Afterbuzz TV And Sharna Burgess Review DWTS19 Week 6
Ready for another Afterbuzz TV Show? Though first, if you haven’t ranked the couples this week, be sure you do so in Courtney’s new Power Rankings Post. Ok…now onto the new Afterbuzz TV show. This time Sharna Burgess joins the panel in discussing week 6 of Dancing With The Stars. She talks of what it was like working with Pitbull for the opening number (which as you know I love loved!). She also helps to review each dance and tells us some fun “behind the scenes” goodies. Sharna also explains at the end what it was like to be chosen as the 13th pro and how easily anyone can be replaced (that would have been so hard to go through). Let us know what you think as always.
Always great to see Sharna on Afterbuzz! 🙂
It is!! I loved her on the show this week for how she told us a few things for what’s taking place behind the scenes. Thank you Sharna!!
As for the reviews, I loved what they said on Bethany and Derek this week and how Bethany revealed another layer.
Also, I liked that Anna gave Mark and Derek props for what they are doing with Bethany and Sadie. Though not sure what to think of some of her other comments….she’s tough.
The ending made me cry too when she explained what she went though during the announcement and being picked last to be a pro. She’s so humble and thankful. Just love her!
Sharna really brought a positive vibe to the show.
It breaks my heart to know she feels guilt over not taking Charlie to the final. As Anna said he was the sacrificial lamb, so M&M would have vote splitting
A better show this week than last week.
I loved Anna’s comment that Emma is the Mother Theresa of DWTS. It’s nice to know that the person you see on TV is exactly like that in real life. If I was a male celeb I would certainly request her as a partner. I do hope she gets her own Alfonso or Charlie as a partner soon.
I really like Sharna, she was awesome on the show. She tells it like it is, and I know she was very hurt not being called back. I think her fans really used social media to let the producers know they where not happy and thus the 13th pro. She is one of the best on the show.
I don’t understand why she feels she let Charlie down. I really don’t know what they could have done differently when there were all sorts of games being played by TPTB and the couple who won. Sharna should be content and proud of the fact that they gave it their all.
IA a lot with what they said about Janel/Val concerning their weird package/showmance, and appreciate Sharna saying the producers choose what 90 seconds to portray. Val even mentioned in an interview that he did not appreciate that package. But at the same time with how they interact… IDK. Something weird is going on with them and it’s finally hitting me how much it takes away with them. I think my blinders are coming down.
Interesting that they had Sharna fly in to potentially step in for Cheryl. If Cheryl does have to leave would they let Sharna become his new partner or would he be forced to remove himself from competition? (I haven’t watched DWTS long enough to know if something like this has happened before.)
I disagree about enjoying Pitbull as a judge. I found him stiff and like he wasn’t having fun. I know some guests can be over the top, but he could have shown more personality.
Sucks to hear about Alfonso’s injuries. Really hope it doesn’t effect him!
Very much enjoyed Sharna on this. I hope she doesn’t get that ‘last spot’ feeling next season but she’s one of my favorites.
Great having Sharna there. I think she’s the only person currently employed by the show who gives an honest critique and doesn’t hold back. Also love hearing her BTS tidbits.
Obviously had no idea she almost had to step in for Cheryl. I really hope her dad is okay though and it’s probably very difficult for her to concentrate on anything right now (I’ve been there, your mind is constantly consumed by it). My gut is that Antonio will be eliminated on Monday but it’s possible he has another week in him (will save that for Dancing by the Numbers though).
Val actually said he didn’t like their package??? BHAH! I’m sure he blamed editing also. He’s a clue bud, you don’t want your package to come off that way don’t be saying shit about your feelings and these growing feelings are there and “we’ll see America”. I mean seriously, what do you think the producers are going to do with that? I hate when people complain about a situation they helped create.
I totally have a new found respect for Peta this season, especially after hearing Sharna’s comments. It must not be easy to teach the same routine form scratch everyday and she sure is handling Tommy really well and seems to be having fun.
Val pushes the shomance like crazy on social media and then gets upset cause of the package? REALLY???I
I really liked this week’s afterbuzz, its always great to see a little more of Sharna
@Ammie, if a pro has to step out for a week or two, they can substitute another, it’s been done several times throughout the show. If a celeb has to step out, it’s a different story, obviously. If the season hasn’t started, they can find a substitute (and in season 8, they found a replacement for someone who got hurt and couldn’t continue, she was learning her routine offstage as the show was going live).
If Val didn’t like his package, it’s his own fault. Yes, the producers do pick the 90 seconds out of 40 or so hours, but he and Janel delivered to them what they wanted. He can’t give them what they want and then say “don’t use it.” If he didn’t want them using it, both he and Janel wouldn’t be playing the game.
I did like this episode, it didn’t have that same negative “feel” of the other episodes this season.
You didn’t see those guns they had pointed at Val and Janel’s heads??
I like the ab show this week, but I almost always do even when I don’t agree with it all, or maybe because. I enjoyed Sharna as a guest and the back and forth discussion she and Anna had.
I wonder, since they also try to make the “right match” with celebs if it wasn’t so much that Sharna was last pick but that they were, as she said, really trying to get Tavis to sign on and they saw her a the right match for him. I also wondered how that discussion made Anna feel because I’m think that she still wanted to be a pro and would have done it even with her small child this season. She’s got her partner and her mom all right there to support her. Anna can come off as cold or even bitter at times but she is a beautiful dancer and I miss seeing her dance.
If Sharna isn’t there next season, I am going to be annoyed. After what she has done on the show so far her spot should be cemented (like Cheryl’s is/was.
I agree with all the comment about Val shouldn’t be upset about the video package comments considering their actions, but still wanted to share the video link it with everyone. At about the 50 second mark he brings it up (after of course doing some dodging around the question at hand. le sigh.)

Great comments on Bethany and Derek and how they were able to accomplish such an amazing dance with so little time. Loved Anna saying that she didn’t think any other pro could bring out of Bethany and Sadie, what Derek and Mark had.
Oh, how I adore Sharna Burgess. She is not only an awesome dancer and choreographer, she is a woman of pure class. She comes from a completely different world than Sadie and her family and yet, she spoke so thoughtfully and so respectfully about them. She and Anna were absolutely right, Sadie’s timidity with the Rumba was more about inexperience with guys than religious beliefs. (Shawn Johnson was also an evangelical Christian.) My goodness, being a naive 17 year old girl, trying to act seductive with a man nearly 30, who has been a brother figure to you, and do it in front of your family, friends, and the nation. must have been really hard for Sadie. By the way, major props to Anna for pointing out that Charlie was a sacrificial lamb last season and how Janel and Val’s “feelings” will be over at the end of the season.
I cry bullshit on the whining about the package by Val. As I always said in regard to Maks – the producers can’t show what you don’t give them on a silver platter.
It was his confessionals that were the most cringeworthy….. I think that’s harder to edit and take what you want from it
Per comment #16: EXACTLY!!! Producers can’t show it if they don’t got it!
