DWTS19 Michael Waltrip Putting On His Boogies Shoes And More – New Interview

Michael Waltrip tells Sacbee.com that doing Dancing With The Stars has been a lot of hard work, but, the experience has been “amazing”. Below is more. He’s such a great guy. More at the link on his racing adventures this weekend.

Waltrip said he’ll arrive in Roseville on Friday night for a sponsors’ dinner; on Saturday morning, he and “Dancing with the Stars” partner Witney Carson will find a suitable dance space in Roseville to practice for Monday’s show.

“The producers of the show asked me if I’d be interested in competing and I said yes almost instantly,” Waltrip said. “Then I hung up and said, ‘Shoot, I don’t know how to dance.’ ”

Despite low scores each week, Waltrip has advanced through four eliminations. He said this week’s theme is disco, so the boogie shoes will be put to good use.

“This whole dancing thing has been way out in left field for me,” Waltrip said. “But the experience has been amazing. It’s a lot of hard work to get the routines down. It’s been crazy, and I can’t believe how much better I’ve gotten, and that’s because of my great partners.”

Waltrip has dedicated himself to the dancing competition much as he did when he was a driver and now as a car owner for Clint Bowyer and Brian Vickers. Bowyer is 18th in the Sprint Cup standings and Vickers is 22nd. Waltrip, who has driven three Sprint Cup races this season, is 45th.

Dancing with the Stars Season 19, Week 5 – Who’s Dancing What….and When? (Song Spoilers)

Wow, everyone is getting a tiny bit hosed this week in terms of either song or style – in some cases both. Except for Janel of course. The pimpage increases – do wish they’d quit trying so hard to make her happen and just let the show evolve more organically. All you screamin’ Val fans whining and crying about Derek asking Colbie to sing while he and Beth danced can STFU now. Not only did she get a dance very close to what she’s trained in, she got the artist singing for her this week (rumor, anyway) – and that artist is also guest judge! Much more preferential treatment than Derek going to a friend and asking her to sing. I expect that the hypocritical among you won’t be satisfied, regardless. Too bad, so sad.

Actually, giving Lea “Broadway” is pretty obnoxious too, considering that she just had contemporary – but I think she could use two good weeks in a row. She’s not getting the pimpage that Janel is. I like her a lot and think she has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, doing Broadway doesn’t really give Val the opportunity to fix her posture problems that she’s had in ballroom/latin numbers.

Rumor going around that Joey Fatone is singing Jonathan and Peta’s song – for reals? Too much weirdness for me this week. 🙂

ETA: Mike and Antonio…the latter is totally screwed, I’m thinking. What a craptastic song.

ETA2: So, they won’t show Tommy’s “salute” on camera, but will give him songs which heavily imply the same? :::rolls eyes:::

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 20 Watchout: Russell Wilson Said He Would Do Dancing With The Stars If….

Isn’t this an interesting instagram posted by Karina Smirnoff last night(see below)? Russell Wilson, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, says he’d do Dancing With The Stars if they win the Superbowl this year. Note too how recently Russell said “no” to Dancing With The Stars, but “yes”, to a future season. He was also seen at rehearsals this season. We better keep a special eye on this one for Dancing With The Stars Season 20 and I’m dying for another football player to dance, are you?

So….calling out @dangerusswilson “if I win this year’s #SuperBowl, I’ll do next season of @dancingabc #DWTS” ~R.Wilson. Ok-Should we hold him to it?!?!
