Janel Parrish Writes On Her New Dance With Val Chmerkovskiy And More
Janel Parrish has written a new blog for People. She writes of last week’s dance and tough love in rehearsals with Val. She also talks on her new dance. Here is more…
We’re doing jazz this week for Movie Night and we’re performing to West Side Story. I’m having so much fun picking out costumes. We have an amazing costume designer. They create everything from scratch and it’s just been a dream. I’m the biggest girly-girl. Any time I see something with sparkles on it, I’m so excited.
I’m really looking forward to this week’s performance. Jazz is really the only dance I have a tiny bit of experience in and I remember really loving it. It’s such a fun dance. And I love Broadway; it’s where I got my start. So this week is going to be a blast for me!

A “tiny bit of dance experience”????? I believe she has extensive dance experience. I guess she is wanting to play it down so that when we see her move we are going to be impressed.
Yeah, the “tiny bit of experience” seems like a major understatement.
Wow liar liar pants on fire, “tiny bit of experience” that is like saying Tommy Chong has smoked a little weed. lol
Queen of understatements, that’s for sure…And I guess they also had the tiniest rehearsal time ever…Poor souls!
So here goes me defending Janel, even if it means she’s a liar: she may actually only have a bit of experience and played it up on her resume. There are SOOOOO many actors that claim skills on their resumes that they do not actually have, or at the very least embellish their abilities. There’s the old saying for the actor: if they ask if you can do it, you say “yes”, no matter what it is. Ride a horse? You tell them you’ve been studying dressage since you could walk. The role requires some foreign language or accent skills? Your grandma was from there and your favorite times as a child were learning German! Dance? Of course, I was in line to study under Baryshnikov but he thought I was too stout, haha. My point is, she may have exaggerated her abilities on her resume. Which makes her a liar, but not anything that most actors do when looking for a break.
Or of course, she’s downplaying much more extensive experience. In DWTS history, that seems to be the most likely case. Either way, I’m not a fan of hers, just something to chew on. Also, I wonder how complicit the producers are in these “cover ups”. Do they think it makes for a better storyline? Or do they think people won’t hear about it? I just find it to be silly. Whatever your experience is, own it and move on.
@Fig- That’s a very good point. Glad to see it sounded like they got it together and Janel’s excited.
