Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough Write On DWTS Season 21 Week 3 By Lori
AH, DWTS! That show we know and love and occasionally strongly dislike. What would we ever do without its constant need to create as much drama as possible? Sometimes I think that we should have a running tally of all of the…. Crud… that they make us wade through and revisit during the down time after the season is over. I’m not sure how to find the humor in some of it, however.
This week’s biggest manufactured dramas is still ongoing, and has BY FAR surpassed the rest of the manufactured drama from those silly scripted packages (but at least trying to get the gullible public into thinking Alek is interested in Lindsay’s other childhood best friend keeps the public’s eyes off the real budding romance. Need to find some silver lining in the whole thing. Afterall, they owe them that much, especially after what they did last season). Yes, Kim’s stroke. Yes, I do believe that her leaving the show is the BEST thing for her and for her family. How TPTB went about it was wrong, and in my opinion, only meant to create the drama we now have. It’s creating some free publicity for the show, and they only had to COMPLETELY BLINDSIDE one of their pros and a celebrity they knew could quickly and easily create the buzz they want! Don’t make Tom be the bad guy, do the dirty work yourselves!
Carrie Ann addresses it quickly in her Parade blog by saying:
Last night’s sudden elimination of Kim Zolciak Biermann was a shocker. It was the first time in 21 seasons of Dancing with the Stars that anyone had to be dismissed from the competition due to her inability to perform. Kim was unable to dance last night after suffering a mini stroke last week while traveling. I wish her a speedy recovery and hope that she now has the time to take good care of herself. This was a first for DWTS. In past seasons, Dorothy Hamill, Jewel and Nancy O’Dell dropped out of the competition due to injuries, but they did so willingly. Jewel and Nancy O’Dell dropped out right before the season started back in 2009. And Dorothy Hamill pulled out of the competition mid-season due to a serious back injury in 2013. Injuries are a scary part of the territory of being on DWTS. A stroke is a whole different thing. And it’s very serious. So take care Kim, we are all rooting for you!
Hmmm… I don’t know what to think about what she says. What are your thoughts?
Carrie Ann’s highlight dances were Nick and Sharna’s, Alexa and Mark’s, Tamar and Val’s, Alek and Lindsay’s and Bindi and Derek’s. And she spends some time to give advice to the rest of the group, so go over there to check out what she has to say.
And Julianne’s weekly fashion blog over at InStyle has been posted with some behind the scenes. And surprisingly enough, SHE did her own make up on Monday! And I loved it, she did a great job! And yellow is definitely a great color on her.
I want to end this on a happy note, so if you want a good case of AWWWW and possibly some melted insides, check out this recent post from Washington Post sports page, they interviewed Julianne’s fiance, Brooks Laich.
Also, who wore it better this week: Julianne or Carrie Ann?
I agree with Carrie Ann about Kim. I also loved her advise for some of the couples.
As for their dresses: they both looked so pretty, but, I’m giving it to Carrie Ann this week. I love the color. It reminds me of this purple long dress I wore as a bridesmaid once.
Great Brooks addition too, Lori. #Awwwmoment
Love both dresses and they look great on these beautiful ladies.
I also agree with Carrie Ann.
I would give a slight advantage to Julianne because I like the silhouette more, but both ladies look lovely.
Can I ask what the “real budding romance” is? Is it Alek and Emma?
@IrisandLilies – Yes.
@Courtney – Thanks for the information. I may just have to create a Twitter account to vote for that pairing during switchup week.
Wait….I thought Emma and Sasha were an item??
@cindersbaby72 – They broke up well over a year ago.
Aw, Court! You’re making me happy and nervous at the same time. Don’t do this to me. I refuse to ship anyone but I’d be secretly delighted if there really was something like that in the air (although I always worry about the longevity of relationships that begin in ‘unreal’ settings).
Oh, ok, did not know that! Thanks!!
Well….. Blondes in yellow never works for me, and CAI’s dress is a really weird shape, giving her a gigantic bust, short waist and no other curves. And is that denim? She’s a misshapen cowgirl in that thing. Do not approve. I suppose Julianne wins for a flattering dress with an interesting detail, but any other colour would have been better.
Okay, I must live under a rock because I had no idea their were rumors of Emma and Alek as a possible new couple until I read this post.
I have to say, I approve wholeheartedly. I hope if it’s true that they try to keep it on the down low, because you know the producers will be all over that like syrup on pancakes.
Mr. A, I tend to agree with your assessment that yellow is a no-no for blondes. Somehow this yellow doesn’t clash so much with Julianne’s hair. Every now and then, a blonde will look smashing in a yellow gown. Does anyone remember that vintage yellow gown Renee Zellwegger wore to the Oscars about a decade ago?
That’s one of my all-time favorite Oscar looks.
I agree that the shape of CAI’s dress doesn’t do anything for her but I do like the color. I like JA’s dress best. I think blondes can totally wear yellow and I do remember that dress Susan2. I also remember Michelle Williams, Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman wearing beautiful yellow dresses on the red carpet. Maybe Nicole Kidman was more of a red head than a blonde when she wore her yellow dress..I can’t remember.
Witney also wore a yellow dress last season in one of her routines with Chris and she looked probably the best I’ve ever seen her.
I think overall I prefer Julianne’s look as the shape is more flattering than CAI’s.
I think I was kind of BS what they did to Tony. That blindsiding on national TV was horrible.
There is a fierce campaigne to bring her back with idiotic whining that “Derek got a sub, so why can’t Kim” crap. Don’t they know how the show works? Now I see there is another campaign to have her daughter take over. If any watches her show, they know that girl won’t make it a week.
@ Susan 2 – I love that vintage Jean Desses gown Renee wore too, also one of my favorite Oscar looks of all-time. Loved the Vera Wang gown Michelle Williams wore too at the Oscars (I think that’s the one Mandi was referring to in her post). Great examples of blondes wearing yellow IMO. A couple more examples I could think of: Charlize Theron in a beautiful Dior Couture gown at Cannes earlier this year and Kate Hudson in that yellow dress in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
As for Julianne vs. CAI: I’m going to have to go with CAI this week – although I think Julianne’s silhouette is more flattering, I like the color of CAI’s dress, plus I think her hair and makeup goes really well with her overall look.
If Tony was truly blindsided then he’s an idiot. The woman had a STROKE. Good lord, he was in the hospital with her, if anyone should know how serious this was, it’s him.
Alek and Emma dating?!! I totally approve! Emma is soooo cute and sweet!! If it were Jenna? Then a big NO! Ugh. I can’t stand her pandering for tv attention. She is so fake in every way!
I will vote for Carrie Ann this week. Loved Julianne’s Monday look last week.
Kim needs to stay gone. She would’ve probably been voted off this or next week anyway. I cannot stand having these housewives and bachelors on the show.
I agree PH !
How can Carrie Ann even be shocked. As soon as I heard she couldn’t fly, I thought maybe they would tape it in Atlanta and show it, but then I read about how it has to be a dress rehearsal tape or in DWTS studios.
