PureDWTS Court Rants: The Argument in Favor of Outside Choreographers

Ever since the “Choreography Emmy-gate” scuttlebutt erupted last summer, there seems to be a new, controversial topic I see thrown around more and more amongst the fans: the pros using/not using outside choreographers. And there have been offshoots of that topic as well – how much credit outside choreographers should be given (if any), the contractual ins-and-outs of using outside choreographers, and whether or not the use of an outside choreographer somehow makes a pro “less talented”.  And honestly – it kinda gets my goat, because fans that know little to nothing about how choreography works suddenly have their noses in the air about some of the pros on the show using them. So I’ve been meaning to do this for awhile now: just a post setting the record straight, and hopefully addressing some of the misguided opinions I’ve heard about the use of outside choreographers on the show. Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, baker, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donnie Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night" as a paso doble.

Kim Fields and Sasha Farber Visit Access Hollywood, Talk DWTS and Real Housewives

I just love Kim and Sasha – such positive, fun people. Kim’s laugh is amazing! Love how Kim doesn’t fault NeNe for her view point.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Karina Smirnoff And Doug Flutie Dance And Attend The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation Autism Gala

Awww, isn’t this a fun photo below of Dancing With The Stars Karina Smirnoff and Doug Flutie? Last night in Boston, they honored Doug’s parents with their waltz from last week’s show night at The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism’s Night to Shine gala at Gillette Stadium. More below from the Boston Herald. See the link to read more.

The BC football hero announced a new Autism on the Go campaign to raise funds for the foundation’s active lifestyle program, inspired by his parents, who were dedicated to their three kids’ interests and activities.

Flutie wept after his emotional “Dancing” performance last week, which he dedicated to his parents, who died within minutes of each other last fall. He said his late mom would have been “shocked … proud and surprised” by his waltz.

“My mom loved this show and lived for dancing. I think, especially for me, to be here doing this on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ she knows how far out of my comfort zone it is,” Flutie told our Left Coast correspondent.

Flutie said he still struggles “on a daily basis” to understand how he lost both parents on the same day.
