I’m not sure where to begin today? I am just sad and numb for what happened last night on Dancing With The Stars. 😥 I never expected to see Derek and Nastia to be eliminated and something just doesn’t seem right about it and more so than I’ve ever felt in all the time I’ve been watching this show, but, they are handling it all like the true “Champions” and class and humble acts that they are. See this link at Pure Derek Hough to see what I mean.
Also, in a new interview with Glamour, Derek and Nastia both said they have no regrets doing the show despite their busy schedules. Derek was also asked if he’d do season 21 of Dancing With The Stars. Note that he is contracted for one more season and there are more things he’d like to do, but not necessarily as a pro (Oh, how I like the sounds of that idea!). Read on….
Of course, now as we get ready to close out season 20, the talk turns to the fall installment of DWTS, and whether Derek will return for that. “I don’t know,” remarked Derek, before joking that he’s played this ‘game’ many times. “In the past it was like, ‘Are you coming back, Derek? Are you not coming back? Oh, just shut up Derek! Make a decision!” he laughed. Still, Derek wanted to make clear that this season really was a last-minute decision, and it had everything to do with wanting to be a part of the 10th Anniversary. So what does that mean for season 21? “I think I’m contracted for one more season legally. But we’ll see what happens. I have some ideas that I want to do on the show, but not necessarily as a pro.” Ah, that Derek…still finding a way to tease us!
Val also apologized to Nastia for calling them “uninteresting”. This is what Derek and Nastia had to say about it.
While Derek and Nastia took the high road when it came to the elimination, they were much more open about the comments that fellow pro Val Chmerkovskiy said in one of the pre-packages played during the show. When the pros were asked to comment on the remaining contestants, Val remarked that “Nastia and Derek are so perfect that it makes them a bit uninteresting.” Many times the couples don’t watch every tape package that’s played in the ballroom, but this time, Derek did. “Oh, I heard him,” revealed Derek. “I heard him and I went up to him afterwards and was like, ‘Thanks. Classy, bro, classy.'”
Whether Val meant it or not, he went up to Nastia after the package aired to apologize. “Something I’ve learned about this experience is that it’s a TV show,” explained Nastia, “and for 20 years of my life when I competed, there was no producers. It was [me] going out there and competing. I think that’s what I was trying to do at the beginning of the season and why I was so into the scores and the placements.” She went on to add that Derek helped her realize that “you have to live in the moment. It was like the moment we had last night [with Len]. It was really the perfect sendoff.”
Yeah, “classy” indeed. 😐 I don’t know how any pro could be so mean-spirited to another pro and their partner? Sad!
