Afterbuzz TV Reviews Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Week 2 – Video

Kristyn Burtt, DivaDarv, Jake Dupree, and Suri Serano talk about Dancing With The Stars Week 2. They’ve got a new studio as well which is better and a little more pub-like than what they had before. As always, let us know what you think in comments. I was shocked they didn’t think Gary might go home next week. They think it will be between Paula or Kim. Lots more below…

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 3 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

And already, we’re talking week 3 – it’s “TV Icons” week, and Alfonso is the guest judge. If my gut tells me anything, it’s that we might see some TV themes from past seasons reused, just to save time and money. But I’m sure there will be some new blood mixed in, too – I’d love to see someone dance to the theme from The Sopranos, but that’s just me 🙂

ETA: Sure sounds like Paula & Louis have Gilligan’s Island as their TV theme.  The question is: what the hell kinda dance are they doing? Almost sounds like a paso doble to me…and apparently Carlos has salsa. And Tamar revealed on The Real that she has tango, I guess.  Taking you guys’ word for it on a lot of this stuff, cause I just can’t keep up…

ETA2: Based on the press release Vogue just posted, here’s the music for Monday night’s show.  Gotta say – I’m actually pretty impressed with what they were able to clear 🙂 Love Breaking Bad theme – hope Mark comes up with some really edgy contemporary routine to it. I think Tamar & Val hit the jackpot with the Mad Men theme, which Derek actually choreographed a pretty cool tango to w/Allison for the Emmy live show a few years back.  Looks like Andy & Allison may have gotten a song switched on them – but Bandstand is still fun. I may or may not have wet myself upon see “Thank You For Being a Friend” from The Golden Girls on here – but a SALSA??? Seriously???

ETA3: Vogue here! According to Derek’s new blog, he and Bindi have a quickstep. What a messed up week it’s been though since they couldn’t get their first song cleared at first. Be sure to read why HERE.

ETA4: Nick dancing “second last” according to Sharna. -Heidi

Alek and Lindsay – ? (Song: Theme from True Blood)

Alexa and Mark – Jazz (Song: Theme from Breaking Bad)
1-855-234-5602

Andy and Allison – Quickstep (Song: Theme from Happy Days American Bandstand)
1-855-234-5603

Bindi and Derek – Quickstep (Song: Theme from The Jeffersons)

Carlos and Witney – Jazz (Song: Theme from The Golden Girls)
Dancing 1st

Gary and Anna – Tango? (Song: Theme from The Addams Family)

Hayes and Emma – Jive (Song: Theme from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
1-855-234-5608

Kim and Tony – Samba? (Song: Theme from I Dream of Jeannie)

Nick and Sharna – V. Waltz (Song: Theme from Downton Abbey)
Dancing 10th

Dancing With The Stars Andy Grammer Writes About His New Dance, The Judges, And More

Andy Grammer’s blogs for Dancing With The Stars are exceptional and his latest is just that too. Be sure to read it in full at She Knows. Here is some information on his new dance coming up. Read the link for more including his thoughts on his favorite dance last night.

To give you guys a teaser for next week, it can still change, but as of right now, I think we are doing a quickstep to the TV show theme song “Happy Days.” That’s the No. 1 show I watched as a kid on sick days from school. The Fonz was awesome. Looking forward to it!

To keep motivated, I think there is a rhythm to accomplishing anything. Once you get used to that rhythm, the pain and struggle becomes familiar and reminds you that incredible things always come next.

Last night reminded me of why it’s #GoodToBeAlive, because:
1.I finally got some freaking 8s from the judges — hallelujah!
2.My bass player got to come see the show and my dancing world collided with my music world.
3.Gary Busey wore a cape for his dance and it was amazing.
4.My partner, Allison Holker’s husband (tWitch) and daughter got to come hang backstage while we did a dance about them. Aww… it was sweet.

PureDWTS Exclusive: Sharna Burgess Chats With Us About Nick Carter And Dancing With The Stars

Did you know that Sharna Burgess’ Mom was forever trying to find her when she was a toddler? It’s true, but, we’ll let her tell you all about it in more fun details in our new exclusive interview with her below!! Also, Sharna answers questions about her new Dancing With The Stars partner Nick Carter, what makes a season the most successful, and lots more!! Without Further ado, here’s Sharna. We can’t thank her enough for her time!!! Thanks to all who submitted such fun and interesting questions for her as well. ~Vogue

Hi everyone!!!! Wow what a start to an awesome season!!  I hope you all had an amazing summer!! And if you’re in LA, a continued one…. Jeez the heat dial broke at some point because it’s been crazy here!! I almost can’t wait for that sweater weather!!

DWTSGossip: What makes a season the most successful in your opinion?

That is an interesting question! I guess many would say winning the mirror ball 😉 but coming from someone that considers having had many successful seasons (not all… let’s be honest) I would disagree! Honestly, if we can give someone the experience of a lifetime, see them grow as dancers and as people throughout their journey, then I consider that successful. We all want to win, it’s in our nature, but in 20 years’ time, it won’t just be the dusty mirror ball that’s special, it will be the memories made and the friendships kept.

How do you think this season’s changes will affect the dynamic of the show?

IT’S ALREADY CHANGED!!! OMG … with TWO dances in week 2, we are all under a lot of pressure this week and you can feel how tough it’s been on a lot of people. Nick and I didn’t rehearse on Tuesday and we had camera blocking on Saturday so we had 4 DAYS to get 2 DANCES together. Even with the talented Mr. Carter it has been very stressful. I’m not saying I like it, but, I do think it makes for great TV, and it puts the pressure on earlier which is kinda exciting for our viewers.

On a different side, I love that the pros have been given the opportunity to have a dance be about us, and the package about us! That never happens and we are all very grateful for it. It means that you all get to know a little bit about us, and I think that’s really special. Mine is about the town I grew up in and my family. Read more..

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 2, Tuesday – Power Rankings

And judging by the overall demeanor of the couples and judges last night, kids – DOING TWO DANCES IN WEEK 2 IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. Just felt like everyone was stressed-out and feeling the strain – I dug hearing about everybody’s hometown, but I don’t know that it was worth it to see everyone so on-edge. Glad we’re back to just ONE dance per week next week.

Something else I’m glad about next week? Alfonso at the judges table to hopefully give some positive, relevant critiques – because tonight, the judges table on the whole just seemed like a bunch of petty, bickering toddlers in need of a nap. Carrie Ann was the worst offender – wayyyy too hard on the couples last night, and prone to honing in on stupid sh*t (i.e. the ignominious “lift policing” – give it up, CA; it’s not relevant or cute). At times, I felt like grabbing all three judges, shaking them hard, and saying “You DO realize they had to do TWO dances this week, right? And it’s ONLY WEEK 2???”

Sad to see Victor go 🙁 But if I’m being honest, I’m not exactly surprised.  As an athlete from a more obscure sport with a less mainstream following, I knew Victor was likely going to struggle with votes. And while a lot of the Karina fans seemed eager to argue with me on Twitter that this season “was different” and that she “wouldn’t go out early like she did with Sean & Randy” – hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. If a more mainstream name like Randy couldn’t get the votes – Victor unfortunately didn’t stand a chance. Karina fans, you’re good power voters – but I don’t think you’ve reached the point where you can compensate for a celeb that has little to no voting fanbase.  It is what it is – and fingers crossed that we get an epic dance from Victor & Karina at the finale 🙂

Monday’s power rankings are here if anyone needs to catch up. Read more..

Pure Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Week 2 Night 2 Media And Interviews

I’m still sad about Victor and Karina being eliminated, but, I’m so glad he danced on Dancing With The Stars. He might have been a little guy, but, he has a huge heart and he danced with it in the same way as he jockeys. Victor, thank you for dancing!! We are all the better for it and getting to know you!

So, onto the scores. I was having issues with my stream last night and I missed how Tamar and Val scored the highest. WHA? I reviewed their dance again just now and I don’t get it, but, ok. 😕 In my opinion, Nick and Sharna should have been at the very top.

Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy: 25 of 30
Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess: 24 of 30
Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough: 23 of 30
Hayes Grier and Emma Slater: 23 of 30
Andy Grammer and Allison Holker: 23 of 30
Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold: 22 of 30
Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas: 22 of 30
Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson: 21 of 30
Victor Espinoza and Karina Smirnoff (eliminated): 20 of 30
Paula Deen and Louis van Amstel: 18 of 30
Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Tony Dovolani: 18 of 30
Gary Busey and Anna Trebunskaya: 15 of 30

Now onto some interviews. First, check Extra for some ‘behind the scenes’ goodies with Allison and Andy. Then see E Online for their interviews (so far, there is just one up). Then watch and read below. Note that the cast so far hasn’t revealed any dances yet for next week. Keep checking back as we update through out the day. Also, stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Sharna Burgess later. 😉
