Erin Andrews To Miss DWTS Tonight, Tom Bergeron to Host Solo
Our hearts are with Erin Andrews and her boyfriend. She won’t be hosting tonight as she is taking time off to be with her boyfriend who had a death in the family. Note that Tom Bergeron will be hosting solo tonight. From Entertainment Tonight….
Dancing With the Stars’ Tom Bergeron will be hosting Monday’s new episode by himself, as co-host Erin Andrews is taking time from work to be with her boyfriend, hockey player Jarret Stoll, who suffered a death in his family.
The 61-year-old long-time DWTS stalwart announced the news via Twitter on Sunday, sharing, “My pal @ErinAndrews will be absent from @DancingABC this week to support @jarretstoll whose nephew passed away. Sending hugs and condolences.”
Bergeron himself took time off from hosting the ABC reality competition series during season 21 to be by his ailing father’s side before he passed away in October 2015. Former DWTS champ Alfonso Ribeiro filled in for the host during his absence.
However, Bergeron confirmed on Twitter that he will be flying solo for the first of the week’s two episodes, and that the show will “have someone (as yet undetermined) filling in for Erin” on Tuesday’s live results show.

ETA: Kym Johnson will co-host the show tomorrow night with Tom. To read more, see Entertainment Tonight.
I’m so sorry for your loss Erin…may that young man RIP!
Condolences to Erin and her people. From a show perspective, one host might work better timewise given the short time factor tonight. Kym Johnson would make for a lovely cohost tomorrow if she’s in town.
For some reason my brain initially read this as Hope Solo cohosting with Tom and I was like “what the?!” Need more coffee, I suppose.
My condolences to Erin, Jarrett and his family and friends.
JMHO, but I have always felt that DWTS does not need 2 co-hosts. Tom could efficiently handle the whole show on his own, like he is tonight. Anyways, condolences to Erin & her boyfriend. My bet the co-host on Tuesday will be Alfonso. DWTS seems to be like a 2nd home to him as he is there more often than not.
thoughts to the family horrible news 🙁 …
I guess with the tight hour format there wouldn’t have been a lot of chat going on upstairs anyway, and you’d think they will just give the scores there and then.
@Wynn Kym would be a great choice, but Leah Remini seems to be there go to, wouldnt be surprised to see her back in the ballroom
@OzJustin: Leah is always fun but more of a planned, well negotiated thing. Kym is immediate DWTS and often right in the All
Access both in a pinch. I actually share Darlene’s opinion that the show could with just one host in the same day/elim shows, but with a two hour slot to ace one of six couples, they probably need every time filler they can get.
Eh, I think the two hosts are needed, otherwise we would never really hear from the contestants except for right after they get their scores. A lot of it is fluff, but some of it is good to help develop a relationship with the audience. Erin does a really good job, I think – much better than Brooke or others before her.
DWTS needs two hosts, and Erin has settled into the co-host role very well.
Erin is where she needs to be today (with her boyfriend and his family), but I look forward to having her back in the ballroom co-hosting with Tom as soon as possible.
My heart goes out to Erin, Jarrett, and his family. For the results show on Tuesday, I’m guessing Leah Remini or Alfonso Ribeiro as the co host.
I agree….DWTS needs two hosts. I didn’t like the way Erin hosted in the beginning, but, I really like her now. She seems to always know what to say after the couples dance. I always look forward to what she’ll wear too and how she fixes her hair.
I’m with Vogue- I wasn’t a fan of Erin when she first started hosting, but now I actually think she’s the best co-host the show has had.
My heart goes out to her and her boyfriend’s family.
Tonight with the limited time I think it will be fine to have one host. Tomorrow? My money is on Alfonso doing it (and I actually think he did a great job last time) but I’m hoping its Leah. I hated her as a contestant, but I’ve loved her as a cohost. Kym would also be a good option.
I’m sorry to hear about Erin’s boyfriend’s nephew. I have grown to like Erin also.
I’ll take Kym anyway I can get her, as in if she can’t dance, I’ll take her co-hosting. I think she will do a good job and will be respectful of why she is there on Tuesday.
My condolences to Erin, her boyfriend, and their family.
In the beginning, I wasn’t sure that I would enjoy Erin as much as I did Brooke as hostess, but I have come to like Erin even more in that position.
