Dancing With The Stars Allison Holker And Jenna Johnson Dance On So You Think You Can Dance 10th Anniversary Special
Dancing With The Stars Allison Holker danced with Robert Roldan (choreo: Travis Wall) last night on “So You Think You Can Dance” for their 10th Anniversary Special. Amazing. Thanks to @Idolxfactor1 for the video coverage below (I hope it comes up? If not, see this link.). To read more on the night, see Mjsbigblog.com.
ETA: Jenna Johnson also performed last night. I can’t find a video, but, she posted this twitter pic last night….
ETA2: Here is a video! Thanks Al!!
That’s not Travis Wall, it’s Robert Roldan. Travis choreographed the number, but didn’t dance it.
They both did dance in the opening number though.
Thanks Aly!
Don’t get me wrong Jenna is a good dancer but could they not get a better Latin dancer than her. Janette, Anya, Lacey, Chelsie?
I always loved Allison on THIS show. On DWTS? Not so much… But I did enjoy the program last night and Allie was a highlight for me…
@Nathan UK – She didn’t dance in a ballroom routine…. they picked a jazz routine that they loved her in.
I REALLY liked Jenna on SYTYCD and then she got sucked into the Fam on DWTS and turned insufferable. Those were good times that we once had…
The DWTS anniversary was a lot better then the SYTYCD…. there was maybe a handful of favorite routines and a bunch of crappy montages that I fast forward through anyway.
What does being a better latin dancer have to do with it? It wasn’t a “latin” dance, IMO. It was some weird, newish style – can’t remember what they called it. I thought it was an awesome routine.
@NathanUK The dance Jenna did last night was one she did during her season.
@Heidi I think Cat called it K-pop. It’s a Mark original.
Oh I loved the routine. 2NE1 are a “K Pop”? band and I think “K Pop”? is a dance style also. In reference to their pop videos. I am new to “K Pop”? as my Malaysian friend at University is obsessed with “K Pop”?
Yes, that’s K-Pop (Korean Pop) and nothing to do with Latin.
Anyhoo, I don’t get Jenna lovefest. I mean one of the non-ringer celebrities of DWTS can do e better job to that dance.
Allison and Jenna were also in the opening number, that was also choreographed by Travis Wall
i only watched up to the hummingbird and the butterfly and never thought to check back so thanks for posting the Jenna video 🙂 .
Welcome! Allison and Robert are my favorites to come from SYTYCD and that routine is one of my favorites 🙂
I wish they would have had a better show last night. Did it do well ratings wise? I know agt was new so it definately was a big night for both nbc and fox.
Hmmm…I know very well what K-Pop is and I didn’t think that was the word they used. It was during the segment they were talking about wacking and such. I would swear they had a different name for it, although it may have been a K-pop song.
Jenna “lovefest” Jennnifffer?? I see you haven’t lost your penchant for hyperbole.
Jenna was awesome!!!!!! I am not normally a Jenna fan. I think she is a good dancer but that K-Pop was one for the books. TERRIFIC
SYTYCD has been hanging on by it’s fingernails for a while now, Vin. I can’t imagine it holds it’s own during AGT, which does quite well in the summertime.
The show had too much filler crap and not enough dancing, IMO.
PH I kept thinking last night with all of the talent they have had on this show. This is the best they can do.
I don’t usually have ill will towards people on tv but if sytycd ever gets canceled I wouldn’t be sad becuase I honestly can’t stand Nigel (i like Paula and Jason though)
In SYTYCD’s defense…. the last two performance nights have been stellar. Not so much this “anniversary” night
I really liked the k-pop routine! I felt bad for Jenna though, because she just wasn’t connecting with the audience despite being a phenomenal dancer. I think she danced this before she was eliminated. I believe they labeled it as Jazz when they first performed it and for the anniversary Kat said it was k-pop. Either way, I thought there was a bit of hip hop influences in it.
For me SYTYCD has become a pale, wan shadow of it’s former self. It’s a shame.
I love and have watched that K-Pop routine Mark did so much that I also fell in love with the song and video by the band that sings it, 2NE1. It’s a badass video.
Mark who did the K-pop routine?? It wasn’t Mark Ballas, that much I know.
ETA: Never mind, I found it. I loved that routine as well, and I hadn’t cared for Jenna up to that point.
The awesome and drool worthy Mark Kanemura.
Agreed Vin! #19
I was underwhelmed by the SYTYCD 10th anniversary show. Was that really the best they could come up with? I think it might’ve been more interesting if they had featured all the past winners such as Chehon Wespi-Tschopp who I thought was stunning on that season he co-won. (I’m embarrassed to admit that I cannot remember the name of his fabulous female co-winner). I did enjoy watching Allison dance, and it just reinforces for me the opinion that contemporary dance is her strength and not the ballroom/latin dances she tries to do on DWTS. I thought Jenna did a great job in her K-Pop routine despite the fact that I also enjoy her Latin routines. Unfortunately, Paula Abdul puts me to sleep & I had to fast-forward through her commentary.
I really wanted to see a giant winners dance. It would have made my day.
I also thought there was to little dancing in the show.
Why couldn’t they bring Chelsie, Danny, Anya, Pasha, Lacey, Benji, Melanie Moore, D-trix, Legacy, Lauren, Eliana, Chehon etc.
So many great characters ove the years and all they showed was a lot of montages, a Travis Wall lovefest and Twitch in Magic Mike (they mention it multiple times every episode this season, kinda annoying by now).
@ DW co-winner of Chehon was Eliana Gerard, also a ballet dancer, not on such a high level as Chehon but she was in Cirque du Soleils Elvis.
Chehon for me was the best dancer on SYTYCD. None of those contemporary dancers come close to his technique. Chehon and Sergei Polunin are my favorite dancers ever.
All in all very dissapointing Anniversary special to me.
I thought Ricky from last season was one of the best I’ve seen.
