Will Dancing With The Stars Be Nominated For An Emmy? Emmy Nominations Take Place July 16th!
Will Dancing With The Stars Be Nominated For An Emmy? Deadline.com thinks it’s likely even though there are a lot of shows waiting in the wings. Read on for more including a quote from Executive Producer Rob Wade.
Many series are worthy of attention, considering the level of reinvention they must go through to stay relevant. “People can spot a forced fight or a forced reality moment a mile away, and they need honesty,” says Dancing with the Stars showrunner Rob Wade. “I think we’re doing that well. We’re breaking down the barriers between the viewers and backstage areas so they can access the show to a greater extent now.”
Maintaining viewership is one thing, but for new series, breaking into the Emmy category is next to impossible. The last one to do so was The Voice, which debuted in 2011. In fact, the average time on the air of the other five series nominated with The Voice in 2014 is 11 years; the youthful Voice brings the average down to just under 10.
So will Amazing Race and Voice be nominated once again with Dancing with the Stars, Top Chef, Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance and Lifetime’s Project Runway? It seems likely, even though there are a lot of shows waiting in the wings, especially considering how much the genre has evolved in the last 10 years. Among the other shows Emmy voters might want to consider are Logo’s brand-building RuPaul’s Drag Race, NBC’s feel-good weight-loss series The Biggest Loser, CW’s runway competition America’s Next Top Model, ABC’s tweetable hookup series The Bachelor, Fox’s Gordon Ramsey-starrer Master Chef, Food Network’s delicious Chopped and Syfy’s Critics Choice TV Award-winning special-effects makeup competition Face Off.
More at Deadline.com. I hope Dancing With The Stars is nominated as well as DEREK HOUGH!! I’d love to see Sharna Burgess and Mark Ballas nominated as well. Note: The 2015 Nominations take place on July 16th.
Really cracked me up how Rob Wade talks about honesty after last season. He’s delusional. With all the very much edited rehearsal footage to promote TPTB’s agenda, I’d say DWTS has lots of forced reality moments. We’re on to you Rob. The puppet strings are all showing.
Well in my fantasy world, I’d like to see DWTS and RuPaul’s Drag Race nominated. I love The Amazing Race and watch every season, but it needs to share the Emmy love with other shows.
Linz, I laughed out loud too.
Mr. Wade wouldn’t know honesty if it bit him in the a$$. What he does know is how to pull the wool over the sheeple’s eyes! Sadly, we Pure-ists see all the un-reality, but the masses who tune in on Monday nights don’t have a clue (and Robbie-boy knows it).
Oh yeah setting up a win for a certain couple is not Forced Reality at all!!!
To be honest, I watch four of those shows: ANTM, Drag Race; Project Runway and DWTS obviously. Drag Race was the only one of them not to have a weak series. It wasn’t their best, and the challenges were a little dull and one-sided, but it ended up being an entertaining and satisfying season. Project Runway had a horrible year, ANTM was only OK, and DWTS just irritated me too much for me to root for it at the minute. I’d actually like to see the Emmy go to Hell’s Kitchen, which has been running incredibly well for the last 2 years but clearly that’s not a candidate.
i think it will get nominated for sure but if there is one award I really really really want the show to win, it’s host becuase tom was pretty awesome this season (as usual 🙂 ). For the big best reality show competition one, I think the amazing race and survivor should be nominated as well becuase they had great seasons. I’m wondering if idol could make a big Emmy comeback this time considering there is only one more season left.
“People can spot a forced fight or a forced reality moment a mile away, and they need honesty,” says the guy who gave us a forced “reality” moment with Nastia…..
Rob wade is a real jacka$$. He thought the real fans of dwts would believe that this past season was honest? It was a joke. Either he doesn’t care what the fans think or he thinks the fans are just dumb and wouldn’t know the difference. Between what they did to nastia and having Noah propose in the semi finals and putting him in the finals and not nastia he should be ashamed. I have been watching since the first episode and I hope dwts doesn’t get nominated. I hope derek does get nominated. I’m sure val won’t though because all his dances were the same. Good luck to Derek!
@darlajean…
You are spot on about Rob Wade. His comment is a joke and he couldn’t be further from the truth about S-20. I love Tom Bergeron, but even he told a camera person while coming out of a meeting in the beginning of S-20 when asked who he thought had the best chance of winning, and Tom immediately said “Rumer” So even Tom was on the same wagon as the producers, Len, C.A. & Bruno & Julianne. I really am uncomfortable with Julianne as a judge, because she had to go along with the manipulation and pimping of their chosen crybaby.
