Dancing With The Stars Season 19 Week 1 Interviews After The Dance And More Goodies (Recap, Videos, Photos)
What a night…and hey, a “colorful” one at that!! Wasn’t the set and the costumes beautiful? I’m still having “awwwww” moments in more ways than one. Photo below courtesy of Adam Taylor from Getty. To view more photos of all the couples dancing, the judges, etc. go HERE. If you missed any of the dances, troupe bumbers, etc, see Ballroom Stars Your Tube.
So, let’s find out what some of the couples thought of their dances with Access Hollywood below. You can also view some new interviews at E Online (we would embed those, but, they always mess up the site). Also, you can read a fun recap and view a fun gallery of photos at ABC7. Also below is a new interview with Alfonso with ABC7 before the show last night. You can also watch Tom Bergeron on The Chew yesterday at this link. Jimmy Kimmel’s predictions are also included below (he’s picking Alfonso to win). Glamour has some backstage coverage and pictures of the cast. Lastly, Heidi was up late last night capping some of the “behind the scenes” action from the official site. You can view what she posted at Pure Derek Hough. More later. We’re just getting started!
I was thinking… dont get me wrong, plz… but Bethany was a lil out-shined in this interview… maybe she was tired, but she will need to keep up w Derek in the interviews too, be in the spotlight w him.
About Jimmy’s prediction, well, it may be right. Alfonso has brought a lot of Carlton in his performance, I mean, he put all the star fever out and did dance quite well!
Love the group pic!!
Great group picture of the cast. Enjoyed ABC7 George’s recap. Glamour’s recap was all about Meryl and Maks’ reunion, not the premiere *eyeroll*. Loved hearing about all the alumni in audience for the premiere. Still crushing on Keo and have now added Randy. 🙂
Hmmm….a twist on Jazz.
#Julliana — I think the problem was that after 47 seconds Shaun turned to Derek and spoke to him for the remainder of the interview, so there was nothing for Bethany to say.
Yeah, Glamour is vomit inducing these days. I think it’s written for 15 year olds.
That Glamour journalist is leading the shippers on like nothing I’ve seen before and the young girls are eating it up. Sounds like Jessica has found her bread and butter.
I love that this cast is so eclectic and that unlike last season, we have a competition. Even though Alfonso is very accomplished there is no ringer air about him. They paired him with a newbie, which I believe levels the playing field. I have to say Chong was my absolute favorite last night. I hope we get to see him many more weeks.
Sadie and Bethany are interchangeable for me at the moment. Both cute. We’ll see how they evolve. Janel, as someone said in another thread is talented, but last night was underwhelming. For what is supposed to be the next big showmance, I see no chemistry. I enjoyed Michael a lot, and am hoping his Nascar nation can help him tread water, I don’t think they should eliminate anyone tonight, but I agree with the majority on who will go.
Yeah, rose, you can sense the pandering, can’t ya? 🙂 I don’t know how well that will work when most of the other media are spouting things like “Maks left the afterparty without Meryl”. Seems to me that while MOST knew that it was just a showmance with nothing real about it (but would talk about it for hits), they are now pointing out that there’s no There there. 🙂
The really sad thing is that not all the shippers are young girls. Some of them are way older than me. That’s very sad.
I agree and I keep running into sources that ask if Meryl and Maks are coming back to DWTS too. Please. Why would they bring them back? When have they ever done that except for the All Stars?
Read an article yesterday comparing couples “formed” during various DWTS which was the “real deal” and which was “showmance” – among then few of Cheryl, Derek and Maks (few of them) they put M&M as showmance – no surprise there… and it wasn’t the only one 😉 ….
I wish people will understand – it never worked and never will … hopefully
I get the feeling Sadie and Mark will be doing some sort of Country-Jazz for their dance which would be so fun! For some reason, I’m totally picturing a Jazz to “Cotton Eyed Joe” right now. Hahaha.
@Juliana I think the problem is that with Julianne being a judge this season, Derek’s bound to get questions about what he thought of her as a judge and all that. Which I hope is just for this week and next week we can get back to the interviewer focusing more on Bethany considering she’s the celeb.
@Heidi – Where did Jessica Radloff get her journalism degree – clown college? What a basic b*tch. Perpetuating a ship that sailed wayyyy back in May is just low-budget and tacky.
And yes, the sad part about the Maksyl ship is that many of the ones captaining it are old enough (far too old enough) to know better. Like, middle-aged housewives and 60+ year-old grandmothers. It’s mind-boggling.
I’m pretty the M&M PDA display last night was to fan the shippers hope so they will go see the Disson show that will feature them dancing together, Makes me puke.
Journalism degree?? What Journalism degree? 😀 Harlequin Romance Degree.
That’s sad when 60+ fall into that shipper fog, and should know better.
As a 64 year old grandmother of 1 grandson & 3 granddaughters, I know the fake romance from the real thing. I was so irritated with Kelly & Val, then M&M with their sickening show-mance. I like to see good dance chemistry and connection between the celebrate and Pro Dancer; but their’s a limit to how far to take it. I thought in S17 & 18 Peta was going to take that route, but she cooled it.
Janel: I haven’t been able to make a connection with Janel, maybe in time. She is a very good dancer, and like the judges said, if she doesn’t overdue it.
Lea: I was pulled toward her. She is sweet and so lady like. She did really good for 53 and she has potential. I hope she stays a long time.
Sadie: Surprised me and she add’s sunshine & cuteness out on the floor. She can dance.
Bethany: Her cuteness and bubbly personality and she also can dance. And, she doesn’t have any past experience. I’m looking forward to seeing these ladies grow on their journey.
Alfonso: I had a feeling that Alfonso was going to knock our socks off. 🙂
Tommy: was a riot and he can move. I was surprised!
Michael: is a lot of fun, and I love to listen to Emma talk.
Randy: did a good job. I would have thought that an athletic in his field would be a little awkward in dance activity; but, he proved me wrong.
Tavis: opened up more than I thought and showed his humorous side along with dance movement.
Jonathan: He has a good attitude, and is having so much fun. He did pretty good for someone green to the art of dancing. He made me smile; but those “eyes” remind me of Elizabeth.(S17)
Antonia: did moderately well, but needs to work on foot work and flexiblity. I didn’t know for sure what to expect, but he just may show much improved in the weeks ahead if he stays.
Betsey: bless her heart, she tried really hard to pull that dance off. Wardrobe failure didn’t help. Maybe next week will be better, if she stays.
LoLo: gave me negative vibes, and her behavior in front of the judges was way out of line. Poor Geo, I feel for him, I so wanted him to last a while to show us his talents in teaching, choreography, and dancing.
I’m not a dance expert but I love watching couples dance; and, I know that when two people are so good together on the dance floor that they dance as though the are ONE, that’s the best dance of the night!
