E Online has released some interviews, you can watch them all at this link (I’d embed them, but, they play without a way to stop them). Note how happy Mark and Willow are for the “10’s” they recieved last night and rightfully so.

Thanks Vogue for all the goodies! Sneaking in a few minutes at work to check out some of the videos.
Still so sad to see Michael go, he’s such a gentleman. I thought he and Peta made a very graceful exit. I truly hope there’s an NFL team out there that will give this man a chance. If not, it’s a sad reflection on them because they don’t think twice about picking up wife/child beaters, substance abusers, and convicted criminals.
ok, well, these are my thoughts?
Nastia & Derek – the best dance of the night for sure, those lifts, sharpness, footwork and everything was just amazing and flawless. and not even the choreo was stunning (when Derek did it?) and Nastia’s technique was perfection, but she handled it emotionally very well! I knew that she’ll get better and better and here you are! I didn’t miss anything in this dance and I though it was underscored by Len, especially compared to some of the other contestants.
Willow & Mark – well, it was a good dance and great choreo by Mark, but I didn’t feel it deserved those high scores. don’t know why the judges actually did it, but I think it didn’t help Willow in general since everybody’s saying now it was overscored. I know that there’s not so many things you can really criticise on contemporary, but for example I thought that the other dancers were kinda distracting sometimes as well as the props, don’t YOU think, Len?
Rumer & Val – TBH I was quite dissapointed by this dance. I wouldn’t care so much if it was a proper Walz or not if the choreo was so good. but it wasn’t. I mean, she had a great story, one of the best I think, but it didn’t stun me or make me cry. But it wasn’t Rumer’s fault, I think Val was the one who was supposed to sold it by the choreo and he failed. Beth had quite similar story last sseason and they also did a rather contemporary rumba, but it was because they wanted to showcase what she stands for and it worked very well. in that walz, I didn’t get what it should express. the choreo wasn’t spectacular, it was actually guite similar to her first dance, which I liked even better.
Back after watching more vids.
Willow and Mark were having the best time. Hope Mark counsels Willow to educate her little fans that super-high scores don’t guarantee safety from elimination and they need to vote as well as tweet.
Loved Noah and Sharna (as always). Noah looked pretty perky (he’s so strong psychologically), but I thought Sharna looked worn out emotionally. His trust in her is so apparent as is her respect for him. What a great dance partnership!
I’m impressed with Rumer. She’s got her head screwed on straight, and she manages to make Val more tolerable in interviews. If it is “Val’s season” *gag*, at least he’ll get his gift trophy with a partner I can respect.
I’m glad next week is Disney night. Even though all the couples still have to work hard, it’ll be a nice change to do something frivolous after the emotional stress of personal story week.
I haven’t watched the videos yet, but I just wanted to agree with you Cidra, about Michael finding a football home. It makes me so sad and frustrated that this is still an issue (especially with what’s going on in Indiana) but I hope he’s given a chance to prove his value and worth, and I think he’s a great representative to lead the way.
Why all this talk about Willow & Mark getting high(er) scores for their dance last night. Last season Val & Janel and Derek & Bethanny got 10s for their jazz/contemporary early in the season. Dereks & Beth revolved around umbrellas, in which Bethanny didnt do all that much in the dance at all and it still got 10s. We all know Jazz & Contemporarys if done right, get 10s.(for the most part, props or no props.)
Talking is what we do, JP. If you don’t like said talk, you are free to go elsewhere.
Bethany didn’t have 6 other pros in her dance, making it confusing to see her. Willow’s dance had too many dancers. You don’t agree? Fine. But don’t try to shut down conversations you don’t like.
For me, it makes a little more sense comparing Willow & Mark’s Contemporary to Bethany & Derek’s Freestyle. In both dances, all the dancers (celebrity, pro, troupe) wore similar costumes, yet in Bethany’s, she was front & center & was hard to miss, whereas in Willow’s, she blended in too much w/ the others & was hard to spot. Having said that, I really enjoyed Willow’s dance, but after their performance, I almost expected one of the judges (CAI or Len) to say, “it was a great dance, but I didn’t really get to see you” – something similar to what was said about Jacoby & Karina’s Freestyle.
Wow are all the pros told to push Val this season? Peta says she HOPES Rumer and Val wins. Took her down a notch for me.
Sorry, clicked submit too fast. I really get the feeling there’s a consensus among many pros that Val will win. Louis wrote the same in his blog this week. Afterbuzz mentioned it the first few weeks. Now Peta said it.
Lindsay wants them to win as well and she’s not fam. I just think Val’s a popular pro amongst they group and they wanna see him finally win. It’s hardly malicious.
as long as it’s just talking and not actual manipulations with voting. That drives me nuts. Still surprised Lindsay would pick Val over Mark. Mark has gone far longer without a win, and I would say Mark is more deserving considering the work he has been doing with the young ladies. At the end of the day it SHOULD be about the celeb.
Val should “win” the mirror ball trophy when
1) The star he’s working with is personable, hard working and has some talent.
And
2) When he teaches and choreographs that star to perform in a way that both showcases her and entertains the audience, more than any other star, all season.
AND
3) When Val and his partner have engaging connection with one another and the voting audience.
The judges are meant to critique technique and skill, I believe. But the other part of the equation is the audience. So far, Val has not delivered on all 3 points in one season for me. Including this one. So I don’t give a damn how many commentators, including his current or former colleagues say he should win the mirror ball!
I think the heavy-handed promotion of Val will back-fire. At some point, the audience is going to get tired of it. Obviously, it didn’t work last season. Yes, it worked for Tony and Melissa, but they were the only finalists who had not won before. The promotion may have helped Maks and Meryl, but they likely would have won any way.
I didn’t watch the all star season so didn’t know there was heavy promotion for Tony to win. Val seems preordained to win but it is unfortunate that his choreography is so much the same week to week. He just doesn’t seem like the best pro this season. He has a very gifted celeb who has had dance experience( I really think there is more there, maybe lots of private lessons to prepare for the show) Perhaps people will vote just cuz they like Rumer and her bulling as a kid seems to be the journey they are promoting. Hard not to get behind that. Bottom line for me is uninspired choreography imo anyway.
