you mean I’m a ringer??” Update

Introduction

A couple of seasons ago, I created a set of criteria with which to measure the benefits some dancers on DWTS have compared to the other dancers. That is, ringers versus non-ringers. I attempted to be as logical and scientific as possible, although it’s impossible to remove all subjectivity from the issue. But it’s far better than simply saying “so and so isn’t a ringer, IMO”. In your opinion? If your opinion is purely subjective with no effort at logical or rational thought, then what good is it??

No good at all, actually. The original series sprung from an effort to debunk the old, tired and stupid claim that the only reason Derek does well is because he gets all the good partners and no one else gets them. Utter BS, of course. It would be a good idea to read that series before starting this one as I can’t guarantee that I’ll include all the same rationale this second time around and I don’t take well to discussing a subject with someone who is so rude as to not read the blogs. I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
