A reader to PureDWTS and Pure Derek Hough named Lily has written a guest blog for us on her experience of meeting Mark Ballas and seeing him in Broadway’s “Jersey Boys”. Let’s just say, Mark blew her away. You can read her fun and sweet story below including how she met BC Jean as well. She also sent us some fun photos. Thanks Lily! You rock!
I was very excited to hear that Mark Ballas was going to make his Broadway debut in Jersey Boys! His opening night was scheduled for October 18th. And I already had a conflict because Josh Groban was also making his Broadway debut in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. I bought these tickets in May 2016!
So I planned to go to Mark’s 2nd show, on October 19th matinee! I was excited to secure front row tickets to the show. I had already seen Jersey Boys before, and I really enjoyed the show.
But Mark blew me away with his performance!!! I was very surprised with his falsetto, and he nailed all of the songs!!! I had chills when he sang “My Eyes Adored You” !!! “Sherry”, “Walk Like a Man”, “oh, what a Night”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Working My Way Back to You”, so many hits! Oh course, there were the dance moves!!!!
After the show, I waited by stage door. Everyone came out and signed, and took pictures and selfies. Mark is on vocal rest, so he wasn’t able to talk alot, But he signed and took pictures with everyone! How awesome. I was wearing my Alexander Jean t-shirt. I met a mother and daughter who knew Mark, so they were able to ask to see BC Jean, so I was able to talk to BC Jean as well. She said she remembered me from the tour! Aww how sweet!
For tickets, see this link. If any of you see the show and would like to blog about it, share pics, or videos, write to our contact link.

Laurie Hernandez has written a new blog at US Weekly. She writes of how excited she is do a Group dance this week. However, they haven’t had a lot of time to rehearse it yet. She also previews her and Vals new dance. Here is more….
I’m feeling good and I’m excited for this week because we have a group dance on top of our own dance, so that’ll be fun – and stressful — at the same time. We haven’t really figured out how we’ll rehearse the group number since we’ll continue to travel with my tour, but we had our first group rehearsal right after the show on Monday night. Our group is me, Jana, Terra and Marilu. We’re “Team Future” — next week’s theme is “Eras” so it’s all about different periods of time. Jana’s always traveling, I’m traveling so it’ll be interesting to see how this all comes together.
It’s cool to dance as a group because everyone’s different. It’s weird to see how creative everyone can be from different views and perspectives instead of just Val’s. It’s a great thing to have so many good ideas, but at the same time there’s so many cooks in the kitchen! The first hour of us trying to figure out the dance was literally just the male pros talking! And all of us girls just hung out, stressing out. We were like, “Why can’t we just start something?!” But it’s all going to work out in the end … I hope!
We’re doing a 1960s-themed quickstep this week for our solo dance. Sometimes rehearsal is frustrating because I wish I could get the steps down a little faster even though everyone’s telling me I get the steps down faster than anyone else. it’s kind of weird to hear that but at the same time, the steps aren’t easy!
Coming into Dancing With the Stars, I thought it would be a lot easier. I didn’t think it would be just a breeze, I knew it would be difficult, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this hard. It’s really hard to stay patient with myself and realize this is a whole different world than gymnastics.
