Maks Chmerkovksiy Surprises 82-Year-Old Fan, He And Peta Murgatroyd Attend Casamigos Tequila Halloween Party
I couldn’t help but post this news on Maks Chmerkovksiy, but, my heart was so warmed when I saw it. Apparently, Maks surpised an 82-Year-Old Dancing with the Stars fan with a private dance lesson. Be sure to read about it in full at People. Also below are some photos of Maks and Peta Murgatroyd at the Casamigos Tequila Halloween Party on October 30, 2015 in Los Angeles, California
Hankins, 82, was invited for a private dance lesson with instructor Johnny Carvalho, but had no idea Chmerkovskiy would be there. After her lesson with one of Chmerkovskiy’s pros, the DWTS alum surprised her with a meet and greet and a hug.
“She’s so passionate and an amazing person,” Chmerkovskiy told PEOPLE after the surprise. “Dancing means the same to me as it means to her. We’ve both done it when we were younger and it’s something that you never really stop wanting to do and stop wanting to enjoy.”
Hankins said her favorite dances are the waltz and the cha-cha and she always enjoyed Chmerkovskiy’s work when he was on DWTS.
“He’s always really good,” Hankins said. “I thought it would be nice to be able to dance with that man!”
Hankins, whose husband John has passed away, was born in Oakland, New Jersey and has a son, daughter and two grandchildren. Though she has been dancing since she was 5 and used to practice every week, she has been unable to dance regularly during the past few years due to health issues.
Always great when they surprise a fan. Love the costumes!
It would have been a nice story if Maks’s new manager, who makes Lizzie Grubman look competent, wasn’t calling the tabloids every time Maks goes to the bathroom. Now everything he does seems like a PR stunt.
Well, how do you know Mak’s manager sent this story to People? You don’t. I don’t consider People to be a tabloid either. Also, hate him all you like, but, this was a nice thing for him to do for someone imo. He wasn’t going to the bathroom.
#3 Vogue, by that token you don’t know that she didn’t call the tabloids. I was simply giving my opinion of the story but I guess negative opinions of Maks are no longer welcome now that he’s back with Peta.
I didn’t say that. You have a right to your opinion and I know that Maks isn’t always in the right as well as his pr people. Heidi just explained to me that pr people tip People, etc.. But, I’m just saying that this was a kind gesture and you still have to make it out as if it was a bathroom move on his part.
#5 Vogue quite frankly it makes me sad that this is the representation Maks chose to go with after he finally parted ways with Lizzie. I do think that generally when it comes to gestures like this Maks is sincere, particularly when it has to do with children. But lately it seems that everything he does is finding its way into the tabloids. Here’s Maks going to a party! Here’s Maks walking down the street! Here’s Maks going to eat lunch! Here’s Maks drinking a protein shake! It’s just hard to take anything at face value with him anymore when everything he does is ending up splashed in People and US Weekly and Just Jared and his new representative is lurking around in the background of most of the pictures.
I’m not a huge Maks fan, never was, but pr, aside, it WAS a nice gesture and I’m sure it was a very special moment for that woman. So what if People was tipped off? Everyone does it. As for his changing management, I’m sure he and/or Lizzie know why and they owe us no explanation. Hey, to me the guy is trying to get relevant again since he really seems not to be able to dance. If that means calling the paps, I don’t care. I still think it was a sincere and nice gesture.
I agree, Liz!! It was still a sincere and nice gesture no matter how you look at it.
I always have enjoyed Maks’ dancing and liked his disposition only when he had Kristie Alley for a celeb partner. But, I am impressed that he showed up and surprised his 84 year old fan with free dance lessons.
Peta and Maks look good in their costumes.
I agree KKat! And I liked him the best with Kirstie too. I also loved him with Willa Ford.
I do agree that Maks made a bad decision with his new “management” team (those fools make Lizzie look like Einstein) but I do think this is a nice gesture on his part and I really believe that he enjoys doing things such as this. I would be thrilled to get a dance lesson from him!
Vogue, thank you. KreativeKat, I agree, I too enjoyed him with Kirstie. He seemed more relaxed and happy. CarrieM, agree with mangement comment & really believe Maks did this to give joy to this woman. While Derek would be my first choice for a dance lesson, I wouldn’t turn down Maks either! I honestly think he seems relaxed and happy with Peta these last several months and wish them happiness if it is meant to be.
I didn’t realize Maks had changed representation, but I did notice that he’s been getting a lot of media time lately for a whole lot of nothing – but I also know that he’s been pushing SWAY so all of these things go hand in hand.
Getting kudos and some press for doing a good thing isn’t wrong – it’s the kind of the that everybody wins, and I agree that Maks probably enjoyed it. For all his faults (and they are plenty) I think he has a good heart.
