Tony Dovolani Talks On Coming Back To Dancing With The Stars And More
In this “Home And Family” clip below, Tony Dovolani talks of why he took a break from Dancing With The Stars. One of the reasons he took a break is because his sister had cancer which she beat (thank goodness). So, is he ready to come back to Dancing With The Stars now? He said he might be (hmmm, not sure I’m liking this idea?). More at People or you can watch part of the interview below. More tomorrow on “Home And Family”.
I sure hope TPTB aren’t thinking if bringing Tony back. With Derek leaving, they need to find someone new, cute, and good at choreo.
Quite honestly, I have never been too impressed with Tony’s choreography. Maybe it’s because I have such high standards because of Mark and Derek, I don’t know. I would much rather see someone like Alan be a pro, or Mark come back, but that’s just me.
I love Tony, as a person and as a dancer. Traditional, passionate about teaching, and willing to teach anyone. Spending time with him on DWTS at Sea was incredible, learning from him ,dancing with him, his choreo for my jive. His sister is a dear as well, I’m so glad she is winning her fight. I would take minimum Tony over Gleb any day. I would love to see more of Artem and I would love to see Alan too. Actually, I think I would love a Kym/Tony All Access show
Have a feeling he’s the fan favorite pro (eyes rolling and rolling) possibly returning. Not surprised-my opinion he wants the $$$ for sure. I suppose it’s still a paying job for him lol.
Would love Tony back(he is a gentleman) and knows ballroom well not so much into contemporary all the time. Willing to give Alan a try instead of Val (if you watch his current dances,h isn’t doing any different choreography than he did with Zendaya in my opinion). I like Artem and Gleb as well.
I actually LIKE Tony. He’s not the best they have but he IS very patient with the older and more difficult celebrities. If we get another season like he had with Marla or Susan it would be worth it. The obvious problem would be if he takes another pros spot.Sasha and Gleb placed well enough that the only way I see them being out is by choice. Maks and Derek won’t be on this season meaning that Tony and Mark could be taking their spot in the lineup.
If so it would probably be Tony, Artem, Sasha, Mark, Gleb, and Val. I’d love to see Keo get another shot but if Tony comes back I don’t see that happening, unless they were to switch him for Artem.
He might not be the most choreo-savvy pro but I do like him and I would like to see him back. He is very patient with the “difficult”-type ladies. Most importantly – I’m happy that his sister is doing well 🙂
Even though tony can be a bit predictable and play it safe sometimes choreography wise, I’d rather see him back instead of someone with an ego like Maks.
Saying that, they should give Alan a competing pro spot. He deserves a shot to see if he is better as a competing pro.
Tony is a class act! Maybe not the most mind-blowing choreographer, but Tony has a genuine sweetness that the show needs in order to maintain relevancy.
Ugh, seriously? Terrible, terrible choreographer, plus a member of the odious C-Bro clique. He can stay well away.
Glad to hear that his sister is doing well. Family is always number one.
I’d take Tony over Artem any day of the week.
He’s well past his sell by date. Waste of a pro spot imo.
I like Tony as a person, but his choreography is not exciting at all. That said, I would rather he be with the older celebs than Artem. Tony is at least respectful of these women, whereas Artem? Not so much. The ONLY male pro that is currently worthy of my excitement is Mark (not counting Derek, of course – that ship has sailed). Sasha needs to seriously step it up or he’ll be in the category of Artem instead of Derek/Mark.
Really, our best hope for exciting choreography lies with the women.
Explain to me WHY Alan “deserves a shot” please. I don’t get it, I don’t see where he’s more desirable that any other male pro, including Tony and Val.
@princess Heidi: He has done a great job in the troupe and did a great job when he has to step in for Mark. Nothing against tony, who I like but he can play it safe a lot, and Val, a pro I don’t really want to go Into a rant about right now but to put it nicely I think he is a great dancer but I’m not a super fan of to be honest.
I agree with Heidi. The show definitely needs to bring in some new male pros. I had high hopes for Sasha, and would like to see him get another shot as pro, but he seems to play it safe a lot. I wonder if it’s possible that Derek might return at some point now that Rob Wade is leaving. It seems like the show would have lots of options for pro dancers – can’t they find pros who can teach and choreograph? They have two standouts currently in Lindsay and Mark. I also like Peta, but I assume she won’t be back this season.
That was one dance, Vin, and as I recall he was asked a question by Erin and completely fumbled it. He’s still too green in my book.
