Dancing with the Stars Season 24, Week TWO – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

We know of one dance so far. Sharna and Bonner have a romantic dance for Week 2 and it’s the Viennese waltz. Stay tuned for more updates.

ETA: According to Peta’s Instagram, she and Nick have a Foxtrot.

ETA2: According to Chris’ instagram, he and Witney are doing Jive. Maks also implied on instagram that he and Heather are doing jive. Seems like a fair fight. :::rolls eyes:::

ETA3: According to Normani’s blog, she and Val have a Cha Cha. ~Vogue

ETA4: According to Lindsay’s blog, she and David have a Cha Cha. Perfect. Be sure to read her blog for more.~Vogue

ETA5: DWTSGossip and one of her followers think they heard Artem say they were dancing first. Also, Heather will be dancing with Alan…as DWTSGossip pointed out, first time in the history of DWTS that two SYTYCD competitors are dancing together, competing against everyone else. 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 24, WEEK ONE – LIVE BLOG (Spoilers)

Here we go again. Only this time subjected to new levels of BS I’m sure.  With contributions from Maks, who supposedly was all “what about Nicole and Derek!” in response to criticism about Heather. :::rolls eyes::: If he really said that, his stupid is showing. I can’t believe an actual dance pro would have to read Courtney’s article on Heather to GET IT, but clearly he does.

Anyway, I gotta go open the wine.

Of course the first three pros we see are Val, Gleb and Maks cuz the women don’t mean jack. Gee, Heather can really dance. What a shock. Not.

Already sick of seeing Val. He was all over that dance.

Normani seems sweet. What is on Val’s head? Read more..

Simone Biles Writes On Her First Dance On Dancing With The Stars

I just love Simone Biles. If you go to People, you can read her first blog for Dancing With The Stars. She’s a little nervous for tonight’s dance, but, she will be ok….especially with Sasha having her back.

Sasha has been an amazing teacher. He’s very patient and he knows when and how to push me. I’m getting the steps down that he’s teaching me, but there’s just so much more to dancing than I ever thought there would be.

The actual dance steps are becoming muscle memory but getting into the emotion of the dance has also been something I’ve had trouble with. For our first week, Sasha and I are dancing a tango. The tango is a passionate dance even for an experienced dancer, but this is really my first time even dancing with a boy!

I’m used to gymnastics where you’re either stone-faced or smiling from ear to ear the entire routine. Now, I’m having to tap into emotions that I really am not comfortable with. But we’ve been working on it.

As we head into tonight’s first live show I have a ton of nerves, but that’s just because it’s something new that I’ve never done before. I know when we get out there I’ll get into the same mindset that I have in gymnastics competitions: Ignore the noise and just go out there and do the routine you practiced. I’m super excited!

Peta Murgatroyd Writes Her First Blog For DWTS Season 24

Peta Murgatroyd has written her first blog for the new season of dancing With The Stars. She writes of how much her life has changed in a year. She also writes of what it’s like to compete against her fiancĂ© Maks. Below she gives us a hint on tonight’s dance with her partner Nick Vaill.

I really have been so surprised by Nick’s ability. He’s doing really well in rehearsals and I think he has the chance of going really far in the competition.

His work ethic is just incredible. He gets through our four-hour rehearsals without ever asking for a break and I never need to remind him to keep practicing and do his homework at home. He’s got a bit of a sporting background, so he’s quick on his feet and is always on beat. The only thing we have to work on is his posture and arm placement. He’s 6’2″, so he’s a big guy. That’s great for a Bachelor but it can make his frame a bit harder to manage and hold.

Tonight we’re dancing a cha cha, and it’s going to be fun and sexy — everything a cha cha should be. We’re in a good place. We’re able to perform it and have all the steps locked down. Now we just need to prove to people that he’s not just The Bachelor. Nick wants to show a different side of himself, so our goal is to bring that out. I really think he has what it takes to wow people.

DWTS Season 24 Heather Morris Writes Of What It Was Like To Meet Maks Chmerkovksiy And More

Heather Morris’ first blog at People, she writes of what it was like to first meet her Dancing With The Stars partner Maks Chmerkovksiy and the things they had in common. She also talks of their rehearsals and how she’s prepared her self mentally. Here is more….

A few days and a few rehearsals later, we were told we’d be given our music and style of dance. It turned out to be the Viennese waltz and I was relieved, to say the least. I didn’t wanna get something super challenging right off the bat and be both mentally and physically exhausted every single day when I got home to my family.

The waltz seemed like a nice, relaxing dance. How hard could it be? HARD.

I’m such a perfectionist (in some aspects of life, that is) and it’s very hard for me to just chill out, arch my back and correct my seemingly poor posture. I was trying my hardest to do just those few simple things, but my back WAS KILLING ME by the end of the week and I still had to find the energy to cook dinner, plan personal press wardrobe AND still do an entire bedtime routine with the kids at night.

I’m also really working on mentally preparing myself to keep my nerves under control because, as many times as I’ve performed live, nothing compares to having 40 million viewers watch me do a dance one time and then vote if they actually liked it or not. Yikes.

All in all, I’m just trying to let things be what they are and enjoy myself, cuz it’s only going to get more challenging from here. Even if I only have one more week left after I perform the waltz, I’d still say I made a few great friends and had an amazing ride! And also, I got to meet Chris Kattan, which for any fan of the Y2K SNL generation is a very big deal! (He’s hysterical, by the way.)
