Pure Dancing with the Stars Season 22 Premiere Video Chat – Predictions and Expectations

Last season we tried something new and held a video chat right before the premiere of Dancing with the Stars. We had almost 1000 people join us live, and we had a lot of fun talking about the premiere of DWTS with a bunch of people on camera and in the chat.

Since it was such a success, we’re going to do it again this season on Monday, 3/21 at 6:30 PM ET (3:30 PT) as a lead up to the season premiere. It looks like @juliadelbel is going to co-host the video chat with me, but we’d love to get as many of you on camera and in the chat room as possible. The more perspectives and predictions the better.

For those not familiar with the blab platform we use, you can subscribe to our video chat directly or watch the live video feed embedded below. You’ll need to use your Twitter login to join us on video, chat, etc. If you just want to watch, then you don’t need to login.

Looking forward to chatting with the Pure DWTS community. Here’s the embedded video chat:

We look forward to prepping for the premiere of DWTS Season 22 tomorrow in our live video chat!

Judge Len Goodman Comments On DWTS Season 22, Julianne Hough To Be A Guest Judge?

Len Goodman talked with USA Today about the new season of Dancing With The Stars. He’s glad to back but, he’s hoping Julianne will still fill in his shoes as a “guest judge” so he can take a few weeks off.

The new season, which features 12 celebrity-pro pairings, will be Hough-free, as both judge Julianne Hough and her brother, six-time pro dancing champ Derek Hough, will be away this season. “If Julianne has a couple of weeks free, it would be lovely if she comes back as a guest judge,” Goodman says.

He says he’s excited about the new group, especially the fact that it includes three football players: current NFL stars Von Miller — the Super Bowl MVP — and Antonio Brown and former CFL and NFL quarterback Doug Flutie, a Heisman Trophy winner.

“Those football guys are very competitive,” Goodman says. “I bet there will be a mini-competition.”

Executive Producer Rob Wade Talks On Dancing With The Stars Season 22

Executive Producer Rob Wade talked with TV Guide about the new season of Dancing With The Stars and what we can expect for theme nights, All Access, and more. He also talks on the unexpected. Read below and let us know what you think…

Some things stay the same
You know the saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” right? Much of what makes this season different than the last is simply a return to what’s already worked, and that’s a very good thing. Familiar faces, including judge Len Goodman, who sat out last season, returns to the judge’s chair again this season, and surprise celebrity guest judges will be back too. Edyta Sliwinska, a favorite dancer who took time off to start a family, is back, as is sports anchor Erin Andrews, making her triumphant return since that whopping $55 million settlement for that creepy hotel room stalking ordeal. You won’t see major format changes: You’ll still see, by and large, the same theme nights, including Disney Night, Latin night, Judges Choice and the Switch Up. “We’ve gotten to a format viewers think is fair,” says executive producer Rob Wade, “and they’re comfortable with it, so we don’t want to change it.” Makes sense!

Expect the unexpected
A lot of this will be a surprise, but expect more non-dancing content this season. Wade says DWTS will up the ante in terms of behind-the-scenes content and “editorial pieces” full of humor unscripted moments. “We’re really going to embody the liveliness of the show,” Wade says. Think more variety show than purely dancing competition. “We’re not afraid to rip up rule book up a bit.” To wit, All Access, the post-show, expands this season with more content, including breakdowns, interviews with the cast, and their after-party, streaming right after the TV broadcast ends.

Not sure what I think of the Variety stuff? I just want to see great dancing. We’ll see?
