Misty Copeland Promoted To Female Principal Dancer At The American Ballet Theatre
Misty Copeland, who many might remember danced with Derek Hough for the YAGP 2014, was promoted to female principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre. Not only that, she is the first African American female to achieve this status. Too awesome, I had to post. Twitter pic above courtesy of @AnthonyMason.
Wow, first black Principal Ballerina/dancer ~ Congrats Misty!!! Such an incredible honor. Truly a testament to her amazing talents, elegance and character.
I’m still holding out for that performance of Misty with Derek! I think it will happen someday as they both have stated on several occasions their interest and wanting to perform together!!
I’m so proud of her and what a trailblazer. Bravo!! 🙂
About time! She’s been dancing principal roles beautifully for years. There’s no doubt that she can dance with speed, strength and clarity, but the last few years she’s really worked hard to develope her artistry.
I love the little vid. of her working with Derek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4IjqsWvEqo
