DWTS Season 24 – Derek Hough Blogs About His Uncertain Future on the Show
Derek is still mulling over the packages that he and Marilu got this season…and then he seques into talking about possibly not being back next season. I see those two thoughts as somewhat connected, but we also have to realize that this guy’s career is picking up speed. Who knows what all he has lined up that he’s not talking about yet? 🙂 Something to look forward to, for sure!! From TV Guide:
I don’t want to dwell on the rehearsal package again after last week. It is what it is. I would hope that the audience and longtime fans know and understand by now that in a short package, it’s a very faint reflection of the reality of the week. Saying that though, given my schedule this season, the only thing that I think was a bummer was that we weren’t able to do anything out of studio or an environment that wasn’t a dance studio. When you do that, you’re able to see another side to people, where it’s not just you rehearsing and working. I think that in contrast to other packages, which was everyone traveling and doing things and having fun, it’s kind of a bummer. Whenever Marilu and I saw each other, the only time we had was to get the routines down and work as hard and as fast as we can. I think we were both prepared for a possible elimination. After being part of the show for so long, you get a sense of what’s going to happen based on a bunch of things. I think we were both expecting it, but also we’re very proud. Week 9 is nothing to turn your nose up at. She did incredibly well.

I don’t know if I’ll be back next season. It’s too early to say. I have a few projects on my plate, but you never know what’s going to happen. I didn’t think I was going to come back to the show a couple times now and ended up coming back. That show will always be my family.
Right now, I’m working on Hairspray. Julianne and I are also hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas specials for ABC. We were rehearsing until like 11 p.m. last night for it. It’s going to be fun. I love Disney and ABC, so I’m stoked to be doing this. The Thanksgiving one airs Thanksgiving at 8/7c and the Christmas ones airs Christmas at 8/7c.
If you’re in L.A. this weekend, I will have two photography pieces on display at The Salon on Saturday. I’m very excited — it’s the first time I’ve ever had anything displayed. They’re signed and will be for sale. Photography’s been a hobby and passion of mine for several years, so I’m humbled to displayed alongside other great, inspiring artists.
There’s no update on Singin’ in the Rain yet. As of now, it’s still on hold. Hopefully there’ll be some news in the new year! But I need to get my butt to New York to see Mark in Jersey Boys soon!
He was very vocal about the package this time he spoke about it on all access, while doing the press line and his blogs. You can tell he really was dissapointed and bothered by the treatement he received. They have finally pushed him over the edge.Shame that this show does not know how to hold on to the good ones.
Can’t wait to see what he has lined up for us. Hearing rumors that Move3 may come up in Spring. Can’t wait to go to that one again. The end of the blog where he says be kind to everyone is so Derek. Looks like he has been reading this season. Love his message a lot. He is always an class act.
I gotta love him and his message of always being positive and kind. ❤ We all need more Derek’s in our world. I hope his photography sells and he continues with that, and publishes a book of all his work perhaps.
I love how Derek always shows the positive side of things, and doesn’t dwell on the negatives. He has always excepted things graciously while at the same time expresses his feelings without coming across as bitter or mad. I really believe he will always have a love for this show as with a family, because he knows that his popularity received a BIG BOOST by the show all the seasons he was a Pro teacher. One thing I have enjoyed and am happy about is getting to watch this amazing young man’s choreo and his dancing. It was so awesome to watch him dance while “The Jersey Boys & Mark Ballas” sang. I think Derek missed Mark not being on the show this season.
I tried clicking on the link on Derek’s instagram page to see what he said on all access, but it was only 10 seconds long, and said nothing. Basically just saw the dwts logo. Does anyone know where else I could find that all access episode?
Derek is a class act. Always has been, always will be! It’s why his adoring fans, of which I am one, LOVE him so much! I can’t WAIT for MLOT ’17! I AM THERE! Gonna save up the bucks for front row VIP tix again! IT was SO worth it in 2015!! AMAZING to be THAT close to the greatness that is Derek Bruce Hough!!
Always love Derek’s interesting, candid, and upbeat blogs! For me one of his most significant, powerful, beautiful, and profound messages can be found in his last paragraph…his heartfelt and inspirational words about love and loving one another. This message just touched my heart and moved me to tears. Derek is truly a shining light, and I love how he always promotes kindness, forgiveness, peace, and unity. He has such a kind heart and beautiful soul, and he just radiates pure joy, light, and love in everything he does, everywhere he goes. He leads by example, and his inspirational and positive messages make a huge difference in our lives. What a true gift he is to the world!
I wonder how many times did Derek said that he didn’t know if he would get back to dwts…
=P
At least with Derek you know it’s an honest answer. Unlike some, he has lots of other stuff going on.
