Sharna Burgess Writes Of Her Favorite Moments From Disney Night On Dancing With The Stars (Photos)

Sharna Burgess has written a new blog at Extra. She writes of her favorite moments last night with Antonio Brown. She also writes of the obstacles they overcame this week.

It is incredible to think that we went from one of the lowest scores last week, to one of the highest scores last night. Antonio Brown made me so proud, watching him on that stage nailing every part of this routine was amazing. My favorite part was him trying to better himself right until that music started for the live performance. He was an amazing student this week. I could not be more proud of how much he grew.

Seeing that smile on Len’s face when we walked over to the judges’ table, I immediately knew this would be a great score for us. I did not think it was going to be that high! I am so proud of not just Antonio, but us as a team. We overcame many obstacles this week with lack of rehearsal time and it shows just how much we can achieve as a couple together.

This is our best performance so far of the season. It truly showed me how much Antonio is capable of. To see him dance up there with four pro dancers behind him and hold his own, really made him stand out. I think that was a really important thing, coming from such low scores. It was necessary for us to show how talented he is, how hard he works, and how much he wants to move forward in this competition. I think this is the beginning of our journey. This is where we see him really start to kick in and excel at this competition.

More at Extra on her feelings about the Switch Up dance next week.

Carrie Ann Inaba Writes On Her Favorite Dances From DWTS Disney Night And More

Carrie Ann Inaba writes on her top three performances last night on Dancing With The Stars at Access Hollywood. She also posted some photos from “behind the scenes”.

Antonio and Sharna’s Aladdin-themed Jazz routine was absolutely incredible…”Boomin” to be exact. It’s not easy to come right out of the gate, perform first of the night and gather 9s the way he did, especially after being at the bottom of the leaderboard just last week. I believe he has found his sweet spot. He was easily the coolest male performer of the week and their dance set the standard high for the rest of the night. Antonio was clean and sharp, slick and cool, and worked well with the men who danced with them. Sharna was very clever in putting a performance together that played to his incredible skills as a team player. He gets my vote for most improved as well as best male performance of the night.

Ginger and Val’s Beauty and the Beast was nearly flawless. The staging, the costumes, the choreography but really, that hold! When she got into hold, her posture was incredible, the hold was magnificent and her lines were so refined. She brought Belle to life in a way that I could see the kids in the audience reacting as if they were at Disneyland watching a live show. It was magical.

Finally, Paige and Mark’s Toy Story themed Quickstep proved that Paige is the one to beat at this point. She’s been on top of the leaderboard for two weeks in a row now. Mark’s choreography really shines with Paige as his partner, they are a match made in DWTS-heaven, that’s for sure.

Erin Andrews’ Style Blog For DWTS Season 22 Week 4 – Did you like her dress?

Didn’t Erin Andrews look incredible again last night on Dancing With The Stars? You can read how she and the crew put her look together at People Style Watch. They posted photos too.

“For [last night’s] look, we wanted to go very princess-y and whimsical in the spirit of Disney,” Greene tells PeopleStyle. “Erin looked like she was part of Tinker Bell’s fairy princess squad. I loved that she could twirl and feel like a princess in this gorgeous Paolo Sebastian gown. The whole look was very soft and pretty.”

But Andrews admits, the feminine number was far from her usual “edgy” ensembles. “This dress was very different for me,” she tells PeopleStyle. “I’ve never done a floral look. I usually try something with an edge, but as soon as I put on the dress, I wanted to figure out how we could make it work!”

And the host’s whimsical ensemble wouldn’t be complete without a soft, feminine beauty look. Enter Andrews’ glam squad — makeup artist Lisa Ashley and hairstylist Ryan Randall — who played up the princess theme with a pretty pink lip and an equally romantic flower-adorned updo.

“I’m more of a tomboy than a girly girl, but with a dress like this, a princess updo and glowing makeup it was fun to change it up,” Andrews admits to PeopleStyle. “My team kept saying, ‘You look so pretty!’ Such a fun change and a great excuse to get into character.”

Emma Slater Shares A “Behind The Scenes” DWTS Disney Night Photo Diary And More

Are we loving Dancing With The Stars Emma Slater’s blogs this season or what?! You won’t want to miss visiting Hollywood Life as she has posted such cute photos from “behind the scenes” (I especially love the doggie photo with her and Sasha). Below are her thoughts on the opening number, Brittany Cherry being back, Sasha Farber and more….

First off let me say this, I love, love, LOVED the opening number on this week’s Dancing with the Stars! The whole show was full of beautiful animation and fun use of visual effects. The producers are truly great at what they do. Dancing Giselle?! Whaaaat?!! Giant toy boxes?! Hayley Erbert as Snow White with her dwarfs?! Brilliant! So much fun! This week is so prop heavy and animation crazy that it can often be one of the most stressful weeks on DWTS. Plus, the show has added extra dancers this week to magnify the individual performances as it’s such a grand week with lots of characters.

So BRITTANY CHERRY is back folks!! Yes you probably saw her kicking butt out there in a gorgeous jungle cat onesie 😉 I would have always loved to have done Beauty and the Beast for Disney week but as a Pro dancer you have to be quick to request a Disney movie because they go fast! So I always used to ask the producers weeks in advance and then just pray I suggested it first. Looking back on other seasons, probably for me, the best Disney Week performance on Dancing with the Stars would be James Maslow & Peta Murgatroyd when they danced a contemporary to Frozen‘s “Let it Go.” Peta added magic to it by including floor animation to the dance. STUNNING!

Anyway, this weeks blog, I’m still going to comment a little on the couples left in the competition but I wanted to get a little creative and give you more of an insight into this marvelous show. Not many people really get to see the unparalleled brilliance of the team behind the screen. Walking into the CBS studios on this evening, I see that all the backstage crew have kept up the tradition of wearing Mickey ears while they work. I had a quick selfie with Cindy (and her ears) who works in wardrobe. We did a little video for her niece near the trailers outside the main building. There are roughly 30 trailers on the lot, all numbered and each designated to a Celebrity or a Professional dancer. This means that in-between dress rehearsals and wardrobe fittings there’s a warm, neighborly vibe going on! Sounds almost weird but true! DWTS village, I called it. Witney [Carson] & I were neighbors but we never saw Val [Chmerkovskiy] or Mark [Ballas] for instance because they would be on the other side of the “trailer park!” Cast members keep their doors open to chat to each other, it’s very friendly. I was always trailer 25, last season Hayes [Grier] was 24. I’d always just hang out in his trailer sitting on the desk and telling him what he needs to remember during the dance. Ah I do miss the blank faces he gave me! Hayes, I love you.

Sasha [Farber]‘s call time this week was 8am which is an early one for him actually but he doesn’t complain because my call time would be 7am! Yep, the female Pros & Celebs of DWTS start at 7am (seriously!) and go straight into hair and make up spending up to 90 mins in each. Within this time you also have to get your body gloriously bronzed by standing in your trailer and getting sponged down. Oh the glamour of it all! But anyway, I’m in danger of waffling on so I’ll get onto the dancing tonight…

Lots more at Hollywood Life.

Dancing With The Stars Marla Maples And Tony Dovolani Dance On Kelly And Michael

Awww, no words. Beautiful….

ETA: Tiffany was sad about her Mo’s departure. From US Weekly….

Nevertheless, Maples was the standout of the evening in the eyes of her 22-year-old daughter. “I’m so proud of my mom,” Tiffany tells Us. “And I’m so sad that she was voted off! But I think every week she did better and better and she was the perfect Little Mermaid this week and last week I think she did an amazing dance to the song ‘Happy!’ I think everyone tries their hardest and she truly was amazing.”

A source tells Us Weekly that radio host Maples did not anticipate to be voted off at all and felt totally blindsided and disappointed. Still, an observer says Maples was “very lovely and gracious” about the entire process.

Indeed, Maples spoke to Us about the experience and said she was lucky to have her baby girl in the audience. “She just supports her mama, she’s in shock,” Maples says of her daughter. “She’s really sad. We’re all sad, but we have to trust there’s something bigger and better coming up!”

ETA2; Thoughts from Val at People;

“I want to commend Marla on her grace,” Chmerkovskiy told reporters after Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars of this week’s eliminated contestant. “I hope she leaves with a great feeling. She had a great showing, and it was sad that she had to go.”

Chmerkovskiy – who, along with his partner Ginger Zee, tied for Monday’s highest scores – thinks there’s one aspect of the show that Maples dealt with particularly well: being introduced as “the former Mrs. Donald Trump” week after week.

“This is Hollywood, and people tuning in every week don’t always remember what happened the week before, so we want to introduce our celebrities in the most [succinct] way,” said Chmerkovskiy, 30. “But having said that, I think she has other things I think we could celebrate outside of her being the former Donald Trump’s ex.”

Dancing with the Stars Season 22, Week 5 SWITCH UP – Who’s Dancing What…and With WHOM?

Well, it’s time once again for the switch up. We’ll see once again the producers agenda…or will we?? I can’t be bothered to track the voting any more since it hasn’t reflected reality once since they started doing the switch up.

ETA: And our first confirmed switch couple is… 😀 I’m pretty happy with this one – I think they’re gonna work well together. -Court-

ETA2: And it looks like the updates are coming fast & furious – it looks & sounds from Von’s latest Snapchat that he got Lindsay, and source confirms that Wanya got Witney…which means that Peta got Doug and Karina got Antonio.  I daresay the only person that probably doesn’t benefit from the switch is Wanya, but thankfully he’s so rad that it likely won’t matter.  Antonio’s got a rude awakening coming his way…and I can’t wait to watch 😀

ETA3: Judging from the snazzy hat on the silhouette they showed of Ginger’s partner on GMA, she got Mark. Other couples coming up…-Court-

ETA4: Rest of the couples posted, and Mark says he & Ginger have salsa next week. Thoughts? I’ll be back in a bit, gotta head to work…-Court-

ETA5: Songs posted…today is kicking my ass. -Court- Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS Season 22, Week 4 – Power Rankings

Full disclosure: I’m actually not all that excited when Disney week rolls around.  I know everyone gets so caught up in the magic and the wonder and the childlike joy, but I often find myself distracted by songs that don’t really fit the dance styles they’re meant to have, loud costumes, sets that seem to draw attention away from the couple, and the copious use of the troupe. I actually much prefer theme weeks like acoustic week or classical week, where things are stripped down – or better yet, no theme at all.  Just let them DANCE.

Unfortunately, while I would normally have menial things like I mentioned above to gripe about, last night I found myself just absolutely floored at the disparity in judging & scoring that was going on.  I wasn’t even terribly concerned with Zendaya – overall, she did a good job and didn’t rock the boat too far, which is all I can really ask for – I found myself particularly peeved at Carrie Ann, who picked very convenient times to really crack down on certain couples and conveniently overlook the shortcomings of others.  And while last week gave me hope that TPTB might give up on the preseason narrative of pimping the football players and ABC darling Ginger and just let the chips fall where they may, this week the narrative is back with a vengeance – the only change made is that they seem to have decided to to put all their eggs in Antonio’s basket and drop Von, which is probably the most asinine thing I saw all night, given what I’ve seen and heard of the former’s work ethic (or lack thereof). Things are not nearly as rosy as they were made out to be in his package, kids – when you only manage to put in roughly 10 hours of rehearsal time in an entire week (most couples put in 6-8 PER DAY) and you’re apparently late to rehearsal because you’re too busy “always closing” and “getting the job done” and “blessing up” by posting pix of your shoes/house/car/workouts on Snapchat, I’m gonna go ahead and assume that your heart ain’t in this…in which case, you can GTFO. There are too many people on this season that are busting their asses week after week, and putting in the hours in the studio and giving us fantastic performances and heaps of gratitude for the experience, for this show to keep carrying the dead weight of someone that isn’t giving 100%.  I only want to see people who clearly want to be there – and TPTB aren’t helping, with some of the f*ckery we saw with the packages tonight.  I know we often complain about some getting a “bad edit” – keep this in mind: there is also such a thing as an overly-kind edit…

Makes me a bit sad to see Marla go, simply because I found her endless optimism and zen attitude refreshing – plus, while her dances maybe didn’t always excite me, I did find them pleasing and soothing, in a weird way…I found myself kind of hypnotized by her waltz last night.  Glad to see Dougie staying, though, because I do think he’s go more to show us – thankfully, I don’t see anyone going home next week (as is usually the pattern for switch week), so we’ll get at least two more dances out of him.  Getting a lot of questions about who I want to see in the switch – honestly, I have given up on the switch, and I’m just trying to be at peace with whatever pairings we end up seeing, and just hope that some of my more fragile babies (namely Nyle, Doug, & Jodie – and to a lesser degree, Von – I’ll explain later) get partners that are able to be patient and nurture them. I don’t worry as much about Wanya or Paige – I think they’ll thrive no matter what partner they get in the switch. Kim ought to be fine, too, and I don’t really have any investment in who Ginger or Antonio gets.  I guess I’m just hoping that the switch isn’t just another tool to further the agenda we saw this week – I know that’s wishful thinking… Read more..
