Dancing With The Stars Marla Maples And Tony Dovolani Dance On Kelly And Michael
Awww, no words. Beautiful….
ETA: Tiffany was sad about her Mo’s departure. From US Weekly….
Nevertheless, Maples was the standout of the evening in the eyes of her 22-year-old daughter. “I’m so proud of my mom,” Tiffany tells Us. “And I’m so sad that she was voted off! But I think every week she did better and better and she was the perfect Little Mermaid this week and last week I think she did an amazing dance to the song ‘Happy!’ I think everyone tries their hardest and she truly was amazing.”
A source tells Us Weekly that radio host Maples did not anticipate to be voted off at all and felt totally blindsided and disappointed. Still, an observer says Maples was “very lovely and gracious” about the entire process.
Indeed, Maples spoke to Us about the experience and said she was lucky to have her baby girl in the audience. “She just supports her mama, she’s in shock,” Maples says of her daughter. “She’s really sad. We’re all sad, but we have to trust there’s something bigger and better coming up!”
ETA2; Thoughts from Val at People;
“I want to commend Marla on her grace,” Chmerkovskiy told reporters after Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars of this week’s eliminated contestant. “I hope she leaves with a great feeling. She had a great showing, and it was sad that she had to go.”
Chmerkovskiy – who, along with his partner Ginger Zee, tied for Monday’s highest scores – thinks there’s one aspect of the show that Maples dealt with particularly well: being introduced as “the former Mrs. Donald Trump” week after week.
“This is Hollywood, and people tuning in every week don’t always remember what happened the week before, so we want to introduce our celebrities in the most [succinct] way,” said Chmerkovskiy, 30. “But having said that, I think she has other things I think we could celebrate outside of her being the former Donald Trump’s ex.”
OMG! I actually agree with Val saying other things could’ve been said about her other than the “former wife of Donald Trump.” I thought she was kind and gracious and IMO I wish a certain “boomin” NFLer had left…..
Liz, I agreed with him too. She was full of grace!
I feel bad if the part about her being blindsided is true. If it is, shame on Tony for leaving his partner unprepared. He KNOWS how this show works and he should have been preparing her for it. I hate that she went, she is a lovely, lovely woman.
Cheryl L…I don’t think its Tony’s fault for leaving his partner unprepared. Maybe he wasn’t prepared for it either. I don’t think they were in jeapordy the week before.
If you watched the afterparty on access with Dominic…Tony was really upset. He wouldn’t even respond in the interview and just stood there quiet. His facial expressions said it all.
Also, in an earlier interview during rehearsals. Tony said he really felt like he may be able to go all the way or really far with Marla, and she felt the same way.
And during the elimination last night you could hear Tony saying “I told you” to Marla.
Sorry Cheryl L., but there is no need for Tony to be ashamed because everything he did was for his partner to shine and without him Marla may have not even gotten to this week. They have an amazing relationship and a 30 second package can’t prove that it wasn’t a great one.
Eh, EmnEm – Tony has been on this show longer than anyone else, yet seemed the least prepared for the possibility that they could be eliminated on THIS season, of all seasons. *I* called it right and I’m not even there in the studio to pick up vibes or see how talented other couples are or how big their fanbases are. It really wasn’t a stretch to figure they might be going home. Derek and Mark usually know – why doesn’t Tony??
Is it just me or does Tony seem to get blindsided more often than most veteran (and even newbie) pros?
For all of Tony’s experience on the show, he seems to know less about how it works than most of the other pros. I don’t know that it’s willful ignorance, but rather I believe he is just oblivious. What a shame for his partners.
I agree with Val. The only way they would address or speak with/about Marla was to say the former wife of DT. She was and very gracious, however, but not good of a dancer. Perhaps people got tired of the introduction that particular way. You get tired of hearing DT. Maybe, Tony thought that name amongst DT supporters would channel votes Marla’s way.
I’m rather surprised at Tony.
Well of course the show was going to say DT any chance they could hoping it would gain traction, Rob said they cast her because he was so big in the news right now. So why should she resent it (she didn’t seem to), that was why she got the chance at all. To her credit, she didn’t capitalize on the connection, she embraced the show, did the work, and they produced some lovely dances.
Marla is such a lovely lady. I’m happy that she got to show America who she is.
