Dancing with the Stars Season 22, Week 4 – Live Blog!! (Spoilers)

Back from New Orleans and currently on the Kale Smoothie diet as a result. This may result in general crankiness during the show tonight. Hold on to your hats. Two wishes: Dick Van Dyke and Derek Hough. 🙂

Heh. Not overly impressed with the opening number – but it is Mandy Moore, so there you go. It was an improvement from previous numbers  – until we got to the Val pimpage portion. :::rolls eyes:::

Aladdin wore a fedora and there was shiny spandex? Seriously, I’m asking.  This is an unfortunate position for Sharna because they did pretty well…and on little rehearsal time. Gonna be really hard to get him to practice more. Very kind edit too, from what I’ve heard. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Zendaya Hopes To Bring A Unique Perspective To The DWTS Judging Panel, Teasers From Jodi Sweetin

Just a couple of more last minute things before Dancing With The Stars. First, below are some thoughts from Zendaya about judging Dancing With The Stars tonight. She’s hoping to bring a unique perspective to the judging panel tonight…

“A lot of people think I’m going to just praise everyone, but I definitely am going to give some criticism if I think it’s warranted,” the Disney Channel star tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The K.C. Undercover star knows she’s not as versed in the technical aspects of ballroom as her fellow judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tolioni, but she believes she brings a unique perspective to the panel.

“I’ve been a contestant before so I can understand what it takes to get out there on that stage in a way that none of the other judges can,” says the actress, who placed second to Kellie Pickler in 2013.

See People to read even more.

Secondly, Jodie Sweetin has written a new blog for People. Below is a take describing her Disney dance with Kep Motsepe tonight. Be sure to read more at the link.

The dance is super high-energy and fun, but there are a few things that have made this week more nerve-racking than past weeks.

First off, the dance is about 30 seconds longer than our routines have been in the past. That may not sound like a long time, but it’s a ton when you consider our dances were only about a minute until now. At the end of every run-through of the routine, I’m exhausted!

And secondly, we are adding a fun but difficult technical element to our dance – we are going to be dancing with the animated characters from Zootopia.

That meant we had to have our routine locked in early and send video of the rehearsals to the animators so they could prepare the animation.

Karina Smirnoff Writes About Dancing With The Stars Week 4 With Doug Flutie

Karina Smirnoff has written a new blog at People previewing tonight’s dance with partner Doug Flutie. She says she is Mary Poppins and Doug is the “Chimney Sweep”. Here is to this sweet couple. More below…

This week we are having a ton of fun preparing for our jazz routine set to “Spoon Full of Sugar” from Mary Poppins.

I’m being Mary Poppins and Doug is the chimney sweep. He’s been so cute and great at getting into character – and even better at picking up the steps!

We actually had most of the choreography down by last Wednesday, which was just one day after we started working on the number. That’s huge!

I always knew Doug was a fighter and I was hoping there was a dancer underneath it all but he is even exceeding my expectations.

With so much time to perfect our routine this week, I hope tonight we can get out there and just have a ton of fun. And I hope the audience has fun too!
