Derek Hough’s New Show, “World of Dance” Set to Premiere May 8th

At 10 pm/9pm central – right after DWTS. 🙂 Very strategic placement, I would say.  Hope this show is as good as it looks and is more successful that SYTYCD. We’ll see. The difference being this show was all pre-taped and edited…should make it have less filler crap. Hopefully.

ETA: Also, note that the show will move to Tuesdays on May 30th according to Deadline.

Yahoo has an article and a couple photos about the show, including this poster:

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Witney Carson Talks On The DWTS Season 24 Premiere With Chris Kattan

ET talked with Dancing With The Stars Witney Carson today. She discussed how she and her partner, Chris Kattan, are preparing for the premiere. Here is more….

“I’m feeling really good! My choreography plan, and I’m going to be completely honest, is doing just completely outrageous things,” Witney dished. “Like, I’m just going to do it so that people remember that routine. There will be something in there, a moment, or a couple of moves — something that people will go, ‘You know what? That was really cool. I remember that over the other dances because it was completely different.'”

“That’s what I’m going to try and do,” she continued. “Just make Chris stand out as best as I can. I think that the choreography’s going to complement him and his personality, let him be the star.”

“I mean, I think that it’s pretty self-explanatory, it’s really iconic,” she teased, laughing. “You have to pay tribute to A Night at the Roxbury when doing a ‘What Is Love’ dance. There’s gotta be some moves in there. I don’t want to give anything away, but I think people will be super excited to see it. It will just be a really fun premiere.”

And although things seem to be going pretty smoothly in rehearsals for #TeamMangoTango, Witney told ET that being paired with a comedian sometimes makes it hard to focus.

“He is very different from any partner I’ve ever had, which is so great,” she gushed. “We’re both really excited to dance together for everybody. He is hilarious! He makes me laugh during rehearsals the whole time.”

“I mean, everything he does is funny,” she added. “He’s always making jokes and always just being completely himself.”

Chris is going to be a kick. More at ET.

DWTS Season 24, Week ONE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

It’s that time once again, folks…who got the easy dances and who got hosed…only hosed isn’t really hosed in week 1 if you’re a female celeb. Get the hard stuff out of the way early, eh?

You all probably saw Vogue’s post from a couple days ago with the press release about the songs and dances, but I do this post every week in hopes we’ll get the dance order too. Cross your fingers.

ETA: Claire (via DWTSGossip) has a screencap of what looks like the telepromptr which says Normani and Val are going first tonight. We’ll see, as these things can change during dress. But it makes sense since she’s a dancer and they like to open the show with a bang.

Erika Girardi Talks Of Why She Said “Yes” To Dancing With The Stars

Fox has a fun interview up with Erika Jayne. She was asked about Dancing With The Stars and why she decided to do the show. She was also asked about the competition and costuming.

Fox News: You’ve had cameras follow you all throughout ‘RHOBH.’ What made you say yes to having more eyes on you in a dance competition series?
Girardi: I think it’s a great opportunity and a lot of fun, quite honestly. ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is a great way to take Erika Jayne into more people’s homes so she can have a good time and show them what she’s all about. It’s also a great opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone to perform and learn something new every week.

Fox News: Why should the other competitors be worried about you?
Girardi: Honestly, I don’t know if anybody should be worried about anyone. We’re all there to do our best and whatever happens, happens. I do think I bring a certain amount of energy, fire and sex to the competition and you know, that’s what I’m known for.

Fox News: You also mentioned that when it comes to the costumes, you’re ready to push every limit ABC will allow. What have been some of your most outrageous or daring pieces that you’ve worn for a performance?
Girardi: My costumes and ballroom costumes are kind of close. My costumes are sheer, illusion catsuits with crystals over the important parts. They really let the feminine form show. When you look at ballroom costumes, they’re very sexy and very feminine. That’s up my alley.
