DWTS Sharna Burgess Writes About Dancing With Antonio Brown This Week And More
Sharna Burgess has written a new blog at Extra. She and Antonio are sounding stronger than ever.
Now we are on the same page and stronger than ever. We have created a great friendship, but as his coach I had to knock him down a little bit so he could fight to get back up. And he could prove not just to me, but to himself and all the fans that were watching that actually he does want this. He does smile in the face of adversity and we can still win this. For us. For our fans. For Steeler Nation. We can still take this all the way to the end!
Moving forward with our newly found strength, I am so excited for what is to come. It has come at the right time because we are about to start double dances. That only requires more time and more effort. We have Team Dance this week — it is girl celebrities against guy celebrities. We have a fantastic song and I really think we could win this one for the boys. I know nobody wants to go home, but we do have double elimination so every point counts. We also have the Tango next week for Icons Week with an incredible Rolling Stones song.
Going on Week 7, Team Boomin is back. We are stronger than ever and we are about to make everyone proud!
More at Extra.
I guess being thrown under the bus in the edit didn’t kill her as she could still write this but she must have some tire tracks down her back.
Exactly it is like a student flunking a test and blaming his teacher because he never studied. Makes me wonder if he got through school that way too. I guess Sharna has to tow the party line but if I were her I’d be furious. Still praying his little show goes BOOMIN’ right in his smug little face.
Team Booming is back? Well the jury is still out on that one.
Up until this season I have been a huge Sharna fan but all of that has changed. Now she is probably one of my least favorite pros on the show. Sadly.
And Antonio better not WIN this season. Or I may have to boycott this show. He has not earned his spot in the finals.. No way, now how. Period!
He’s a world class football player, Narice – he was probably handed good grades all through high school and college just so he could help the various schools foot ball programs. It’s a racket.
Antonio famously – or infamously – was denied entry to FLORIDA STATE over academic concerns, despite his athletic talent. If you’ve seen some of the goons to come out of that program, you can see why it’s astonishing.
That being said, it’s not for me to say that Antonio is dumb or intelligent or not a hard worker or anything – he obviously possesses extreme physical intelligence and academics might just not have been a passion of his. He’s worked hard enough to amass a fortune as an elite player. It’s just disappointing to know what COULD have been if he tried as hard at DWTS as he does at football (which despite his tardiness, he wouldn’t be where he is without it). I could have excused it as Antonio just wanting to do this for fun – which again, is totally his choice and not necessarily a bad thing to want to experience it for experience’s sake. But when he came out and declared himself a winner, and wouldn’t accept anything less, mad at Sharna, etc., then I have a problem with his attitude thus far. If you want to win – even a silly dance show – it’s hard work.
While I do believe Sharna didn’t purposely motivate Antonio this way, and that a lot of his griping has to do with behind-the-scenes stuff with her, I DO agree that this was a wake up call for him. Will it last, and is it too little too late? I guess we’ll see.
Yes yes it is a racket and always has been Heidi. As much as I’d love to believe things have evolved in my 55+ years the sad fact is they are pretty much the same or worse.
My take is that it wasn’t so much a wake up call (at least what I would consider a wake up call) as it was a real blow to his ego to see what Sharna was able to do (and the scores she was able to get) with Nyle, and felt a bit abandoned by her comments.
I am in disagreement about Antonio because I feel that Sharna wasn’t completely innocent the first part of the season. I also felt like Antonio that Sharna wasn’t dealing with their partnership. She is the leader as far as partnership goes, and should have sat Antonio down and had that talk way before Antonio finally sat down and talked to her. I didn’t like how she talked during switch up and felt she was not fully committed to her own partner. If it would have been Derek, Julianne or Mark the talk would have happened. However, anyone wants to spin it, it takes two too TANGO. Now, that they have had this break through, I will be basing my opinion further as the last half of this season continues.
Antonio hasn’t been getting that great of scores until week 6, and hasn’t been at the top of the leader board, and I don’t see him as such a threat against Wanya who in my opinion is really the one that has been raved over by the judges (along with Ginger). I am not a ballroom dancer nor do I profess to know all the dance moves; but I do know that if I enjoy the dance, it’s good enough for me. This is really is just an entertainment reality TV show. At the end of the day, it’s the one with the votes not always the best dancer. My favorite many times didn’t win. I am enjoying Antonio’s dancing, just as I am sure many who don’t belong to internet sites and only know what they see every Monday night. My gut feeling is that Antonio, Wanya, Nyle and Paige will be the final four. There are many young people who like the Boys II Men band, so Wanya has that going for him. Also, Antonio is (like PHeidi stated), “a world class Football player.” He has Steeler nation behind him.
The Producers knew what they were doing when they formed this cast list. Last season Bindi was a “force” to be reckoned with besides the fact that Derek was her Pro partner. Most everyone adored her from the beginning to end of the season. This season there’s more competition and drama. I still haven’t decided who my favorite is, because their a several good dancers; however there would be more than several if a few pros would up their game in their choreography. Their partner has the capability to be pushed harder.
This week Antonio and Sharna have the Tango and will be dancing to a Rolling Stones song “Paint It Black” which is (in my opinion) a little too fast for Tango, and will have this couple really moving. I am suspecting that the judges will comment about it being to hectic or fast or something along these lines. It has been my feeling that Antonio isn’t the one be pimped by a long shot. He must be getting a lot of votes.
I think that Sharna was under estimating the intelligence of Antonio and his audience. I’m happy that Antonio was rather detailed about his feelings. I admire the position he took.
@diana
I admire Antonio for sitting down and getting it off his chest, also. TeamBoomin is going to be better than ever, not that they weren’t good before, cause I have enjoyed them all along.
I find nothing to admire about Antonio on DWTS. I believe he’s a very talented football player and he seems to love his children (which says something about him as a person), but his attitude toward DWTS and Sharna has been arrogant, disrespectful and rude.
It’s not Sharna who underestimated Antonio and his fans’ (supposed) intelligence, it’s Antonio who underestimated the amount of work it would take to be a legitimate contender on this celebrity dance/reality show. Sharna went into this season all excited and ready to work hard with someone who has a ton of potential to be a really good dancer. Antonio is the one who has been mailing it in and expecting everyone to fall all over themselves praising him because he’s Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers. When that didn’t happen, instead of re-evaluating the situation and buckling down to rehearsals, he throws a tantrum and lashes out at his pro accusing *her* of being the problem. That doesn’t say much for his maturity or intelligence as far as I’m concerned.
