DWTS Live Tour Round-Up: Reviews From The Press, Photos, And Video Clips

How about some goodies from the Dancing With The Stars Live Tour? First,…a couple of reviews!!! The Pittsburgh Post Gazette calls the show is an “entertaining extravaganza”! Here is more from the link…

But “Dancing With the Stars” is in the entertainment business and that is its brand — to entertain. That it did surprisingly well. Some favorites included Mark Ballas’ geometric contemporary with Ms. Carson and a silver cube and a fleet-footed jive from Emma Slater and Sasha Farber.

All of the dancers were on point in this well-balanced program in which picturesque routines alternated with charming chitchat. The audience also delighted in backstage stories. Of particular local interest, Ms. Johnson loved winning with former Steeler Hines Ward. Her worst moment? When he dropped her on her neck.

They talked of how Mr. Ballas (also a singer-composer on display here) is encouraged to push the envelope by producers, while Mr. Goodman complains about it on camera. Valentin Chmerkovskiy (also a violinist) said he is pushed by producers to go shirtless. Much to the delight of Pittsburgh women, he joked, “I’m not a piece of meat.”

Nonetheless, if you were lucky, you could have ended up in a selfie with those two and guitarist Dylan Chambers, one that made the vast confines of the Benedum seem really intimate.

MassLive.com also has a review posted of the show. They said, “The evening was a mix of spectacular dance, entertaining backstage tales, and some impressive musical performances.” Below is a bit more…

“DWTS Live” was at its best when the pros did what they do best – dance.

Watching dancers like Ballas or Johnson perform without having to hold back because of a novice partner was a treat for fans of the show.

And it’s a crime that the “Jailhouse Rock” jive performed by Farber and Slater at the Mohegan Sun was not seen by millions of television viewers.

Chmerkovskiy was clearly the fan favorite, drawing hoots, whistles and declarations of love from some of the women in attendance when he removed his shirt.

The Ukranian-born dancer gave a touching speech about realizing the American dream and the debt he owes his parents for their financial and emotional support.

“DWTS Live” comes to Massachusetts for two performances on Jan. 16 at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston.
