Dancing With The Stars Allison Holker Talks On Her New Hair Cut, New Family Photo

Allison Holker has a brand new hair cut and it is so cute. You can see it below in a new family photo. Glamour asked her all about it. Here is more…

Lipstick: When you go back on the show, will you put your extensions back in?

AH: I think what’s really nice about DWTS is that every single week on the show they highlight a different theme. So I don’t always have to be the same. If it‘s Disney Week, I can show up as Cinderella and have my hair in a wig. Or I can make it blond and wear a topknot—or even a wig. I could put clip-ins in. The show lets you be in character. So I think I’d probably stick to the short hair and depending on the different dance styles, I would change my hair.

Lipstick: It’s so true how you can channel different characters or personalities by changing your hair.

AH: I’m not going to lie, it makes me feel sassier! I’m not sure how my husband feels about it, but I like it. I feel like I can do the winky face now. I’m way sassier.

Lipstick: How long does it take you to style your hair now?

AH: Easily 10 to 15 minutes. It’s really a dream. Before it used to take me at least an hour to do my hair. I use Nexxus Therapy Replenishment System at home. A lot of times my hair becomes really dry and rigid after I clean it, this makes it feel so smooth. And I hardly use conditioner. If I do, I use the Pureology Pure Volume Conditioner. So I feel like I’ve found my system with my hair that really works, and I’m of course still learning different ways to style my hair. It’s just really fun to play with it. I feel more adventurous with it.

Lipstick: Do you think this cut will stick around for awhile then?

AH: I’m definitely sold on short hair—especially since I have clip-ins. There are times where I want my hair bigger or thicker, or I want a long braid. I’m so used to already using clip-ins that I feel comfortable wearing them if I want my hair longer for a day. I’m also willing to go shorter now! It gave me a lot of confidence in my hair. Before I didn’t have any. I was so terrified that cutting my hair wouldn’t suit me, that I would look bad, etc. I looked at it as such a negative, and I was so terrified to try, but now it’s so wonderful.

I feel like the way we, as a society, often look at women is that long hair is beautiful, that it’s such a womanly thing. But having short hair is so powerful. You can have any style of hair and still be who you are. You’re kind of liberating yourself when you don’t have to worry about this extra weight on you. We don’t have to limit ourselves to one thing. We shouldn’t have to look at a woman being one look—there are so many things we can do.
