Val Chmerkovskiy And Rumer Willis Discuss Their Next Dance And More On Dancing With The Stars
Val Chmerkovskiy and Rumer Willis talked with E News about their first dance on Dancing With The Stars. She also discusses her dance experience and what personal qualities might help her to do the show. Rumor also says their next dance (the Cha Cha) will be “fierce” and it has a “Beyonce Diva Moment”. More below. I love her hair long like this.
I thought I would dislike her because I thought she was your typical Hollyweird spoiled brat but I must say that I’m wrong. Rumer seems so down to earth and I look forward to her journey on the show. She is head and shoulders above Val’s partner from last year (that one seemed mean to me). Shame on me for pre-judging her….
Yeah I really like rumer too. You can tell she is just here to absorb as much info, learn, and grow without any shenanigans. For not really having any dance experience, she is such a natural mover.
I like an all around natural looking non-marked up body in a lady, with one exception to my taste of what is beautiful and that is the ear lobe pierced ear ring. Call me an old fuddy dudda but that tatoo really stands out almost as bad as Marks. In dancing nose rings, or facial rings (eyebrow, lig, etc) are not becoming in the field of beautiful dancing. I hope Rumer wears something over her upper arm because it stands out like a sore tooth. She seems like a sweet person and wants to learn to dance well. Although, there hasn’t been any discussion that she has taken dance training, it’s amazing that she can just come out and dance like a pro, because according too the judges appraisal and no construction criticism what-so-ever, that usually mean dancing at Pro level. I could be wrong, but I looking forward to seeing the next dance; hopefully is will have only the movements and steps that it’s suppose to have for a Cha Cha. They won’t need to be given a Contemporary, because they have already done theirs. I’m sure Nastia’s Contemporary will be just as beautiful and perfect.
I liked what I saw of Rumer too, actually – in fact, she should do ALL the talking for that couple. Then they will go far. 🙂
I’m SURPRISED to say this, but I think this will be the FIRST time ever, i’m liking Val’s partner even more than Derek’s.
I think it’s RUMER’s sweet, down to earth personality making me like her and also dislike Val a little less 😉
I won’t mind if she even wins actually. She’s a beautiful dancer. I just hope Val don’t screw things up with showmance or any drama.
But then i’m pretty sure, Rumer won’t go the showmance route. 🙂
Rumer does seem sweet but that gigantic Lion tattoo on her arm is so distracting. Actually Mark has an even bigger Lion tattoo on his lower arm. Does it mean something?.. other than that they both like Lions.
She is really very charming. She seems less “Hollywood” than many of Val’s previous partners even though she grew up in the public eye.She was beautiful in her first dance. I hope it continues. Val was never my favorite pro though his talent is fierce. He seems more relaxed in this interview and more likeable.
This may be one of those times when I need to remember it’s about the celeb and give them a chance, same as when I feel that those who dislike Derek need to be open to giving his celeb a chance at their only journey. Agree that Val should let her do all the talking and tweeting…
Well, Rumer just did a little talking and proclaimed that she thinks this will be Val’s year. In other words, she thinks she will win.
Rumer honey, don’t drink the C bro’s kool aid. Just be yourself and remember to enjoy the journey.
After seeing her dance Monday night and in her rehearsals, I really have a hard time believing Rumer has not had a lot of ballroom training, or prep for the show like Sherri did. She might be a good student but I don’t think that is the whole story. I would be interested in Courtney’s bf’s opinion on this as he is a ballroom teacher, I think. Having an opinn of an objective expert would be interesting.
She has *some* dance experience, Judy. But I don’t know how much. There are videos of her doing aerial work. She definitely isn’t a neophyte.
I mean, let’s face it – if she wasn’t a good dancer already, she wouldn’t have gotten Val. I don’t think he’s allowed to have a total non-dancer. 😀
Judy, I don’t think she has any ballroom experience. I found out from my good friend Google that she attended Interlochen Arts Academy in her freshman year. She was there for only a year. The dance program at Interlochen is really incredible, but she could have been leaning more towards the theater department. I really don’t know.
She’s been in a few musical stage productions in the LA area here and there. Nothing like a major Broadway musical though.
Well, Susan2, many called out other’s performing arts school attendance as experience. Especially if they were partnered with Derek. Even if they majored in music and NOT dance. So, if it’s good for the goose…
Absolutely PM.
Thanks for the info re Rumer’s dancing. Should be interesting how this season goes. Val’s fans are very supportive of this partnership, unlike last season’s showmance that exploded so they will be back to voting. I just hope if they win this year that it fair and square and not due to shenanigans. I still think she has a curiously large amount of “non dancer” talent though.
Performing arts school probably doesn’t mean ballroom, but at least a decent amount of dance intro if not more. While I don’t think it “matters” in terms of likability or who I want to root for, it does help the viewer put into perspective growth and the level of potential difficulty that the celeb can handle – and if their pro decides to challenge them.
