DWTS Season 19 Week FOUR!! Let’s discuss tonight’s show! (Spoilers)

Well, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I expect tonight will be a big ole cluster f@#k. 🙂  Again, DWTS wants us to pimp the livestream so….you can view Lacey’s Stream on our site, just click the link.

Once again, comment to your hearts contents, as long as you remember the show night rules.

  1. Our server gets totally hosed when people sit at their computer and click “refresh” constantly. Post a comment, then walk away for five minutes so that others have a chance…and so that Courtney and I can actually post on the site. 🙂
  2. THIS SITE IS NOT TWITTER. Do not post like you are on twitter. You get one warning and then I put you in time out. 🙂 We need context and content. Believe it or not there are a lot of people who don’t watch the east coast feed of the show, so they don’t know what the hell you’re talking about when you post a comment that says, “Boy, that sucked.”  If you want to say “____ and ____’s dance was not good at all, crappy choreo” that’s fine. That would be context. It is good. 😀  Remember, if you post five one liners in five minutes, you’ve broken rule number 1. 😉

Interesting, Janel going first and Beth going 4th. I expect Bethany to have a much lower score than 40 (this show is a GAME after all, and we must have DRAMA), but we’ll see if that same curse holds true for Janel – she’s rather pimped. Although it’s getting hard to tell if it’s actually TPTB doing the pimping, or Janel herself. 😀

By the way, Courtney and I made some predictions on the Switch up pairings, check it out and see what you think!

What the hell was going on during the couples announcements?? Kept cutting to shots of the big ball. 🙂

Janel and Jonathan are both safe right off the bat. Betsey in jeopardy.

Janel gets all 9’s, including one from America – for a jerky rumba. Which is hilarious (not) since about 3 out of 25 of my followers commenting said they could actually vote. Then it said I already voted for Jonathan when I certainly didn’t. Bastards.

Well, I’m baaaack!! I got to vote for Betsey and Bethany. Gotta disagree with Jules – I think there was plenty of content in that rumba. But who cares. She’s probably going to be safe next week, since her fans managed to get her a higher score from America, plus that song/dance was so emotional. That’s unusual tonight, after all. And if I hear anyone say they didn’t connect with Bethany, I may cut a bitch. 🙂

Ahhh….I love Michael. But his dancing is not good. I gave him a high score anyway, to counteract those judges. 🙂 Bill Engvall in the house, and teary eyed.

Someone want to explain to me why, when I vote for Bethany and Derek, the “related video” shown after I vote is Vajanel?? Shades of Meryl and Maks style pimpage which pisses me off like you wouldn’t believe.

Oh, I love Lea – and this is when I remind you all that I’ve been saying Lea can DANCE. 🙂 America is crappy. 🙂

Really, America – now you’re overscoring Antonio?? Geez. This does make me wonder if he will last longer than I think, though. Although I thought he was going home tonight and that’s clearly not the case. 🙂

Tommmmmyyyyy!!! No, you’re not leaving me. No. He’s in jeopardy though. 🙂 That jive wasn’t great…but I just love him.

WTF?? And you people were worried about Julianne?? WTF do CAI and Bruno have against Sadie?? Give the girl some damn 10’s!! Or does that not fit tonight’s agenda?? That dance was more than 1 point better than Janel. Stingy M’fers.

What part of “THIS IS NOT TWITTER” do some of you not understand. Do I have to start banning people??

Okay, we have Michael, Tommy and Betsey in Jeopardy…..SPOILER….

Next couple safe is: Tommy and Peta

Betsey and Tony are eliminated. She had a great run and she very graciously thanks everyone.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS Season 19, Week 5 – Partner Switch Predictions!

So there’s a few hours left to tweet your votes for the partner switch in week 5, but we thought we’d go ahead and try to predict who’s gonna end up with who based on the tweet counts from Topsy.  Last season, we tried using Keyhole (a much more comprehensive method of measuring the frequency of tweets), but since TPTB basically gave everyone the middle finger and did whatever they wanted with the results of the partner switch voting, we didn’t really want to spend the money to try and do that again. So Topsy will have to do for now 🙂 And while it would be great to be able to measure the switch voting being tweeted from the ABC website, there’s no really good way to do it – so for the sake of simplicity, we’re just going to assume that the voting from the ABC website is probably mirroring whatever the people manually tweeting are doing.

A quick explanation as to how the votes are tallied: they start with the highest vote-getting combination of any of the possible combinations, and begin pairing off down the list of vote totals until everyone has a partner (that isn’t their original partner, mind you).   So using this methodology, even if Janel’s highest vote-getting combo is with Mark, she may not actually end up with him if he has a higher vote total with another contestant.  Likewise, even if Betsey doesn’t have the highest vote-total with Artem, she may get him because his other high vote-getting combos have already been taken.  Make sense? We also tried to take into account any nicknames that the pros and/or celebs have, as both might count (i.e. Val and Valentin, Beth and Bethany, etc.).

Some random observations that we made when looking at the totals: like last year, a helluva lot more people seem to care about who the male pros end up with, than the female pros.  It’s a bit sad, actually – almost every single combination that had a male pro’s name in it had totals in the thousands, while only a handful of the combinations with female pros’ names in them even broke into the thousands.  I’m guessing the Ballas/Hough vs. Chmerkovskiy Entourage rivalry is fueling that one, and Rob Wade & Co. are laughing all the way to the bank.  Also interesting: if the partner switch voting has any sort of correlation with the actual voting done to keep couples in the competition, than Lea may have a lot more people voting for her than we originally assumed – likewise, assuming the same correlation, Janel may not have as many people voting for her as we may have originally assumed.  Food for thought. A Sneak Peek Of Sadie Robertson’s Dancing With The Stars “Hunter” Dress

E Online has a cool teaser up about Sadie Robertson and her dance tonight on Dancing With The Stars. You can see a sketch of her dress. You can also view what her Uncles might be wearing since they are dancing with her too. Be sure to see everything at E Online.

The feathered frock was designed by DWTS costume designer Daniela Gschwendtner, and Sadie is going to wear it while rocking out to Pharrell’s “Hunter” on tonight’s show.

But Sadie won’t be dancing with just her partner Mark Ballas; she’s also going to be joined on the dance floor by her uncles!

Si, Willie, Jase, and Jep are all going to be in the dance, and we’ve got your first look at their costumes as well! Check out the camo they’ll be sporting, because of course they’re going to wear camo. What else would you expect from the Duck Dynasty men?

Karina Smirnoff Writes On Last Week’s Elimination On DWTS, Wishes Cast The Best

Aww, it’s great to hear from Karina Smirnoff before the show. She writes a new blog at People about it and her elimination with Randy last week. She also wishes everyone well going forward.

I’m just enjoying the fact that Randy and I got to meet each other through the show, and we got to work together. We got to create incredible memories and hopefully gave the show’s audience something to enjoy with all our dances.

I’m going to miss the fact that we would laugh at each other and then laugh with each other, the fact that he’s so positive and always optimistic, how strong he is – he literally is probably the strongest guy I’ve ever worked with – and how we found ways to tone it down. I’m going to miss the choreography, the costumes, all of it. It is a fun show. It’s one of those experiences in your life where it gives you the highest of the highs, but then it also quickly reminds you of the lowest of the lows, so you never get too high up there!

Going forward, I want all these guys to do well. I love them, they’re my family. I hope they kill it!

You can read her full blog at People.

New Social Media Impact Interview With DWTS Rob Wade And Telescope CEO Jason George

Lost Remote talked with Dancing With The Stars Executive Producer Rob Wade and Telescope CEO Jason George about the show and why it’s become the most “social” show on TV. They also talk about the Paddle Vote for what’s taking place tonight. A good read before taking in the show.

LR: Why is live fan participation via social such a crucial part of competition shows in general, and ‘Dancing With the Stars’ in particular?

Jason George: Fan participation in competition shows has always been an inherent part of those formats with voting, but social media has super-charged that by turning a powerful but limited one-time fan engagement into an ongoing dialog and one that happens in real-time. Why is this so important? Because every producer is looking for ways to connect with their fan base and, ideally, drive them to tune in live to the scheduled broadcast. By connecting with the audience and fans via social media, we’re driving reach and sharing, which helps to bring in new viewers.

On “Dancing With The Stars,” there’s a particularly powerful mix of all those elements of fan engagement with a base of celebrity contestants who generally have large social media followings along with an active fan base of their own. Harnessing those together and weaving real-time interactivity into the fabric of the show as we’re doing creates the potential for significant impact via social and digital media channels.

Rob Wade : because it allows the audience to make the most out of the live event and increases the enjoyment value of the telecast. Put simply we all like to watch television with friends so we can laugh, cry and express our emotions as a community – live fan participation via social media is simply this on a grand scale. For dancing with the stars it’s so important because we have celebrities with such big followings that engaging them in a real time, interactive way is a no brainer.

LR: ‘You Raise the Paddle’ will let fans vote in real-time alongside the judges. What is the process like from tallying the vote to seeing it integrated into the telecast in such a short period of time?

George: Firstly, it’s vital that the secure technical infrastructure is in place. As the TV world moves ever-closer to real-time interactivity, high-volume, “bursty” traffic can be a beast to handle! When validated results are added – as with Raise The Paddle on DWTS – the platform has to be able to tally and deliver consistent, reliable results in a very short amount of time that satisfy Standards and Practice. These are the principles underpinning our platform, Connect Live. Other than the technology, it really requires close co-ordination and a team that is experienced with live television – we have personnel both at our HQ and in-studio working with production to make sure all systems operate smoothly and that the on air experience is optimal.
