Simone Biles And Sasha Farber Talk Of The Fun They Are Having On Dancing With The Stars And More
Access Hollywood finally released Simone Biles and Sasha Farber’s interview from Monday night. They talk on their dance, the lift….and all the fun they are having together. Bring it on for next week, Guys! You’ve got this!
ETA: And here they are on Entertainment Tonight with a rehearsal interview. You can see them dancing too. I have a feeling I will cry for sure. Beautiful and great interview. Thanks to Abby for the heads up.
Thanks for posting this, Vogue! Sasha completely nailed the diplomatic answer on that question about whether or not it was a lift.
I do not feel they should have penalized Simone for that so-call lift. Sasha coordinated the dance and Simone does what he says. So unfair
@justine1 I don’t agree that the fact that the pro (and not the celebrity) is responsible for the choreography is a good reason not to deduct for choreography issues. If they adopted that policy, there would pretty much be no rules for routine composition because the pros would know they could choreograph whatever they want and then just say: “Don’t penalize the celebrity. He/She didn’t choreograph it, so it’s not his/her fault.” This would allow pros to, for example, choreograph a cha cha when they were assigned a samba because they know that their partners are better at cha cha than samba. At the end of the day, the pro is just as much a part of the couple as the celebrity is, and it’s his job to choreograph a routine that won’t get any deductions because of composition. That being said, I have a big problem with the inconsistency in the way the “no lifts in styles that don’t allow them” rule is applied.
As far as that ET clip, Simone and Sasha are just so cute. You can tell that there is a genuine friendship and they both like and respect one another. It sounds like her dance and her story are going to be very touching. I can’t wait to see it!
The pro and celeb are a team and the pros are particularly aware of what the rules are. So, yes, they do penalize the celeb for choreography – it’s a couple, a TEAM dancing, not just one person. And that’s why the celebs have to clue their partner in on the possibilities.
That whole lift rule has always bugged the hell out of me! Yes the pro choreographs the dances but the celeb is not just a puppy dog expected to follow at command all the time-the human body doesn’t work that way in partner dancing. Sometimes your foot lifts up when it’s not supposed to and that’s not the leading partners fault-it’s the following partners fault. In which case, I agree with Heidi-they are a team-if one gets penalized, they both get penalized by the judges.
What bugs me THE MOST is that damned CAI took it upon herself seasons ago to become “the lift police” as she’s so well known for. Len doesn’t even go as crazy as she does over them. And the favoritism she shows over certain couples, with this stupid rule, is Sooo blatant that they really need to throw this rule out the window!
Or better yet Anon, lets throw CAI out the window.
I have NO PROBLEM with that!! #PJ#1
#6 @pj it would be about fame time.
