The Dancing Poetry Corner – The Spirit of Freedom

Finale – Part One

Freedom – Performing without restriction, the state of being free, a right or a privilege to be able to live in freedom, ease of movement or performance

The Finales of Dancing With The Stars are populated with highly anticipated Freestyles. There are no restrictions, the sky is the limit for the creative juices to be flowing. Freestyles can range from an epic production to a subdued dance telling a story. Any number of elements can make up a Freestyle. A Freestyle is usually a water cooler subject. A freestyle can be remembered as a highlight of the Dancing With The Stars viewing experience!

Some of my favorite Freestyles – Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke – Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy; Julianne Hough and Helio Castroneves – Banana Man Quickstep; Julianne Hough and Apollo Anton Ohno – their adorable Hip Hop routine; Alfonso Ribiero and Witney Carson – their high energy, tap happy dance; there are too many to mention.

The pairs had two dances to do for the finale – their repeated personal choices and the Freestyles.

The Spirit of Freedom was exhibited in many ways. Deeply personal emotions were on full display. The spirit of happiness and fun was on full display. The Freestyles were danced with spirit into the Dancing With The Stars Memory Books!
