Be sure to check out our full list of Dancing with the Stars music throughout the season. Time for the Dancing with the Stars music:

Dancing with the Stars Season 21 THE FINALE Night Two – LIVE BLOG (Spoilers)

Who’s going to win!! Not too much longer till we find out. 🙂

Because it’s the finale, it’s really important you remember the rule below:

NOTE: DO NOT POST ONE LINER COMMENTS AND CONTINUALLY REFRESH THE PAGE!! It’s the finale – breaking the rules might get you temporarily banned. The traffic is too high for this. Please walk away from the computer for a few minutes after commenting so others have a chance without the site shutting down. Thx.

T-minus 30 minutes…

LOVED the opening number. Made me get in the Christmas spirit.

Alfonso is rooting for Bindi…and the staging in the Ballroom is hopeful. Don’t disappoint me DWTS.

Holy crap, this show is two hours long?? CRAP.

Kim and Hayes seem like eons ago, actually.  She has less rhythm than I remember. Music is live since the just screwed it up.

I still love you, Victor, you little ball of fun hips. 😀

Haha Tom Bergeron!!

Hayley makes a damn good Maryanne.

That “Carlos, yer gonna die, hahaha” from Alek KILLS me every time. 😀

I see two male pros that I don’t recognize, and one female earlier. Who are these people?

So, Victor redid his dance with the sombrero and it actually stuck this time. 🙂 But did he fall down? I turned away for one second. I was watching Bindi and Derek on All Access.

Andy Grammer singing “Right about now” – great job. Love that song.

Bwah – Gary made those outtakes. Then when his dance is starting him looking at Anna going “WHAT??”

LOVE THIS SONG “Xs and Os” I think it’s called?

Seems like Alexa and Mark’s Breaking Bad dance was danced with more confidence by Alexa this time around. I dug it.

Gary is the reason why little kids cry when they see Santa. 🙂 Loved that bit – Gary as Santa, Paula as Mrs Clause and Victor as an Elf. 🙂

Congrats to Mark Ballas and BC Jean! I think they have a hit on their hands. I’m seriously addicted to that song “Roses and Violets”.

Andy Grammer and Chaka Kahn?? Perfection.  And I love all the dancing going on on this finale – actual BALLROOM. Take notes Rob Wade – there is no reason the whole season can’t be like this.

Okay, the fusion.

First is Nick, who had a rough transition to Salsa and she didn’t really fuse the dances – they actually stopped right in the middle and switched styles.

But of course, Julianne is going to stand up and rave with OTT praise.  It’d give it a 28 or 29, but I imagine it will get a 30.

Lindsay: “Cuddle, cuddle, cuddle, let’s friken dance” LOL

Notice how Alek and Lindsay switched styles without stopping the dance? Pretty damn good. Better than Nick.

I suspect based on what Julianne just said, that they’re leveling the scores tonight, that whole “We have to remember this was 24 hours..”  Okay forget I said that, they just lowballed him. He actually danced better than Nick did.

Bindi makes me fucking cry in her package for a damn ChaCha AT!! This girl!! Unbelievable.

Nick actually has a very good singing voice. Like this song. Showing highlights from all three couples. Very nice.

THIRD PLACE – Alek Skarlatos. I think that 6 point deficit did him in.

And the winner is…

BINDI IRWIN!!!

I have to say, Bruno and Julianne lifted Bindi up…even Sharna and and Nick cheered for Bindi. And Bindi almost gives Tony a concussion with the Trophy.  I’m crying.

DWTS Season 21, Week THE FINALE – Dancing by the Numbers

Honestly, the finale Dancing by the Numbers is kinda irrelevant, but there might be someone who wants to read it, so I do it.

As often happens, the judges cop out in the finale and give everyone the same score except for Alek – and really, 9s were fair for him. Do I think all the freestyles were equal?? Hardly.  I would rank them 1) Bindi; 2) Alek; 3) Carlos; 4) Nick….but of course the scores don’t reflect that. And of course Nick got a perfect score for a jive that had some problems. :::sigh::: I should be used to this crap by now. The leaderboard?

DWTS Week 11 Table 1

Now by this point in the season, you all ought to know the story. But just in case you don’t…

DWTS Week 11 Table 2

What it comes down to is this: if Alek can’t cover the spread, it comes down to whoever gets the most votes – Bindi or Nick.

For Alek to win, he needs BOTH of the following things to happen:

  • Alek gets 12,700 more votes per million votes cast than Nick, AND;
  • Alek gets 12,700 more votes per million votes cast than Bindi.

He has to get BOTH things in order to win. Will he? It’s certainly possible. I would be bummed out by that, since I think Bindi is the better dancer, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

It’s a slightly easier road for both Bindi and Nick. To put it simply, for Nick to win, he needs BOTH of the following things to happen:

  • Nick needs for Alek to NOT get the 12,700 more votes per million votes cast than him, AND;
  • Nick needs to get ONE more vote per million votes cast than Bindi.

Same thing, essentially, for Bindi to win. She needs both of the following:

  • Bindi needs for Alek to NOT get the 12,700 more votes per million votes cast than her, AND;
  • Bindi needs to get ONE more vote per million votes cast than Nick.

It’s sorta that simple. Of course, they have the relay dance to practice tonight and then perform tomorrow. The question is, is there a point to it?? Or are the judges just going to score Alek lower and equalize Bindi and Nick whether they are equal or not (aka totally abdicating any real judging)?

If they give all of them the same score, the gutless wonders should just sit next season out. Let Len do it all. 😉 Then again, we shouldn’t be shocked – they’ve pulled this stunt many times over the years. Julianne being Derek’s sister just makes it worse. If they rank them, then I expect it will be Bindi, Nick Alek. Will that make a difference? Well, the skeptic in me says that the person who is going to win will be the high scorer in that dance, whether they deserve it or not. Why? Well, the judges like to be right AND/OR they won’t want to be accused of changing the outcome.

Of course, the other option is that one of them just blows away the competition to the point that the relay won’t change the outcome. We’ll have to save most of this discussion for Monday morning quarterbacking. That’s the way it is with a lot of the things that happen on DWTS – patterns and such are obvious once the season is over.

One of the things that happened last night that I don’t recall ever happening before is a change in the running order from one round to the next. So, what was the point to that? Why not just have Bindi go third in both rounds? Why the change? I’m not so sure it benefited Nick to follow Bindi, but going last in the finale has some advantages. It may not matter in weeks 6 through 10, but the finale has a lot of new viewers, typically.  Then he was the last guy standing with Carlos – another benefit.  It makes one wonder.  That’s some mild pimpage there – nothing like the last few seasons, but still.

Okay, enough blather. What’s going to happen?

Well, any of the three could win.  What do I think? My gut still says Bindi, but my gut is quivering. 🙂 I’m just not sure. When WAS I sure? Well…with Kellie I was pretty sure. Donny Osmond? Sure. JR? Sure. Kristi? Sure.  Hines, Donald, Meryl, Alfonso, Rumer? All sure…or pretty sure.

Here’s the problem. ALL of the conventional wisdom says that Nick should win. That Nick will win. And a large part of my brain still thinks he will win. But Bindi…I don’t know if there’s ever been a contestant like Bindi the Ray of Sunshine. And of course, Alek comes on the show right at a time of global upheaval. These three people make it a very difficult call because all three have a strength: Bindi is the best dancer and the heart of the show; Nick is the ringer, boybander with a huge fanbase; Alek speaks to our patriotism and a good bit of fear transformed to hope.

Which of the three is strongest? I’m still feeling Bindi. But I wouldn’t be shocked if either of the other two take it. I’d be bummed, but not shocked.

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 11 – Final Power Rankings!!! Who Will Win?

At the risk of sounding cliched – where has this season gone? Seems like only yesterday, I was catching flak from Keo fans for predicting that Chaka would be an early out, hoping & praying that Victor would last longer than a week, and was actually enjoying Tamar putting Val through the paces 🙂 It’s been a wild season with multiple curveballs thrown into it, and I’ll be honest – I’ll be glad to get my Monday nights back for a little while. But it’s been a fun ride 🙂

Last night…was a bit underwhelming for me, I’m afraid, save for maybe 2 dances. I think I’ve said this before, but I’m kinda over the “judges’ choice redo” dance – even if the couples don’t improve, I feel like they get lavished with praise, and the dance almost never feels 100% fresh, new, and exciting. On top of that, I feel like some couples get dances that there is really not a ton of room for improvement on (Bindi & Carlos), while others get to redo ones that they completely f’d up the first time around (Nick), and others get saddled redoing dances that so well-remembered for other reasons that their redo dance is bound to be a bit of a letdown (Alek, trying to best his rumba with Emma).  I feel like the only one that really benefited significantly from the redo was Nick – the rest either did slightly better or stayed about the same. I would have rather seen the couples either re-dance their favorite dance, or redo their favorite dance with new choreography and a new song.

Something else I’m a bit tired of as well? Hearing about how the freestyle is “the most important dance of the season” or how it is the “make it or break it” dance for the couples.  As I think Heidi has said before – the freestyle is not nearly as special as it once was, and hasn’t been nearly as important in affecting the outcome of the show in recent seasons as it has in the past.  Ever since season 15, when they started making the team dances a freestyle, and starting allowing the couples to use massive sets and lots of extra dancers in their regular dances, the actual freestyle in the finale has felt considerably less special – to the point where it can end up looking pretty similar to something the couple has already done (Nick), or is something that doesn’t even seem to fit a couple well, because they’re trying so hard to be “out-of-the-box” (Carlos). And sorry, but if America isn’t already voting for you BEFORE the freestyle round – I highly doubt they’re going to suddenly throw some votes your way because of it. You’re actually probably better off treating it as “just another dance” than trying to outdo yourself – because in all honesty, it’s likely not going to make much of a difference in whether you win or not, unless you completely f*ck it up.

As for Carlos – I doubt anyone was super shocked that the Toker 4 Jesus left us last night (credit to @sally_braden for that gem!), and I started getting an inkling that he was toast after the judges’ OTT gushing about that bizarre foxtrot of his, which felt stiff and awkward, on top of having a lack of…well, actual foxtrot in it. Lawd Jesus, somebody PLEASE reinstate Witney’s outside choreographer privileges, because these last few dances have just been painful to watch. I found their freestyle to be the weakest of the 4 we saw last night, simply because they seemed to throw in several elements that neither fit together cohesively nor really fit Carlos, just for the sake of doing something that had “never been done before”.  The bit with the lights on the hands at the beginning? Looked like they were directing ground traffic at an airport, and also – already been done before (Shawn & Derek’s bhangra in season 15). Including Paula, Hayes, & Alexa? Ok, it hadn’t been done, but did it really improve the routine? We only saw about 5 seconds of each one moving kinda awkwardly. The lift? He seemed to struggle with it, and it was the same one Alek did in his freestyle – only Alek did it better. The one credit I will give Carlos & Witney, though, is that the hip-hop steps they did seemed more impressive than the ones we saw in Nick’s freestyle. But more on that in a bit… Read more..

DWTS Executive Producer Rob Wade Talks On Success Of The Show, Expects 10,000 People At The Grove Tonight

Dancing With The Stars Executive Producer Rob Wade talked with The Wrap about the success of Dancing With The Stars. And note how they are expecting over 10,000 people at The Grove tonight for the Finale.

“We’re expecting to get about ten thousand people there,” executive producer Rob Wade tells TheWrap

“Dancing with the Stars” will wrap its 21st season on Tuesday, making it one of the most successful reality competition shows on television.

According to executive producer Rob Wade, a big part of that was the fact that the show got there first. Having been on the air since 2005, “Dancing With the Stars” laid claim to a space in reality TV very early on, which put its imitators at a serious disadvantage.

“We were just kind of first to the party,” Wade says in an interview with TheWrap. “Being the first one out and the first one that people loved is a huge benefit. I mean there hasn’t been a new reality hit in the competition space in a long time.”

What is the decision process when you’re adding new challenges or changing the show?
I think the main thing is you don’t want to go away from the heart of the show. The show’s format is very strong. So you want to keep the heart of the show. Then you’re finding something which is going to really challenge the celebrities and their dance partner … What makes it interesting is when you throw these challenges at them, because it pushes them out of their comfort zone.

What do you see as the key to the show’s success?

I think at its heart, it’s an entertainment show. It doesn’t try to be something it isn’t. It’s obviously as well just the basic of just watching people learning to achieve something, and learning to overcome their fears is a very compelling story. People relate to that each season. And it’s a very good entertainment show that people love to watch. It’s fun to watch people dance and laugh and cry and feel emotions for something. It’s got all those aspects to it. It’s a show that can make you laugh, it’s a show that can make you cry, it’s a show that can make you shout at the television. And if you’re getting that reaction from a viewer, it’s usually a good show.

More at The Wrap.
