Dancing With The Stars Rumer Willis Thanks Val Chmerkovskiy For Believing In Her
This is just so sweet, I had to post!!
ruelarue: As my journey as your partner comes to an end and your next season with a whole new partner and new experience begins, there are a few things I thought about today. I honestly don’t know if I have words to describe what this past season or this tour, but most importantly our partnership has meant to me. I know I have tried on many occasion while on tour to describe to the audience what I felt but I have always fallen short to put in words how I feel. So I’ll do my best…first I have to thank you as my teacher for challenging me everyday through your own passion and dedication to your art, for pushing me past the limits of what I believed I was capable of and even for occasionally driving me crazy with trying to make all of our dances the best they could be. Secondly I thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself for putting up with me when I was scared or insecure, and being the person that didn’t let me feel like I could fail no matter what anyone else said. I am truly grateful to call you my friend and I am so proud that we won together, I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else. I can’t wait to root for you next season. love to you always @iamvalc
Does she know how much she was pimped for that win? I would’ve appreciated it if she actually earned it.
I DON’T think Rumer was pimped…she EARNED her win ..as she was a fan favorite and IMO the best dancer last season. Viewers VOTED FOR HER more than the other celebs, thus she won.. pretty easy !!
& she’s such a sweetheart..can’t help but love her!! thanks @Vogue for sharing 🙂
I saw this tweet and it was sweet of her. I wish her well in her future endeavors…
Oh DWTSFan, how lovely it must be to double down on rose-colored glasses with a pair of such well-fitting blinders that not a parsec of reality gets through! Maybe if I had been similarly outfitted I would have seen the same show that you did. Alas, without such accoutrements, my view is way more in line with Ananya’s. Rumer was engineered to be a fan favorite, just as Nastia was engineered to be a non-fan favorite. IMO, there wasn’t much about season 20 that was based on merit. Oh my, there I go again! Please excuse me while I log onto amazon.com to see if there’s a reasonably priced rose glasses/blinders combo within my price range.
It’s a nice and classy post. I never disliked Rumer except for the Frozen shade she threw at Nastia but totally disliked the Val pimping by TPTB. Being on the show and tour obviously got her a role in Chicago and I wish her the best in her independent career. Growing up she was subjected to a lot of harsh media criticism and that can’t be easy on anyone, famous parents or not.
I don’t blame Rumer for the Val pimpage. That would’ve gone on regardless of who his partner was. The show seemed to covet Bruce and Demi being in the audience more than propping Rumer herself.
Truth be told, at the end of it all I ended up feeling a tad sorry for Rumer – felt like she was used as a bit of a pawn for Val to get his MBT all season, and while she genuinely seemed to enjoy the experience and thought she and Val were “in it together”, I got the feeling at the end that she maybe realized Val’s motivations were different from her own all along. Just the look on her face a few moments after being crowned the winner and Val was too busy celebrating with his boys to pay much attention to her – it was as if the truth hit her: “Oh…you just cared about the trophy. Damn.” But yes, she has been very classy about the whole thing, and I’m happy that she has moved onto new opportunities as a result.
As for any shade she threw during the season – I’m gonna chalk that up to getting swept up in the politics of The Fam. She threw a little bit of shade Nastia’s way on-screen – but from what I remember from Deep Throat, she and Val (and the rest of the DWM posse) talked a LOT of sh*t about Riker behind the scenes. Rumer seemed hung up on the fact that Riker was a “trained dancer” and that she “had never danced before” – wonder who planted that idea in her head? Reads like a line straight out of the DWM manifesto…
@Suzy, so you’re saying the whole America who voted for Rumer literally wore rose colored glasses/blinders and are dumb/blind to not understand the ”reality”. lol
Conclusion: America’s wrong and ”some” who think her win was pimped are right. LMAO!! I rest my case.
DWTSFan, you’ve been acting like a jerk the whole time you’ve been posting here. I suggest you dial it back a notch or I will dial it back for you.
Suzy, I know you’re as tired of the manipulation as the rest of us, but please dial it back as well. DWTSFan just LOVES to get a rise out of the regulars around here – please don’t give him the satisfaction.
i remember reading comments from Liz/Anaya and MANY other veteran watchers like me, after the first week of dwts season 20. They already knew exactly what the outcome would be for the season. It was as obvious as the season Maks was given Meryl Davis. That outcome was known the minute the announcement was made. The only difference was that the show didn’t allow the “cold, calm, too unemotional Nastia”(she-the villian..Rumer-the sweet unassuming ingenue)to finish 2nd or 3rd and that was because of Dereks injury.
If Rumer wasn’t being pimped and if she really did want to believe she won on her own merit she would have insisted her parents NOT be in the audience, on camera over and over, crying and more. Rumer like many other kid’s of famous parents go through years of bitching about being taken seriously and don’t you dare compare me to my parents, and all along underneath, feeling entitled to have some sort of career in the “business”. And Rumer has tried alot of things. And now all of a sudden, just like that, she has a role in Chicago. Like that production isn’t using her too for her notieriety of being “the daughter of” rather than whatever talent she has.(sarcasm)
I feel sorry for all the people dwts now “uses”. Some winners and some not. The show comes across as callous and often cruel and just mostly ridiculous in its inconsistency or outright attempts to change the viewing audiences minds by using promotion, phrasing and the judges to sway opinions and outcomes. When they had stars who came on who really wanted to learn to dance and weren’t, at least the first few seasons, allowed to pitch BIG personal agendas or projects. it evened out the playing field more and people concentrated on how good the star could get. Even if that may no longer be possible, the show itself should at least STAY OUT of the pimping business. But now that the show has also added the element of letting certain pros win so they can keep certain pros around so they can promote their own tours or appease certain groups, its just become one giant, unbelievable mess. I have continued to watch because of a couple of the pros and Derek, in particular. But the last couple of seasons even that is difficult
Rumer never did anything to make me dislike her. From what I’ve seen on tv she seems like a sweet girl. I get the vibe though that val is totally going to ditch her and like ignore her as soon as next season starts. 🙁 At least though she has good memories I hope and more self confidence in herself. 🙂
I definitely think that the show has politics that can be kind of negative and disappointing, especially this particular season.
I try my best though to focus on the positive of it, because at the end of the day I love derek and many of the other pros, seeing them on tv and seeing their personalities makes me happy and seeing their beautiful dancing makes me happy.
Hopefully TPTB can realize that many of us watch this show because of the beautiful and happy things like the relationships and dancing, and they don’t have to pimp or create or fabricate drama or this and that to make us watch the show.
@RaineMayer Absolutely. I said and will admit it that right after Len said “Val this is your season” we knew the winner. And I agree with a lot of what you said. I miss the old show when we watched the journey, there wasn’t Tour pimpage and we didn’t know the outcome the first night. For me it really was obvious Maks & Meryl season. No way Maks wasn’t getting that MBT. Meryl could’ve fallen in every dance and the judges would still be gushing. Once Derek is gone if the show doesn’t dial it back, it won’t be necessary Monday night viewing.
Please. She was pimped. Of course she has fans – they all do. But the manipulation is constant and subtle. Doesn’t always work, but it’s made easier for them when Val had never won, versus Derek with 5 MBTs, Mark with 2 MBTs and so on. Riker and Noah – well, it’s close to impossible for someone like Riker to win and Noah wasn’t a great dancer as much as a great story. So once you sabotage Nastia, it’s easy peasey.
Yeah Court, right down to the whole “never danced before” line not being exactly true. She’s an aerialist, for one thing. I would bet there was even more to it than that. She never danced before kinda like Sherri Shepherd never danced before. :::snort:::
And Val has had LOTS of partners with training – that he even has the nerve to make that a bone of contention with Riker is new heights of hypocrisy even for him.
Actually, yes – large chunks of the audience ARE dumb and blind. One only needs to look at the politics in this country (Donald Trump – REALLY?), the audience that buys into the Bachelor and the legions of fans who actually believed that Maks and Meryl were romantically involved to see that. I rest MY case. Now go be a bitch somewhere else, thanks.
It’s nice of Rumer to say this. I disagree about her being the best dancer to win. If anyone watching recent videos of Move Live on Tour tell me Nastia wasn’t almost as good as Hayley Erbert dancing that rumba or Julianne with the Argentine Tango. If Nastia was given the same chance as Rumer, the outcome might be Kellie Pickler 102. You can tell TPTB won’t allow Nastia near the final and do her freestyle because they knew exactly Derek always have killer freestyles. Unfortunately from this season on I don’t think DWTS will allow Derek to win. Derek has become their (DWTS Tour) direct competitor. Big Time. MLOT has better reviews. In which Val has no right to bitched about a review someone did re MLOT and DWTS. It’s not a comparison about him and Derek. It’s about the whole productions. So he needs to stop being a girl. He didn’t own DWTS Tour. It’s funny how DWTS trying so hard to make Val happen when some reviews said DWTS Tour put “too much emphasis on Val”. People don’t realized or won’t admit that Derek is the frontman of this show. Too bad. I’ll give Val and Maks a 2 thumbs up when his own show sells as good as MLOT without including all the other DWTS pros. Yeah, just him and Maks and other relatively unknown backup dancers. If TPTB don’t change the whole manipulation game, this show will go down. General audience will eventually realized all the foolishness especially when Derek leaves. Look at the Bachelor/ette. People eventually got tired of the drama.
Just to add my two cents, I don’t dislike Rumer, but she’s very overprivileged, and her MBT was another thing that she wasn’t made to earn. I know she has the bullying back story, and I do sympathise, but she’s taken full advantage of mummy and daddy’s positions. There’s nothing wrong with that exactly, God knows I’d love 2 major Hollywood celebrity parents and a DWTS win to launch my music career, but it does feel a little unsatisfying if that makes sense
I also saw right through everything the producers were aimed at accomplishing when I saw the cast list and then when Len made that transparent remark that it was Val’s season to win. S-20 took the excitement that I once had about DWTS. If I watch, and that’s a big “if” it will just be for the dancing and won’t care who wins (or who is set up to win).
LOL Heidi to the “Donald Trump” insert!!! lollll
Yeah, I think Rumer being the best dancer last season is highly debatable. Riker and Nastia both had dances I enjoyed more and which certainly appeared more challenging. As for the freestyle? What a cop out. But that’s on Val, not Rumer.
Do you think they are going to try and make the Val back to back win happen? He was retweeting tweets about that the other day. I reallyyyyy hope not! I’m soooo over the Val pimping! Hopefully the mentality of giving other people a chance to win applies to Val as well.
Is Val a Virgo? Because I swear to god, he is NEVER SATISFIED.
Maybe he wants 5 MBTs.
P.s. Please don’t elect the Antichrist as your President.
@Mr. A – “The Antichrist” could apply to MULTIPLE candidates. 😯
Funny thing about Derek and his (5) MBT’s – I have never heard him once tweet/retweet/post/say ANYTHING about wanting to win, let alone a back-to-back win. And that is why Val will likely NEVER achieve the same that Derek has – he’s chasing the win, rather than the journey.
Derek barely (and sometimes doesn’t) remembers to tweet to ask people to vote for his partner, let along saying he wants to win.
Very true. You know exactly who I mean though. The one who said he would date his daughter. He’s a psychopath, and naturally a close friend of Piers Morgan.
I have a very handsome 20 year old grandson who will be 21 in October; and I have often said if I were a young girl and not his gramma, I would surely love to date him. I simply see nothing wrong with thinking this, and I say it around all my family and they agree. My grandson takes it as an honored compliment.
I always liked Rumer on the show. It was hard to sometimes because of the pimpage and her partner being a primo douchenozzle. The fact that I liked her in spite of the manipulation says a lot about her. She seems very grounded, intellegent and kind.
I appreciate her unique and stunning beauty.
I think it would be very hard to not get caught up in the Fam nonsense if you had one of them for a partner. You’re overwhelmed, scared and insecure. Your partner becomes your lifeboat in a stormy and scary sea. It’d be easy to believe everything that comes out of his mouth. Honestly, in my opinion, Val didn’t deserve Rumer as a partner.
I’ve always admired the way Derek gets along so wonderfully with his partners while still maintaining a professional relationship. There’s none of that hanging all over each other, too much PDA crap that drives me up a wall. He respects his partners and shows that respect in the challenging and entertaining dances he makes for them. I dig that.
My thoughts exactly Susan2. Rumer’s post was a lovely sentiment. She has a beautiful spirit. Though I initially wasn’t fond of her because she said a few things that were cocky, I realize that’s how people act when they’re insecure. When she opened up and allowed herself to be vulnerable to the DWTS process, I thoroughly enjoyed her. She truly blossomed and had a great journey, even though the producer manipulation drove me nuts. Funny though, I disliked Rumer at first then ended up loving her, while I started off liking Val a lot, yet now he does nothing for me. Despite Val’s shortcomings, he surely has some redeeming qualities that Rumer could see.
