Afterbuzz TV With Gleb Savchenko And Elena Samodanova Review Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Week 8
This week Elena Samodanova and Gleb Savchenko joined the Afterbuzz TV gang to review Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Week 8! It was so cool to get a perspective from Gleb and Elena being they have danced and/or judged in other countries (here, Australia, India, recently Russia…and soon the UK). I found them fascinating with their knowledge and insights. They were refreshing and articulate with their reviews and thoughts of each couple. I especially loved how Gleb and Elena praised Sharna and Derek for their choreography. Gleb even called Derek “extraordinary”.
Other notes:
-Note that Gleb and Elena are only in Los Angeles for two weeks. Next week, Gleb plans to take his DWTS Russia partner Adelina Sotnikova to Dancing With The Stars on Monday and Tuesday. So, look for them in the audience.
-Elena also talked about judging DWTS Russia and what it was like to judge Gleb and Adelina (wouldn’t she make a cool judge here? I love her!).
– Gleb also talked of doing Strictly Come Dancing this Fall in the UK and then they are returning to back to Los Angeles. Gleb said he hopes to dance in Dancing With The Stars Season 22 here.
-Also note that Kristyn said Kym Johnson won’t be dancing on our version of Dancing With The Stars next season. She is going back to Australia to judge.
Lots more below. Excellent show with a lot of cool information. Let us know what you think as always….
ETA: Part of the video below has been edited. Not sure why, but, during the live stream when they were talking about the Derek, Nastia, and Sasha’s trio, Gleb again mentioned Derek’s musicality in his choreography and how he can create around the song(fast and slow) and that you don’t see that level of choreography very often because you have to be “extraordinary”. So, keep that in mind while you listen.
ETA2: You can listen to an audio version of the entire show (unedited) at this link. The part that was missing in the video below can be heard at the 42:14 mark. Thanks to Angie for letting us know.
ETA3: Kristyn tweeted there were “transmission issues” and that’s why they had to edit the video. You can also listen to the Podcast at iTunes.
Gleb and Elena were very good guests and loved Elena’s insight. Suri Serano needs to just take it down a notch but other than that it was an ok show. Still don’t understand the reserve they have for Nastia though.
For any pure readers who aren’t certain if they want to watch the show, I would encourage you to watch this episode. Very detailed, terrific commentary by Gleb and Elena. I liked this one as much if not more than the one with Mark.
Vogue, I so much appreciated what they had to say, not only about the genius of Sharna, but the quality of movement from Noah.
Also, they gave a lot of good insight into the challenges that gymnast face, things I hadn’t thought of like Gleb said, it’s hard for them to not lose their center in partner dancing since they are used to being solo. And Elena was very clear that Derek is teaching Nastia very proper and hard technique and not relying on her previous strengths of “gymnastic tricks”.
I think they all spent a good amount of time on each of the top 4 and were kind in their comments about 2 who were eliminated.
I loved those parts too, Jess! Just excellent!
Vogue, I am very apprehensive each week about watching AB. But I completely trust your judgement so will definitely check it out.
I watch the show every week and have noticed the best guest are the ones that have so much experience….like Shirley and Corky and Mark. They tend to give us good insight into all the challenges that these Pro’s are facing. Gleb and Elena gave great comments and were complimentary to the current dancers. I really hope they both will be on DWTS..Season 22…..Elena could replace a judge here. Give Gleb a good partner and he is unstoppable! Vogue, you and I have said that all along…time to write Rob Wade.
Ananya, I am too but this was a good one. Check it out and let me know.
Julie, I agree…time to write Rob Wade!
I find AB not my cup of tea but I liked Mark, Shirley and Corky. When I heard Gleb and Elena would be on then I wasn’t going to miss it.
Elena is a very fair judge, she is an excellent judge of talent and not afraid to correct what she sees as wrong as well as to compliment what is correct. I would love to see her as a judge here. She is also a beautiful dancer.
I never wanted to see Gleb leave but his work on DWTS Russia was the best I have ever seen and I think he grew threw that experience. However I do want him back and with a good partner. Are you listening Rob?
I think their thoughts on all the couples was very fair and some of their review especially about Sharna and Noah brought a tear to my eye.
One negative remark from me Suri calm down it is annoying.
All in all a terrific AB.
Great episode. They had constructive remarks for everyone which is nice. Nice insight on Rumer’s rumba, Nastia’s challenges as a gymnast, and Noah’s limitations.
Suri does get excited doesn’t she? Thought she was going to need a cigarette to recover….ahem. Or a cold shower.
Speaking of Corkey and Shirley, where was Mark this week? Did anyone one see him in a bumper? Tony was on All Access,……
Did Afterbuzz edit out what Gleb said about Derek in the live feed because it appears they did on this version?
During the live stream when talking about the trio, after Darvina talks they went to Gleb and he again mentioned Derek’s musicality in his choreography and how he can create around the song(fast and slow) and that you don’t see that level of choreography often because you have to be “extraordinary”. In this version you can clearly hear where they edited that whole part out when after Darvina stops talking there’s a blip of silence then randomly it comes back with Gleb saying, “it was really cool”. They literally edited out the entire first half of Gleb’s comments.
Really Afterbuzz? Really? That’s pathetic.
Gleb & Elena were great!
Glad they both cleared up the whole Rumba-thing with Rumer & Val. It was pure, simple, real, and traditional Not the “contemporumba” that we kinda get used to on the show.
The past 2 weeks of AfterBuzz have been great with the right guests :))
@Michelle—I was watching the live feed, and the part that it went OUT on for me (and it seems others too?) was when they were just finishing discussing Rumer/Val/Artem’s trio paso doble…..my live feed caught all of their discussion on Derek, which was just a few minutes prior to the outage.
Michelle, wow, I didn’t notice that since I listened to it live. Sad …as I heard exactly what you did.
Soapview they didn’t edit the live stream they edited this version to take out what Gleb said of Derek being one of the few choreographers who has the musicality to work around any song and that you have to be “extraordinary” to do what Derek does. It was clearly spoken in the live feed and edited out of this entirely. In fact the whole first part of what Gleb said about the D/N/S trio is edited out in this.
It was a part that went out on the feed, it’s what they edited before they posted this.
Edit to above, I meant “it was not a part where the live stream went out”. This was a total edit job.
Couldn’t agree more with everything you wrote, Lynn!! I really do hope Rob is reading and listening!
Sad Michelle as that was one of my favorite parts.
That’s despicable Michelle. But I have to think, are they that stupid? Did they think people wouldn’t notice?
I was just listening back to it to see if I missed anything during the live feed and noticed Gleb’s random “it was really cool” that came out of nowhere with weird silence proceeding it then thought, “hey he said a lot more there” then went back to make sure I wasn’t mixed up with his Paso comments and no, it was taken out.
During the Paso comments in the live feed he first mentioned Derek’s musicality in his choreography, then when it came to the trio he again brought it up and went into it more in terms of him being able to choreograph around any song given and that we don’t see that much because you have to “extraordinary” which Elena said, “yeah that choreography”. All of that is missing from this version.
@Michelle, that’s a shame. Yeah I listened to it live too. Gleb and Elena were complimenting Derek on his trio choreo. Basically he mentioned something about the specialness of the choreography and musicality, going back and forth from slow to fast sections and that it’s not done because to do it you have to be “extraordinary” or something. I’m paraphrasing but that was the gist.
Yep Jane2 and interestingly enough all that commentary and praise is gone in the published version.
I am just trying to wrap my brain around why they thought it was OK to edit that out or why it was even necessary.
Wow Michelle, you have really good ears! I remember that part too but honestly, if you had not brought that up I would never have noticed it being edited out. Hmm… something feels a bit fishy. I’m going to listen extra carefully next week to see if it happens again.
And who was saying that AB was so good this week? And that they don’t do the producers bidding? If that’s true, then I imagine they will be working hard to get the original recording back up on their site.
:::crickets:::
I’m not going to go down the conspiracy theory road…..no reason to assume anything underhanded here and seriously what would be AB’s motive? Come on! They don’t have that much pull and from reading the posts from the last 8 weeks it seems as if most of you don’t watch/ hate the show anyway!
When I watched it live, I had 3 or 4 parts that cut out for me. I could hear the audio, but the picture froze. This did not just happen while they were talking about Derek btw.
Yet oddly enough all the praise for others is still in the video. Hmmm, I wonder if they will claim it was some random audio glitch in the upload? lol
I have to give them kudos though it takes fortitude to be that apparent with one’s deception. I just don’t get why they felt that needed to be taken out.
Maybe they have a limit to how many times Derek can get praised in one episode? lol
There were a couple audio glitches, I remember, but it was not during their critiquing of Nastia & Dasha’s dances. It’s very clear they edited out Gleb’s remarks about Derek’s choreo
Jillglove, you may disagree, but watch your tone. Also, discuss your own opinions, but don’t give your opinion of what other people think. Unless you don’t want to post here anymore.
Jillglove the issue is that there was no audio or video glitch during the part on the live feed that is now missing. It is also kind of obvious that it was edited to anyone who watched the live feed compared to this version, you can even hear the moment it was spliced.
I’m not going to even guess why or go down any conspiracy theory roads but it’s quite apparent that they purposely removed that part of the discussion and that leads one to question the reason. I do not in anyway think that AB has any reflection whatsoever on the outcome of the competition, so again I ask why?
The thing is though, Gleb’s remarks weren’t even outrageous or controversial at all. He simply stated how much he enjoyed their Jive Trio & praised how Derek choreographed the routine. I can’t recite word-by-word what he said, but Michelle & Jane2’s posts have written a good gist of what was said. He didn’t throw shade at the other pros or dismiss other couples’ trio dances in favor of Nastia & Dasha’s. It was all very innocent (to me).
Oh I’m so sad I said it was a good show. I don’t have time to listen to the recorded edited version but if they really did edit out the part that gives Derek credit for being a great choreographer that just makes me mad mad mad. Agree, there was nothing controversial about it. He did not ever once throw shade on anyone. They didn’t over praise Derek or gush. They just in the same tone they used to point out other peoples strengths did the same for Derek.
I will try to listen to it later this morning.
It’s sad. Of the whole video and show, why that part? It was the best part too. 🙁
Ok, I updated the post that part of the show was edited and what part was left out. It just makes me sad of all parts to leave out, why that one? Some people out there really needed to hear that. Oh well.
The video cut out for me in several places as well. I doubt an organization run by Maria Menounos would be so patently anti-Derek Hough that they’d purposely edit out comments praising him. I think it was likely some kind if youtube issue.
I know, why not leave out the part where Suri is acting like CAI? I’ve liked Suri a lot more lately and I think she did a great job when Mark was on, but if they needed to cut something out for a time limit why not something superfluous like that?
Daniel, too bad what you wrote isn’t true about Maria, but, unfortunately, I don’t think she has any control of what they say since they (mainly Anna T and Suri) throw shade at Derek and Nastia every week.
I agree Jess!!After watching last night, I wish it was just Kristyn and Diva Darv doing the show as there was a whole different atmosphere to the show.
I watch/listen to AB each week and have very few issues with them. I didn’t watch live but I listened to the podcast last night in my car and I’m pretty sure the part that everyone is up in arms about was in the audio podcast version.
I listened to it after and never heard the Derek praise. And Maria Menounos is a fair journalist who wouldn’t do that to a show IMO to any guest unless there was a valid legal reason like slander. Plus she’s got 100s of shows and a job at E! So I’m sure she didn’t even listen. That said, I really liked Gleb and Elena’s comments. They were fair and well supported. Elena as a judge was terrific to hear. I love how she said she looks for “required” (my words) elements in the dance. She is so knowledgeable! Could she please replace CAI so we can have some unbiased constructive honest critiquing?
I have to say the only AB shows I’ve enjoyed are this one, Shirley and Corky, Mark and from last season Emma and Sharna. Julz Tocker and Jake D are usually pretty fair but the other guests like Serge or Artem are just shills for the family and I don’t like that Kristyn will back down on her original opinion after Serge criticizes it instead of challenging it. I’m iffy on Darvina, she’s clearly Mark’s friend but from earlier comments I sense no “love” or no connection with Derek, not that she should favor him but she clearly seems reluctant to praise him.
Thanks Angie. I just found the audio version and added it!!! THANKS!
you’re a sweetheart Vogue. Thanks for adding that. Completely agree with the commentary. Definitely Emmy worthy!!!
I meant I watched and it wasn’t in after show
Well, Kristyn doesn’t stand up for her opinions and she clearly doesn’t like hearing what people actually think (as opposed to the ass kissing she gets from the “fam” fans), seeing as how she blocked me on twitter for my comments here. 🙂 Well, no loss there, I guess, seeing as how it took me more than a week to realize it. But it certainly indicates that she was just paying lip service to whole discussion about not shutting down actual critical discussion in favor of rainbows and flowers, regardless. Kindness as a way to prevent dissenting, well thought out discussions is just as dangerous to our society as nasty haters bullying people on the internet.
Oh man, Heidi. I am sorry to hear that.
re PH “Kindness as a way to prevent dissenting, well thought out discussions is just as dangerous to our society as nasty haters bullying people on the internet.”
That’s a pretty powerful sentence that really resonated with me. I think that in the case where it’s used to shut out contrary thoughts it seems to be more “niceness” rather than kindness, more superficial wanting to avoid conflict and an investment in trying to make ones own way of communicating and thinking the only right way. Well yeah, I guess that’s what you just said, dangerous for a society. I think that’s why I didn’t jump on their “kindness” campaign. As I get older while I’d like to live my life with kindness, I’m far less and less and less about niceness.
I thought that in this episode of AB, Gleb and Elena came off as the most knowledgeable, without a horse in the race unbiased with actual significant amount of content than any guest they’ve had ever. And I thought a few weeks ago when Mark was on, he did a fantastic job of giving kind, useful input on everyone despite having an obvious horse in the race. To me, so far, in balance, the chance to watch these 2 kinds of episodes makes it worth it for me to keep AB on my radar.
PH PREACH!!!!
I saw they did a kind campaign thing for the month of April where every day it was a different DWTS person they said something nice about on Twitter. That’s all nice sounding, but it really didn’t do anything about the bullying issue IMO.
I really wanted to chime in and suggest a constructive criticism month where for all of the people they said something kind about they gave one piece of constructive criticism on Twitter. It’s not as touchy feely as the kind campaign, but I think it better addresses the issue of bullying by asking everyone to keep their criticisms constructive.
Transmission issues at exactly that part? Ha I called it!
Call me cynical but I guess it seems rather odd to me.
Completely agree PH. I think there are limits to using the word “kindness” when it is a way of cutting off discussion. It is definitely being used by KB and other Twitter followers to shut down very valid criticisms they don’t want to hear.
Wow, now I feel I am in good company Heidi. She blocked me too after I said I would not listen to their show because the first show they announced Val/Rumer the winners. Felt that was hurtful for all the other couples on this season. To bad they feel the need to edit their program to keep all the Val fans happy and block people that actually use their brains and can see through manipulations.
Well, one way of looking at it…if they truly didn’t want that specific part in it, they wouldn’t have the complete unedited version on their iTunes page. And it’s true for how You Tube live streams can have it’s issues sometimes.
Anyway, I’m just glad it’s at iTunes and the other link because Gleb and Elena said it and then some about Derek and Nastia (and the others too). They were class acts with their reviews on the show (which some of the panel could learn from) and so informative.
Out of curiosity I wonder how many people watch AB or listen to it? If you’re a podcast person, then you really didn’t miss anything as Gleb’s remarks were there, so no prob. It’s the video that has the missing footage. MY feeling is that if this was something underhanded then it would be missing from every medium wouldn’t it?
Seeing how, when I was watching live, my feed cut out a few times, I’m chalking it up to technical issues. Especially after hearing the audio version. If both mediums had been edited then that does look hinky. Just an unfortunate spot in the interview.
Nothing to be sorry about, Vogue. In my opinion, if she doesn’t want to hear actual critique of her show and how she could make it better and maybe get Derek fans back, then it’s really her loss. I never blow smoke up anyone’s ass, which means when I tell you what I think, you can be sure of it. You can’t say the same for people always kissing your ass. You can’t be sure of them.
Well, Jess, I think that some who back the “Kindness” campaign think that an honest opinion that isn’t sunshine equals “hate”. I think that is moronic in it’s simplicity. Nothing is that simple. There is a complete lack of critical thinking (and that doesn’t mean negative, btw) and it’s resulting in a dumbing down of America, IMO. Now, I said in the live blog that Rumer’s rumba was a very good dance, I just wasn’t sure that it had all the rumba requirements, that it didn’t feel like a rumba. People call you a hater for saying that. You talk about the overwhelming pimpage of Val and Rumer, and the dual packages designed to pimp her, and people come in here calling you a Rumer hater because of that, not GETTING the fact that that is a criticism of the PRODUCERS, not Rumer. They are incapable of making the distinction between what Rumer and Val do, and what the producers do. Besides completely ignoring that Rumer did in fact have TWO packages, and a much longer, solo package on Tuesday night. Something that no one other than Chris got, and I suspect his was much shorter.
I was wondering why I hadn’t seen any KB tweets lately and it seems I was blocked too. I didn’t even tweet her directly(I never have), but was included in tweets in regards to content in the show. Nothing mean or personal was said either just comments on the show. And there is no way she should could block me based on comments here because here I use my real first name and on Twitter it’s actually some random inside joke with friends.
If it’s a mistake, then I’m sure they’ll rush to fix it, right Jillglove?
We’ll see.
I want to respond but I don’t want to just say “yep” and sound like and ass kisser 🙂 but yep is what I think. And it a way it makes me kind of frustrated because damn if I don’t like a good discussion.
Thanks you Vogue for reposting the correct version of the show. That is why this show is not my cup of tea. It is very often IMO slanted to say the least!!!!
PH keep doing what you are doing, you are the best.
I am not a media expert, but my sense that if the feed/transmission cuts out during a live show, then I think it’s gone…..or if there was something wrong either video equipment, then that can’t be helped either. I had to reload that episode a few times as it kept getting jammed up.
Even in those live stream rehersal they have had many audio and video issues that can’t be recovered as well. Don’t ya love technology!
I agree. Miss Heidi, never change who you are!!! Hugssss
I think it’s a delicate balancing act. Obviously going too far one way and bullying or demeaning is destructive but so is only saying kind things. For one, it’s fake as hell. Also, it builds up egos and makes people incapable of hearing criticism. If all people on DWTS (or anywhere) only hear nice things about themselves, they are less likely to handle criticism well. I think we see that on the show, in that some people seem unable to handle constructive criticism. I think a lot of this is because they might’ve surrounded themselves by kiss asses.
I think Nastia & Derek have gotten the short end of the stick this season, in planned and unplanned ways. The DWTS producers have their own purposeful agenda but then this too? I won’t cry conspiracy on Afterbuzz, I just think it was really unlucky timing that the couple that has been particularly pissed on lately also were the ones being discussed positively when the feed went out in this video.
Nice to see positive, knowledgeable dancers like Gleb and Elena on, I enjoyed them.
Suri used to bring something to the table but she’s been ridiculous to me in the past few seasons. Throwing the same shade week after week at the same couples and fawning over the same ones over and over to extremes. And always saying she is a gymnast/dancer but then also that she doesn’t know enough to comment on any dance skills. When she said something like she can’t even always tell what dances the couples are doing, I feel like I could be on this Afterbuzz show and bring more to the table. Even if it is a contemporary interpretation or a bad example, I can tell what type of dance they are doing. And I’m not a dancer like she claims to be. I would love to have you pure mods be the Afterbuzz hosts haha! How awesome that would be:) Regular super fans with humor and someone also with a knowledge of ballroom dancing (Courtney), not just ballet or jazz/contemporary, so we wouldn’t just hear them say over and over, “I can’t really comment on technique”.
I know some of you don’t think Rumer will actually win but I think the producers are doing all they can to push the initiative. The average viewer bought what M&M and the producers were selling in S18 hook line and sinker. So, the average viewer might be swayed by all the favortism and the new narrative that those who do classic dances are the best, since that is apparently the new end of season narrative–“Classic dancing to take it back to the former days of DWTS is the best, no fluff or production!”. I like classic too, but only doing classic, esp in the last few weeks of the season is a little dull and non versatile. Also, when it’s being done by Val not only because Rumer looks good in that but because he has a lot of trouble coming up with any killer or unique production concepts, rings lame.
So apparently Rumer & Val are the only ones who do dances without any fluff or troupe? They’ve only done a total of 4 all season with no extras. Nevermind that Nastia & Derek have also done 4 dances with no extras and just straight danced the dance given. But now that Derek has the time to come up with cool and unique production concepts, production is a negative word and just classical dancing the favored way to go. I’m pretty sure awesome concept and production is what got Derek (and DWTS by default) an Emmy so should we really be knocking that DWTS? Oh and Rumer and Val are the only ones who did a classic rumba with content? What about Nastia & Derek? I’ll give that Rumer is a better actress for the rumba (she should be as it is her career) but I think if Nastia & Derek did that week 2 rumba now at week 8 it would have blown minds, because I loved it before, the content and technique there was awesome, just needed some more connection. Anyway, I just get tired of the hypocrisy and misrepresentation of statements that go around as fact. Kinda like you do PH when people cry “Derek always gets ringers…”
Oh and lastly, loved your posts PH- #41 and 51. ITA!
I think Suri was initially brought on because Tony is a good friend of hers and was always giving her inside scoop that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. The explosion of social media has kind of taken that purpose away which in turn takes her initial purpose away, which makes her akin to a lot of the other hosts on other Afterbuzz shows. Just a fan who doesn’t know specifics, but knows what they enjoy watching and don’t enjoy watching.
EPmusic Agree with you wholeheartedly. Personally, I think that Nastia and Derek have more than earned that gold MBT. From here, Derek will continue to bring fabulous choreography, Nastia will continue to grow outward, Sasha will continue to bring as much love and support as is necessary, and I will continue to create more accounts at abc.com.
This is the first real choreo Derek’s done since his time in NYC. When he first “relocated” to I began wondering how that whole experience might be incorporated into his choreography. Now that he’s in LA and can use the troupe, etc. I think we’re seeing a bit of it showing up: The Subway Charleston and the Hi-Rise Jive have NYC written all over them. So now more than ever I can’t wait to see what he does next!
It can be fixed, Jillglove, and if you know enough about technology to get not only the podcast on the air and the video on the air – and the podcast doesn’t cut out – then it can be fixed. I could fix it.
Rumer and Val have a history of doing content free dances this season. Another problem some people have is the inability to remember past this past Monday. Derek has been the one choreographing dances chock full of content this season – yet still apparently isn’t doing something right. It’s asinine how produced the show is – and how much some just believe it.
Along with what you said in #62 PH is that there was no audio glitch in the live feed. It did not cut out at that part as it was streaming. So where in the heck did this sudden “transmission” glitch come from? None of it makes any sense.
Yes the missing commentary is there on the podcast but most fans watch the video and if it was a simple audio issue then it’s a quick fix since they have the original audio from the podcast. So why not fix it and air as it was originally streamed?
Anyone wants to take bets on how long it’ll take for Val to rip of Derek’s jive trio, just like he did with Derek’s samba trio with Shawn?
I watched the episode live on the AfterBuzz website last night, and there was no technical glitch whatsoever. I saw Gleb praising Derek on his Jive choreography, calling him, “extraordinary,” and then I go to YouTube and find it has been omitted, this is just sickening.
I was going to go in the AB video and watch it since Gleb & Elena were guests but after reading some of these posts and just the mere mention that AB took out a comment from Gleb appraising Derek just P I S S E D ME OFF!!! I am just so sick of the bull against this talented young man. I want to see Derek off this show after this season and doing more great shows on Broadway and anywhere else where he is appreciated and loved for his awesome talents. I’m sure he will have another SOLD OUT Hough Tour this summer.
@PH…I always read your comments and have learned much from them about this show. This season I have seen and heard what you and others have been saying all along, and the manipulation this season (like S-18) is so obvious it’s sickening. That’s why I decided after the first couple of weeks to vote straight Nastia all the way. She has been getting the shaft in more ways than one, and she is the one who has performed outstanding dances from week one. She was given dances in weeks 1-6 that she should have in the lasts weeks. While Rumer was given the easy stuff and the dances that Val could do best with in the last weeks. Rumer hasn’t wowed me at all this season, and her sexy costumes and intense dancing is all she has going for her. Val’s choreography is boring!! Rumer should have gotten the Quickstep way back, because she stinks at the fast stepping dances. Nastia will walk all over her with the Quickstep.
I may disagree with you, but just because you have a different opinion doesn’t mean you’re unkind. That’s why the kindness campaign has always bothered me because that’s thrown in there when anyone says anything contrary to AB. It’s a shame when real conversations can’t happen
Oh my gosh….it made me so mad this week when I saw people saying Nastias trio wasn’t a trio dance and that Derek gets away with everything. Who gives a flip if it wasn’t a trio that we’ve seen…. Val’s been playing around with actual genres of dances but no one says a damn thing. That show definined the trio dance…. He can change it if he wants to
Thankyou…Vogue
I listened to the link you posted and was fine with listening until they got to the last couple, and the gloating started and I exited out. They (not Gleb or Elena) praise Rumer & Val to high heaven. Can’t stand the obvious favoritism.
@ Megan….The other ABC website members have driven many away because all they do is post threads that “crucify” Derek. This season seems to be the worst calling both Nastia and Derek names. Even to the point of being cruel about his injuries. I can’t believe the moderator of that member board lets them do that stuff. That’s why I enjoy coming to Pure because that kind of behavior isn’t tolerated, and that’s what I admire about the moderators here.
Suri is so predictable about Nastia. It reminds me of what she said about Amber.
I really loved Rumer’s Rumba, it was nice to hear that it was the classic rumba style. I thought she looked very elegant. Nastia’s dance was super fun and creative. I think they will battle it out for the final, but I am starting think Noah is going to come in strong for the MBT, and pick it right out from under them.
KreativeKat The rude comments that are being made about derek and nastia are not right I understand that people have different views on different dances but some of the things that are being allowed to be said on there are just not ok I love coming here I getting to see other people point of views that can sometimes be critical but not make me angry over how mean and spiteful like some of those comments on the other boards are and you don’t get attacked for make one simple comment that others don’t agree with.
I use to enjoy watching afterbuzz every week but this season I have not enjoyed it the constant negative comments some of the pros and the high praising of others who are good but not as great as there making them has just turned me off.
EPMusic #59, I think if Nastia & Derek did that week 2 rumba now at week 8 it would have blown minds
I’ve been thinking the same thing for weeks. I would be thrilled to see them do this dance again! (I want an honest “redemption dance” back in the show.) The content, execution, and technique was incredible, but it was Week 2 (for heaven’s sake). Nastia’s not an actress but an Olympic athlete. It was too soon for her to be able to fully commit to the character of the dance so she got a tiny bit nervous and giggly in one or two places and that was just enough to give TPTB the “no connection” narrative which they’ve been banging on about (along with other crap) ever since!
