Dancing with the Stars Season 22, Week 8 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Well, Week 8 and more weirdness to take us into the semi-finals. So, the couples are split into teams of two and each team gets a judge. :::sigh::: Judges choose the dance and the song. One would think they would pick appropriately, but I’m not going to hold my breath. I believe that’s all we know right now…except for the pairs at the bottom of the page. These came from a variety of interviews and other sources.

ETA: Vogue here. Today on Kelly & Michael, Carrie Ann said she has Antonio/Sharna and Paige/Mark for her team. She is creating something “athletic” for them. More in this post.

ETA2: Thanks to Kennedy for the heads up to look at the DancingABC Instagram. If it’s not Panic at the Disco, then that account is trolling. πŸ™‚

ETA3: The DWTS instagram strikes again. Any guess on what dance style Jodie will be doing to that song?

ETA4: All the songs and dances thanks to the ABC press release (via DWTSGossip).

ETA5: Song and Dance up date for Carrie Ann’s Team below via her instagram. And I sure hope they aren’t copying Derek Hough’s new dance art project with this. ~Vogue

ETA6: Thanks to everyone who has been telling me that Ginger and Wanya have samba – I’ve been out having a life and not surprisingly it involved booze. πŸ™‚ ~Heidi

ETA7: A few updates below thanks to Peta’s twitter and Instagram! Thanks to everyone who sent the heads up. ~Vogue

ETA8: And the rest of the dance order thanks to George Pennachio. ~Heidi

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Allison Holker Reviews Dancing With The Stars Week 7

Allison Holker is a full time Mother currently, but, that didn’t stop her from reviewing Dancing With The Stars Week 7. She chose Peta and Nyle’s dance for “highlight of the night”. She thought the “best dance of the night” went to Val and Ginger. You can read her full blog at Yahoo.

We are midway through the Dancing With the Stars season and tensions are high, competition is tough, and the true finalist are starting to reveal themselves. Up until now every couple has had their own highs and lows or great stories to tell, but now each week we are looking for more. We expect the celebrities to grow in the syllabus of dance. We are looking for details in style and technique in each dance, and of course high-class performances. It’s in this week we as an audience decide who we hope to see stay until the end.

The celebrities are under a lot of pressure this week. They have to learn two dances, one dance with their pro and one team dance β€” in this case, it’s guys vs. the girls. Not only that, but two couples had to leave the competition. Everyone is exhausted, competitive, and starting to realize how much they really want to win that mirrorball trophy. It happens every year β€” each competitor is having fun learning something new, but now the stakes are high and they want to win. But who has what it takes? Let’s discuss.

PureDWTS Season 22, Week 7 – Power Rankings

VOOOOONNNNNNNN! Not my human redwood/teddy bear/chicken man! πŸ™ I think Von was the first elim this season that really stung for me – while I liked Doug & Marla, I recognized that they had probably peaked already and weren’t going to improve much; Von, on the other hand, I thought was just starting to realize his potential. I don’t think a lot of folks realized just how hard he was working – or how much fun he was having. Did I see him as finale material? Nah, but I wouldn’t have minded seeing him at least entertain us till week 9.Β  Oh well – guess TPTB determined that there was more money to be had in backing Antonio than Von, and engineered ways to make the former look better while just kinda letting the latter do whatever on his own. If I had it my way – it would have been Antonio sent packing instead of Von. At least Von was actually trying, and came across as a down-to-earth human being, rather than a narcissistic robot.

As for Kim – can’t say I was terribly surprised or disappointed, as I had been saying for weeks that she had been playing it a bit too safe this season.Β  Kim’s dances were never bad – she was always on time, and seemed to be having a lot of fun; but they were never really particularly memorable, either – and with a season like this, where you’ve got so many powerhouses, you’ve really gotta pack a punch. I find it interesting that Kim seemed so blindsided by her elim – I had heard from a source that they overheard Kim say a few weeks back that she was “fairly sure” she was going to make the finals. Not sure if Sasha is just THAT positive a teacher that he convinced her of this, or Kim just didn’t quite see the writing on the wall, but denial is not just a river in Egypt, Kim…he’s also Peta’s partner, and the guy that’s probably going to win this season πŸ™‚

Which brings me to my next point: what does it mean that we’ve now seen Jodie, Paige, & Wanya in jeopardy, while Nyle, Antonio, & Ginger have yet to land there? I saw a lot of folks asking me to make sense of this on Twitter, and while I myself am not by any means sure of what to make of it, my best theory is this: they’re using jeopardy as a warning for some, but just as a way to boost votes for others. At this point, I still think this season is Nyle’s to lose; however, I don’t think TPTB want it to appear obvious that Nyle is running away with the trophy already.Β  They gotta make it a horse race, so it benefits them to give a bit of a boost to the couples that stand the best chance of giving Nyle a run for his money in the finale (Wanya & Paige).Β  Paige lands in jeopardy last week; Wanya this week.Β  I don’t by any means think that either is a low vote-getter, but I do think TPTB may be rallying the troops to ensure those two land in the finale with Nyle. As for Jodie – I think her being in jeopardy two weeks in a row was an effort to keep a better dancer around over a less-skilled one (part of me thinks that Doug may have actually been beating Jodie in votes during those first few rough weeks she had), and now that she’s one of the weaker dancers left – there’s no need to protect her anymore. Somebody’s gotta go home, and I don’t see them keeping Jodie over Paige or Ginger. I don’t think Kim just suddenly fell into the bottom 2 in the past week – she’s probably been there before, and perhaps TPTB just didn’t see fit to try and save her. As for Ginger & Antonio? TPTB may be starting to see the writing on the wall there – Ginger is not nearly the dancer that Paige is, and Antonio has been a colossal disappointment. They probably owe it to the ABC fam to at least make sure Ginger makes it to week 9, and with 2 of the 3 NFL’ers already gone, I guess they maybe want to enjoy Antonio as long as they can…but I think it will be a complete joke if the latter in particular makes the finale over Wanya or Paige.Β  Big credibility killer there. I think it’s getting to the point that it may be painfully obvious to just about everyone that a Nyle, Wanya, & Paige finale is the most logical scenario…so I don’t know that it really behooves TPTB to try and shake that up too much. But hey, what do I know…I’m just a lowly blogger πŸ˜› Read more..

Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, baker, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donnie Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night" as a paso doble.

DWTS POLL: A 360 Degree Virtual Experience or Longer And More Pro Dances With Well Thought Out Choreography?

As you know from last night’s show, ABC launched a new Virtual experience to Dancing With The Stars. Below is more from Broadway World. Read below and then take our new Poll. Be sure to let us know what you think in comments. The virtual experience is cool, but, I’d rather have LONGER and MORE PRO DANCES with well thought out choreography more than ANYTHING.

“We are incredibly excited to bring this brand-new experience to the fans of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ Fans at home will literally feel as though they are right in the middle of the ballroom floor. And it is definitely worth watching multiple times in order to take in all the brilliant choreography Mandy Moore has put together,” shared Dan Martin, co executive producer, “Dancing with the Stars.”

“We have been building an in-house expertise in this area and wanted our first project to be a visual feast, which it is. It truly captures all the excitement, glamour and talent that is “Dancing with the Stars,” added Robert Schefferine, VP of production, ABC Entertainment Marketing.

HQ Photos Of Dancing With The Stars Season 22 Week 7 Dancers And Cast

Below are some beautiful photos of the cast last night from Dancing With The Stars courtesy of Getty. Who had your favorite costumes? That would Sharna and Antonio for me! Antonio’s suit made me think of Prince (*sigh πŸ™ ) and I loved Sharna’s dress and long red hair. I loved Mark and Paige’s fire red costumes too. Nyle and Peta made me think of Angels. Huge kudos to the make-up, hair, and costume departments again! Click on any of the photos to see more.

PureDWTS Season 22 Week 7 Scores, Media, And Interviews After Dance Night

What another great night of dancing. Some of the dances last night really blew me away. I especially loved Mark and Paige. They were my fave of the night. They brought on the FIRE. I loved Wanya & Lindsay and Nyle & Peta’s dances too. Von & Witney were one of my favorites as well. I am so sad to see them leave. They had the entertainment factor in spades and I’m a new Von fan now. What a run for Sasha and Kim too. They should be so proud for everything they did on that dance floor and I will cherish their kindness and fun approach every week.

Ok, let’s review the scores again….

Paige VanZant & Mark Ballas (Jive) 10-10-10 for a Total of 30
Ginger Zee & Valentin Chmerkovskiy (Viennese Waltz) 10-10-10 for a Total of 30

WTAE also has a fun backstage report and they interviewed Antonio. Note that Antonio’s coach was there last night.

Also, if you missed any of the DWTS All Access interviews last night, see Stormy’s sites here and here. @Jimmbboe’s twitter account last night was lighting up the masses being Karina was one of the hosts (along with Tony) and she looked beautiful.
