The Dancing Poetry Corner – Jammin’ At The Jamboree

I thought I would share with you how I craft these poems. I take them very seriously, mapping them out beforehand. I work on a legal pad dividing each pair up in sections, including opening numbers, etc. I re-watch the show taking copious notes so it is refreshed in my mnd. I do research if I need to. I often search for synonyms and new ways to express things. I try to keep them close to the theme of the week. I coin words and phrases such as I did in last week’s poem, Mandy Moore-tastic, to emphasize a certain part of the show. I take it and soar into my mind picking my brain for ideas to be creative. Poem titles can come way beforehand. Or as I’m writing the poem. I sometimes come up with ideas as I’m falling asleep, in the shower, anywhere. They have been really fun to do. I hope you are enjoying them. So happy for any comments!

Jammin’ At The Jamboree

The Ballroom was in a frenzy, Jammin’ At The Jamboree
The atmosphere was electric, so much fun for us to see

The dancers were on fire, all were in a Jumbo Jam-A-Thon
Wishing the dances were on view on a Jumbo Jam-A-Tron

The night ebbed on and a special surprise was filling the air
A lady serving her country returned with love and with care

The songs were chosen with special meaning to each pair
The time came to dance, their stories with us ready to share

DWTS Season 20 Suzanne Somers: “I did my best to shake it for America. Ha ha!”

Suzanne Somers has writer a new blog at People. She felt the “thrill of really dancing” this week. Read on to see why. Love her….

Once I learned the footwork, I ceased to count and began to dance. It was the first moment since I began this experience that I felt the thrill of really dancing.

I knew the camera was starting on my butt, so I did my best to shake it for America. Ha ha!

Dance costumes bear no resemblance to your typical cocktail dress. I’ve lived my life in cocktail dresses, but for dancing you want an outfit that shows off the dance. Tony actually designed my dress because he wanted all that fringe to accentuate the twisting and turning. Tony felt my spins and twists were lost in week one because I had a costume with no movement.

I was emotional for a myriad of reasons. First, I felt so good about our dance because Tony and I had worked so hard to get there – my body got a lot of bruises this week – and then to get that tremendous audience reaction made me feel overwhelmed with emotion that it’s all been worth it; that all the work I have put into my health and taking good care of myself has paid off. I never let cancer beat me, instead I used it to work for me as incentive to do all that I have had to do to achieve peak health again. So putting all those thoughts together got to me.

PureDWTS Season 20, Week 2 – Power Rankings

Pleasantly surprised thisΒ  week – not only with the scoring and the judging, but with the fact that, for the 2nd week in a row, there were no “phone-ins”: every last couple came out and gave it their all, even if it didn’t quite pan out the way they planned (sorry, Chris).Β  Judging seemed pretty consistent and the scores seemed to match the critiques – one would think this should happen EVERY week, but it’s becoming more and more of a rarity these days…so for tonight, I am happy πŸ™‚ But that could change next week…

Somewhat sad to see Redfoo & Emma go, but I’ll just leave it at this: I think staying in the competition would have potentially been quite stressful on both of them, as I think they may have forgotten to have fun a few times in rehearsal this week.Β  Ultimately, though, Foo went out on a pretty high note – he was definitely the most improved from last week to this week, and he did show some serious potential…although I think he probably would have struggled just to get the votes week after week, because I just don’t see too many middle-aged, conservative-leaning housewives being huge LMFAO fans 😎

1.) Nastia & Derek – I think Rumer & Val may have gotten a bit of a gut check after watching this dance – they ain’t the only ones who want that trophy πŸ™‚ This was a great, almost technically-perfect rumba – Nastia’s got the lines and the feet and the arms and the posture and the extension.Β  Here’s the problem I have: she seems to have a lot of walls up, and the chemistry between she & Derek was almost non-existent.Β  I guess the best way I could describe her facial expressions is “girl who has never been kissed and doesn’t quite know whether to close her eyes or keep them open” πŸ™‚ And another observation: I think Nastia may be an unfortunate sufferer of “resting bitch face” – I think her neutral face is just so serious and calm that it may come across as a tad standoffish…and I wish I had some advice for her on that, but some people just aren’t as smiley as others.Β  Maybe stand in front of a mirror and practice smiling? I dunno πŸ˜› Hoping Derek can work with her on emotional connection, because the technique is there – she just needs to get a tad more vulnerable. Read more..

Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, baker, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donnie Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night" as a paso doble.

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week THREE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Okay, we’re trying something new. We’re putting this up on Tuesdays and updating as we find out information – as long as we’ll get no one in trouble, that is. πŸ™‚ Note that next week is Latin Week. Below are some of the dances. Be sure to check out our Media post for new interviews.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS 20 Week 2 Media And Interviews With The Couples After They Dance – Videos, Photos

What a great night of dancing! I’m still shocked and saddened Redfoo and Emma were eliminated so early. πŸ™ I thought they were doing so well, but, I’m glad they went out with a bang. I’ll always remember Redfoo for the true “Showman” that he is. Thanks for dancing, Redfoo!!!

So, for starters today, let’s get the scores and placings:

Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough: 34/40
Willow Shields and Mark Ballas: 32/40
Riker Lynch and Allison Holker: 32/40
Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy: 32/40
Redfoo and Emma Slater: 31/40 (Eliminated)
Patti Labelle and Artem Chigvintsev: 28/40
Michael Sam and Peta Murgatroyd: 28/40
Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson: 28/40
Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani: 28/40

Charlotte McKinney and Keo Motsepe: 26/40
Chris Soules and Witney Carson: 21/40

Below is a recap of the night with ABC7 in LA. Note how the couples are interviewed….

ABC7 also have some breathtaking photos at this link. The Daily Mail also has some cool photos and screen caps. Zimbio has some cool parking lot coverage as well.

E Online has some interviews. Be sure to see them at this link (I’d embed those but, I can’t get them to stop playing).

And here is JC Rubio with some Afterbuzz TV Interviews. He always asks some excellent questions. He does his homework. Great fan questions too…. Read more..
