Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week Eight RESULTS!! (Spoilers)

Was going to wait to the end of the results show, like normal, to do this post, then figured this would be cleaner. Everyone discussing this show in the same place.

Well, if the beginning of the results show wasn’t enough to put you off dinner, nothing will. It’s not the dancing, the dancing was fine. I’m talking about the overlong glowing crap ass pimp show package for Val and Rumer. Ya’ll are trying to hard – it’s making me suspicious. Plus your agenda is showing.

Anyway, Rumer is safe. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 20, Week 8 – Dancing by the Numbers

Well, like I predicted last week, the judges made a clear difference between the top three and the bottom two, with Noah hovering somewhere in the middle. This should be a slam dunk for the top three, but I heard something that made me wonder. Tom was very clear that everyone should make note of Rumer’s number and make sure they were dialing it right. “Check that number and dial carefully.”  Interesting.

Anyway, let’s look at the leaderboard weeks 7 and 8. Read more..

PureDWTS Season 20, Week 8 – Power Rankings

Not a whole lot to lead-in with – apologize that these didn’t come last night (I try to have the power rankings up before going to bed on Mondays with a results show the following day), but I had a cake to make and my icing gun broke and I kinda lost all my will to live…momentarily 🙂 Then I slept and I was ok.  Definite judges’ agenda last night, and it seemed to be “make sure Rumer makes it to week 9 AT ALL COSTS, and kinda try to shield Nastia & Riker while you’re at it – the rest are expendable”.  Len has completely lost all credibility for me at this point – just seems like he’s following the directions being fed to him by TPTB each week, even if it means contradicting himself.  Random epiphany I had while watching Robert’s samba trio: how cool would it be to have a pro samba to George Michael’s “Freedom ’90” with the pros playing female & male models? 😉

Also, a point of clarification on Nastia’s “meltdown” in their package: per Deep Throat, that occurred at the end of an 8-hour rehearsal, and Nastia was already planning on heading home – so yeah, she didn’t “walk out of rehearsal in anger”, as some are trying to spin it. Also interesting to note: sometimes the staff filming the rehearsals are encouraged to ask kinda inflammatory questions in order to amp up the drama when the pros and celebs are feeling tired, anxious, stressed, etc – so the frustration you saw from Nastia was more than likely her getting irritated by a needling cameraman, rather than with Derek. Felt that this required clarification, since some of Derek’s detractors seem to be having a field day on Twitter over Nastia’s “outburst”. Hehe – I’ll show you a REAL outburst. Just goes to show that the narrative of the show has gotten so out-of-control that you can’t trust the rehearsal packages anymore. Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week 9 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

And this week we have two dances again for each couple, one of which is Judges Pick. How convenient we have Judges pick BEFORE the finale. Let’s see who gets hosed this week.

Clearly not Rumer – the Argentine Tango totally plays into her ONE NOTE. Plays to all her strengths. I fully expect Riker and Nastia to get something exceedingly boring and/or out of character. Read more..

PureDWTS Season 20 Week 8: Scores, Media, And New Interviews

Wow, what a great night of dances. They all stepped it up a notch. It’s going to be sad to watch two couples go home tonight. I don’t even want to think about it. 🙁 So, let’s get the scores first….

Rumer Willis & Valentin Chmerkovskiy – 80 (40/40)
Riker Lynch & Allison Holker – 78 (39/39)
Nastia Liukin & Derek Hough – 76 (36/40)
Chris Soules & Witney Carson – 64 (34/30)
Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess – 63 (31/32)
Robert Herjavec & Kym Johnson – 62 (33/29)

Ok, onto some new media and interviews. If you go to ABC7, the Daily Mail here and here, and ET Online, you can view some beautiful photos.

For interviews, first go to E Online (I’d embed all the new interviews, but, it messes up the site). Maria Menounos interviews the couples. I wish she’d interview them more often. She does a great job.

Glamour interviewed the couples as well and they have cute pictures to see at this link. Some of the couples also talked with Fox11. I liked this part with Derek and Nastia where Derek talks on his dancing last night. (eta: she just added her elimination predictions too which I couldn’t disagree more with)

With her partner Derek Hough still injured, Liukin danced with Sasha Farber for the second straight week—but Hough made cameo appearances in the two routines, doing what he could.

Hough, who suffered a broken toe and sprained ankle two weeks ago, told reporters after the show, “I can’t dance really. If you watch, I wasn’t really dancing. I was just stepping gingerly while she did amazing stuff.”

Hough told FOX411 he wasn’t sure when—or if—he’ll be able to be Liukin’s full-time partner again.

“My heart is like, ‘Come back tomorrow, let’s go!’ But I gotta be smart … I don’t want to inhibit her performance if I have to dance gently and timidly.”

Liukin was shown snapping at Hough in rehearsal footage, but she explained backstage the moment was overblown on TV: “All week we have been giggling and laughing … the last five minutes, I was exhausted.”

For lots more with Derek and Nastia, see Pure Derek Hough.

And here are some new interview with Afterbuzz TV. Be sure to send JC Rubio some love at twitter for doing such a good job again… Read more..
