Emma Slater Writes About The Dancing With The Stars Season 22 Semi-Finals

Emma Slater is devastated by the Final Three on Dancing With The Stars. Below is a take from her new Hollywood Life blog. She’s so cute…

Go Ginger Zee! It was a Ginger sandwich, with Russian speaking bread! Hmmm yummy! Although in real life, these men are actually quite careful with their carbs (well to look like that it makes sense!) Well apparently Val Chmerkovskiy is honey. Artem is mustard. Ginger is the chicken nugget. That’s a tasty snack. Well in any case, this made my dance soul happy especially at the start. During the meat of the dance though I do have to say it wasn’t my personal favorite as I found it quite hectic. It could have benefitted from some stillness and calm. The action packed routine was right for the music though, so I totally get that. It’s hard not to listen completely to the music as a choreographer and just run with that. To be able to dance between these two wonderful dancers, there had to be a big commitment from Ginger and she performed well. It was strong and sharp which is needed for Paso Doble. Just a little off balance and not quite grounded enough (that means not as connected to the floor as it should be).

There were parts of this quickstep with Ginger and Val that I really loved. In frame, rotating around each other, she extends beautifully. The posture for me though was a little off and she didn’t really seem to be as stable as she was last week. It was during her spins that I noticed this. Her energy was really fresh and uplifting though, she didn’t let up at all. I got the feeling that Ginger wasn’t as happy with how she danced this tonight, I can’t put my finger on it but I got the sense. They have a great trust/chemistry between them, I see it constantly. I see her light up while she’s dancing, it makes me so happy. I wish it did but unfortunately this dance didn’t stand out to me, but I do love Ginger and I hope they have a wonderful final next week. I can’t wait to see what she does for her freestyle!

Well that concludes the action packed semi finals. The dramatic ending to tonights episode saw Wanya and Lindsay, Antonio and Sharna go home. It was going to be hard for anyone to go but now it will definitely be different next week. Only 3 couples left! Who are you routing for? I’m torn between Nyle and Paige personally, but then I love Ginger too! So hard to choose. Well if nothing else, next weeks finale promises to be off the chain!

PureDWTS Season 22, Week 9 – Power Rankings

Five years ago, I sat on my couch, slack-jawed and speechless over the fact that TPTB had managed to oust a season-long fan favorite and great dancer from the finale in favor of a member of the ABC family advancing.   I didn’t think it was possible that anyone on this show could have gotten more screwed-over than Ralph Macchio was in season 12, in order to allow Chelsea Kane into the finals. I’ll be damned if history didn’t repeat itself last night with Wanya Morris, quite possibly one of the most hard-working, consistent, passionate, and entertaining contestants this show has ever seen, being sacrificed in favor of the decent-but-unmemorable ABC family member, Ginger Zee. And it seems to sting even more this time, because I feel like it all came down to the “hanky slip heard ’round the world” – a relatively minor snafu that the judges decided to make a molehill of, and brutally underscored Wanya last week, while sheltering Ginger with some very cushy scores on some pretty ho-hum dances. Had that underscoring (and overscoring) not happened last week, I have decent reason to believe we’d be looking at a different finale lineup.  But when it comes down to it, I guess it’s more important to ensure the company gal advances over the popular guy that isn’t part of the family, no matter how talented he may be. Good luck defending this decision, ABC – judging from the shock and dismay I saw on Twitter, you may get quite a bit of backlash for this one.

As for the good news about last night – I did manage to get 2/3 of my dream finale, with Nyle & Paige advancing, and with Antonio, the weak link in this competition since Doug left, finally getting ousted. To the Steelers Nation – guess y’all aren’t as mighty as you claimed to be, huh? I daresay with all the outrage about Wanya getting ousted, I barely heard a peep from those disappointed about Antonio going home. And FWIW, Wanya put on one helluva show – dude was 100% in the zone last night, and didn’t have a single stumble.  Just makes it all the more of a glaring omission for him to not make the finale.

So for the first time, this week’s scores are being rolled into the totals for the finale – I invite you all to contemplate why that might be.  Given that we’ll see the freestyles next Monday before the final set of votes, these power rankings are somewhat moot, as I’ll do another set next Monday. But given that they’ll actually be using the judges’ scores from this week, I do think it’s possible to predict who might have the advantage headed into the finale…and who might struggle a bit more.  So take these rankings as who I think would win/be the runner-up/come in 3rd if the winner were to be decided tomorrow. Good Morning America DWTS Season 22 Semi-Final Interviews, Recap, And Bumpers

Val and Ginger were interviewed on Good Morning America this morning. Note: along with a Freestyle, they are doing a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers Jazz number for their Redemption dance next week. Wanya and Lindsay were also interviewed. They are adorable and class acts as they talk on their elimination. Good Morning America also recapped the show.

Also, below are the bumbers from Dancing With The Stars last night….

Special thanks to @Idolxfactor1 for always having our back with his awesome recordings!

PureDWTS Season 22 Semi-Finals Interviews, Recaps, Scores, Finale Teasers, And More

My! What a semi-finals on Dancing With The Stars! I was pleased with all of the dancing. They all really stepped it up. Though in my opinion, Wanya & Lindsay, Mark & Paige, And Nyle & Peta were especially in a world of their own. I wish these were the Top Three finalists. I would have taken Antonio & Sharna over Ginger & Val as well. Oh well….I am just thankful for both Wanya and Antonio (yes, this guy too!). Faults and all, both of them were so full of muscle, power, and presence every week. I will never forget either one of them and their complete journeys. I loved Wanya’s determination, heart, and soul. I loved Antonio’s “Cancer the Crab” eyes and that unforgettable sparkling smile. I also loved the way Antonio fought back when everyone thought he didn’t care. Many had written him off (including me at times), but, he put forth some entertaining dances regardless and with so much beauty, romance, and passion in his dancing. What’s more, he ended up loving the process and the show (be sure to listen to him in the interviews below).

Ok, enough from me on the eliminations, let’s review the scores from ABC….

Wanya Morris & Lindsay Arnold w/Witney Carson (Trio Dance – Paso): 10-10-10 for a Total of 30. For their solo routine, Wanya and Lindsay did the Charleston: 10-10-10 for Total of 30. GRAND TOTAL: 60! (eliminated)

Paige VanZant & Mark Ballas w/Alan Bersten (Trio Dance – Samba): 10-10-10 for a Total of 30. For their solo routine, Paige and Mark did the Argentine Tango: 10-9-10 for a Total of 29. GRAND TOTAL: 59!

Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd w/Jenna Johnson (Trio Dance – Jive): 9-9-9 for a Total of 27. For their solo routine, Nyle and Peta did the Argentine Tango: 10-10-10 for a Total of 30. GRAND TOTAL: 57!

Ginger Zee & Valentin Chmerkovskiy w/Artem Chigvintsev (Trio Dance – Paso): 9-9-9 for a Total of 27. For their solo routine, Ginger and Val did the Quickstep: 9-10-10 for a Total of 29. GRAND TOTAL: 56!

Antonio Brown & Sharna Burgess w/Hayley Erbert (Trio Dance – Argentine Tango): 9-9-9 for a Total of 27. For their solo routine, Antonio and Sharna did a Contemporary routine: 9-9-10 for a Total of 28. GRAND TOTAL: 55! (eliminated)

Now onto some media. First, see Glamour for some interviews and backstage goodies including the video below. Lots of good stuff, though note how Val says he will have the best Freestyle next week. Really? ok. Note also that there is NO ELIMINATION next Monday night….

Speaking of next week, usually there’s an elimination on the Monday of finale week, but not this time. “Yeah, no elimination,” revealed Peta. If that’s the case, then all three contestants will battle it out for the Mirrorball trophy on Tuesday night.

ABC7 has a recap and some interviews in the video below. They also have some beautiful photos at this link.

See WTAE here and here for coverage on Antonio.

People has some recaps as well. Be watching this link as they may post more.

Below are some Access Hollywood interviews. I love how Antonio said he “grew” as a person with Sharna….

Nyle gives a few hints on he and Peta’s freestyle for next week…

Below is some coverage from ET and a few interviews. I think Alan Bersten and Paige VanZant are so cute as a couple. I have to admit, I love seeing this other side of Alan:

E news has new interviews with all the couples at this link. Note that after the show and their interviews, the finalists went straight to rehearsals.

Stormy has DWTS ALL Access coverage in case you missed all the behind the scenes interviews.

Ok, that is all for now. Stay tuned and keep checking back for more! 😉 ~ Vogue xxx

ETA: From Fox411….

Later in the show, things turned serious as VanZant revealed how she was bullied as a youth. VanZant, whose mom was a dance teacher, was harassed and verbally abused in school after becoming a cheerleader.

She told the cameras she “almost gave up on life” before her family moved from Oregon to Reno and she learned martial arts.

“I feel it was an important moment for myself because I’ve never opened up about it,” VanZant told reporters about her youthful torment. “I’ve never told anybody what happened to me [before] … hopefully some people connect with my story.”

The fighter added, “I did not expect to make it to the finals. I was very nervous. Everybody was amazing.”

DiMarco and partner Peta Murgatroyd continued to wow fans with their routines, which included an Argentine tango that he performed partially blindfolded on Monday.

“It was definitely an adrenalin rush because I couldn’t see, I can’t hear, so that’s just three senses that I have left and it’s all about holding onto Peta for dear life,” DiMarco told Fox411. “Her movement is telling me what my next move is so I move with her flow.”

DiMarco, who scored 57 points, said of making the finals, “I’m feeling honored, inspired, and relieved. The very first week I questioned myself, would the deaf guy make it that far against hearing people who can hear the music? And I think we deserved it, we’ve worked hard, we’ve pushed ourselves every week.”

ETA2: Below is an Extra interview with Sharna and Antonoio..
