Good Morning America DWTS Season 22 Semi-Final Interviews, Recap, And Bumpers
Val and Ginger were interviewed on Good Morning America this morning. Note: along with a Freestyle, they are doing a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers Jazz number for their Redemption dance next week. Wanya and Lindsay were also interviewed. They are adorable and class acts as they talk on their elimination. Good Morning America also recapped the show.

Thank you to Idol for recording this & Vogue for bringing this here to the board. Once again, I have to endure a whole lot of Ginger & Val pimping just to enjoy a brief moment of #TeamYayZee. Leaves an awful taste in my mouth that they couldn’t even devote more time to the eliminated couple – especially since Antonio & Sharna weren’t there due to losing his ID – that once again they would need to showcase Ginger & Val more. I’ve made my gripes known through the season that I was bummed Wanya & Lindsay weren’t showcased more in the media but to see this exit interview being taken over my Val & Ginger….. – Bitter, Party of many.
I dearly hope Wanya and Lindsay get to dance their Fred and Ginger freestyle as their returning couple dance selection, although I doubt the show will let them.
You know what’s nice about Vogue putting up these GMA clips for us? Being able to skip over the Ginger&Val bits.

I like the idea of a ginger and Fred freestyle I really do but Homestly looking at what they are up against its going to be boring probably. Mark is awesome with freestyles for the most part (only one I didn’t like so that’s a pretty good track record there) and peta is great with them too. Val……not so much lol.
Coincidentally, after Ginger and Val’s quickstep last night, I told my husband that it was like and old Astaire & Roger’s dance.

Its weird how they go from the eliminated couple to Ginger and Val while the couple is sitting there.
Although I’m not a big GMA person anyway, I’ve actively boycotted/avoided any of their clips this season. Too much of one person.
So Ginger actually called an eating disorder “a disease that you choose”? That was EXTREMELY ignorant of her to say and makes me even more mad she didn’t leave.
Sounds like Val is going to do a foxtrot for a freestyle, since he cover the AT-freestyle last time. :::snort::: He doesn’t really understand the word does he?
Wanya is so down-to-earth. If I didn’t know it, I’d never guess he is an iconic band member worth tens of millions of dollars. Lindsay says she was happy to be able to teach him to be comfortable with dance, but I think he taught her things that reach beyond dance. They didn’t let the reality TV aspect of the show get the better of them. I have no doubt that if the C fam had to deal with both Nyle and Ginger they’d be all over SM bitching about sympathy votes, dance experience, and nepotism.
I think she’s a terrible pro, probably the worst female pro on the show, but I have to say, Witney is a phenomenal dancer. Very similar to Keo. I’d pay good money watch her in a dance show, it’s just a shame you need to be a lot more than just a world class dancer to make a good pro on this show.

@princess Heidi: agreed lol. In a weird way I wish he would just go crazy and do something unexpected the next time has to do a freestyle just because he is getting really boring freestyle wise.
Vin, I don’t think Val is capable of “doing something unexpected” for a freestyle because that requires a degree of courage he doesn’t possess. You have to be willing to take risks and possibly fail. I think Val is very afraid of failing, and he’s by no means alone in that. Our culture has come to view failure at any one thing as a reflection on your worth as a human being. That’s why we can’t allow kids to fail classes and why we have the pee-wee mentality that “everyone deserves a trophy”.
I wonder why they hired those 3 cute guys for the troupe if they are only going to use Hayley, Jenna and Alan. I’m sure they’ll use everyone next week. I wonder if the new guys will stick around next season as they aren’t getting to do much dancing. I guess I thought we’d see some of them in the trios.
Also, I don’t have any ballroom dance experience myself so what do I know but Hayley looks awkward in that bumper but I thought she did well in the trio.
Courage…and creativity. I just don’t think he has it in him to truly freestyle.
Yep. Val seems to have a very regimented and restricted view to the creative process. If I’m remembering correctly, this is someone who choreographs the entire routine on a professional dancer before the celeb steps into the studio.
Now, I imagine lots of pros do have a pretty clear idea of how they want the routine to look, but they also get inspired by how their celeb moves and the special flair that only that specific person can bring to a step. Sometimes watching a person do the step wrong, yet it looks more interesting than the right way, can be inspiring.
I’m not saying Val’s way is wrong and say, Mark’s way is right, but I prefer a more spontaneous, free process than a calculated and by the numbers one. The former has excitement and joy and the latter has an almost sterile exactness.
Well, Val has only won once and that was with a lot of help and a string of ringers until he got it right. Mark is similar to Derek and between them they have 8 MBTs. Soo…I think you CAN say which process is more EFFECTIVE.
Besides all that, it doesn’t seem like you can go into DWTS and expect to have any FUN if you want Val as a partner.
Just no violin, please.
