PureDWTS Season 19 Poem For Week 3: “A “Flick”Tastic Motion Picture Show

Lois has out done herself again. Below is a new poem for Dancing With The Stars Season 19 Week 3…

A “FLICK”TASTIC MOTION PICTURE SHOW!

Whether you call it a movie, a cinema, a moving picture

MONDAY NIGHT WAS:

A “FLICK”TASTIC MOTION PICTURE SHOW!

Grab the popcorn, select your seat, and:

LET’R FLICKER:

The opening channelled Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio
A blockbuster way to capture the beat of a cinematic show

The entire cast in flicker mode, Kevin Hart joined in the fun
The ballroom took in the picture show, it finally had begun

FLICK NUMBER ONE – WEST SIDE STORY
JANEL AND VAL – JAZZ – AMERICA
WITH A CAST OF CHARACTERS/DANCERS

An Emmy worthy Broadway Show Revue, star making
Superb, stupendous, special, dynamite, dynamic

FLICK NUMBER TWO – THE GREAT GATSBY
JONATHAN AND ALLISON – TANGO
BACK TO BLACK

Precise, pristine pirouettes, feel of intense melancholy
Sparkling, shining, shimmering, Allison – a dazzling dress

FLICK NUMBER THREE – GHOST
BETSEY AND TONY – CONTEMPORARY
UNCHAINED MELODY

Lovely, lilting, luminescent lifts, a flexibility show
Graceful, glamorous, with a golden glow

FLICK NUMBER FOUR – BACK TO THE FUTURE
LEA AND ARTEM – CHA CHA CHA
POWER OF LOVE
BACKUP DANCERS – BAND – A CLASSIC CAR

Powerful dance with pulsating beats
Happy, toe-tappy, dance with heart

FLICK NUMBER FIVE – ROBIN HOOD
MICHAEL AND EMMA – WALTZ
EVERYTHING I DO, I DO FOR YOU

A wonderful, winsome waltz
Arrow through a heart of pure loveliness
Mesmerizing, melodic, masterful

FLICK NUMBER SIX – ROCKY III
RANDY AND KARINA – PASO DOBLE
THE EYE OF THE TIGER

Ferocious, fighting spirit, survival of a champion
With muscle power, embracing the dance

FLICK NUMBER SEVEN – SCENT OF A WOMAN
TOMMY AND PETA – ARGENTINE TANGO
POR UNA CABEZA

A story brilliantly told, tempting, tantilizing, poetic
A man leading a fierce woman, ethereal, authentic

FLICK NUMBER EIGHT. – AUSTIN POWERS
ALFONSO AND WITNEY – QUICKSTEP
HEY GOLD MEMBER
WITH SCENE STEALER – ALFONSO’S MINI ME

Fast, flowing, swinging 60s vibe
Velvety, vivacious, vibrant
10s across the board from Mini Me

FLICK NUMBER NINE – SINGIN IN THE RAIN
BETHANY AND DEREK – JAZZ
SINGIN IN THE RAIN
AN UNBRELLA SPECTACULAR

Paying homage and respect to the iconic Gene Kelly
Classic, stylish simplicity, tappy toe dancing extravaganza

FLICK NUMBER TEN – GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
ANTONIO AND CHERYL – FOXTROT
AIN’T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH

Dashing, debonair, endearing, fun and finesse
Tripping the light fantastic, cool foxy-trot

FLICK NUMBER ELEVEN – UP
SADIE AND MARK – VIENNESE WALTZ
MARRIED LIFE

Darling, dreamy, delightful, charming, proper
Flying on balloons among the clouds, sun and stars

Kevin Hart, Josh Gad joined a dance troupe on the floor
HAND JIVE from GREASE, with hand movements galore

Movie Night was over, the popcorn all gone and time to go
It surely was A “FLICK”TASTIC MOTION PICTURE SHOW!

DWTS Season 19, Week 3 – Dancing by the Numbers!

So, everyone was surprised to see Randy go – as was I. But in looking back to last weeks “Dancing by the Numbers” post, we probably shouldn’t have been. We’re dealing with SMALL numbers here, and Tavis and Randy were both in a four-way tie, only 11k votes per million votes cast above Michael.  What does that mean? Well, it means that for Betsey and Tommy to be safe, they only needed ONE more vote than Randy and Tavis. ONE.  It also means that Michael got 11k more vote per million votes cast than both Tavis and Randy (at least). Really, is that SO surprising? Watching Betsey and Tommy last night, I’m not surprised either of the survived. Michael over Tavis – yes, we called that. Michael over Randy?? Ummm…that’s a bit more surprising. But the DWTS audience has shown time and again that they love guys like Michael.  Problem is, they also love the Betsey’s and the Tommy’s – as do I.

That means one of two things. First is that Michael’s time has very possibly run out. The second is that if Michael’s time hasn’t run out, watch out Antonio.  But I get ahead of myself – I haven’t even looked at the numbers yet – that’s just my sense of things in Week 3, going into week four (ALREADY!!).

Anyway, let’s take a look at last night’s scores and percentages:

Table 1

Since Randy had a score awarded to him, I’ve included that in my total. Do they do it that way? Well, they say total judges points awarded, but who knows. At this stage it makes little difference in the votes needed. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Lea Thompson Chats On Her Next Dance On Dancing With The Stars And More

Lea Thompson tells Kearth101 that she and Artem are planning to do something more modern and heartfelt for their next dance. She’s also not suffering from any injuries except open blisters on her feet. More below and at the link including some audio. Thanks to @DWTSgossip for the heads up on this interview.

As one of the more mature stars on the stage, Lea not only rocks those revealing dance outfits each week, but she also notes that she’s one of the few who hasn’t fallen to any injuries from practices so far.

“Some of the young girls have injuries, but not the old broad,” she laughed. “But I do have a lot of open blisters on my feet which are really painful.”

So what does she have in store for next week’s episode?

“I got a nice comment that I’m the most versatile…so next week I’m doing kind of a more modern piece, which is a little bit heartfelt – it’s actually a tribute to my father who’s passed,” she said. “It’s a really, really beautiful song and it’s very heartfelt, and I feel really honored that they’re letting me do that.”

Dancing with the Stars Season 19, Week 4 – Who’s Dancing What….and When? (Song Spoilers)

Well, some interesting dances this week. I will have to see all of the song/dance combinations to see if I really believe these songs were chosen by the dancers. Bethany and Janel having the same style AGAIN stretches credulity a bit far, if you ask me. It also occurs to me that the reason Alfonso was underscored last week is because they knew he’d come roaring back with “the Carlton” this week. 🙂

ETA: Welp, some signals got crossed and we made a boo-boo – Lea is dancing to “Dance with My Father” and Jonathan has a samba.  Lo siento 🙁 Bloggers are human,  too.  And we’re fairly certain that Janel’s dancing to Sam Smith’s cover of Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know” – which is pretty awesome, if you haven’t seen it yet.

ETA2: Same song, different artist apparently, for Bethany and Derek.

ETA3: Finally got Mike’s song!!

ETA4: Hey, Rob Wade replied to me on Twitter!! I was whining about not getting the rules for the “You Raise the Paddle” thingy and he responded with “Go to abc.com at 7:30, get signed in and wait for the first couple” – something along those lines. And guess who’s up first!!

DWTS2014 Allison Holker Writes On New Dance: “It’s gonna be so ‘fetch’!”

Allison Holker has written a new blog at In Touch. She writes of how proud she is of her Dancing With The Stars partner Jonathan Bennett. Even though being in jeopardy was hard, she is so proud of him. Below is more and she teases on their next dance too….

But before we got to show everyone all the hard work we had put in to our dance, we had to hear if we were in jeopardy or not. And then Tom Bergeron said the words, “You are in jeopardy!” It was nerve-wracking, but we were ready to dance and show why we should stay in this competition. Jonathan performed his buns off in that tango and moved me across that dance floor with such ease. Jonathan became Jay Gatsby in our tango, and I was Daisy — we loved playing these roles. We nailed the routine and I was so proud of Jonathan!

We feel so blessed to still be here in the competition and we want to bring magic next week. ‎The fans should be extra happy with what we have in store for them in our next performance. It’s gonna be so ‘fetch’!
