DWTS Season 25, Week 2 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?
How much would I kill to see Derek’s choreography to “Look What You Made Me Do”?? So, so much. :::sigh:::
Anyway, everyone does a dance on Monday night (first song and dance listed for each couple). Those who survive the Monday night elimination do the second dance to the second songs listed below. Latin on Monday Night, Ballroom on Tuesday?? Or do I have them backwards? Sorry, Vogue is in charge of the press release. Vogue? Eh, doesn’t matter at this moment – All first dances listed are on one night, all second dances listed are on the other night. Good enough for now.
Winners: Vanessa, for sure. Really?? Foxtrot and Salsa?? Lindsay isn’t faring too badly with Salsa and Quickstep, although the quickstep is going to be harder than the foxtrot – but Mark is a better choreographer, so there you go.
Losers: Everyone who got Samba – widely recognized as the hardest dance to do. Rumba is also going to be tough. I think Debbie may be especially hosed with Quickstep and AT – harsh.
Opportunity: Sasha, Jordan and Nikki, in particular, have a real opportunity to show two very different sides to themselves and show a lot of range.
Other thoughts?
ETA: Instastory order from DWTS Instastory from camera blocking on Saturday – except Drew, he wasn’t included so I stuck him at the end. He could go anywhere in this lineup. And the lineup was only partially right last week.
ETA2: Yeah, so far the instastory thing is only partially right this week too. 🙂 Per George Pennachio. After killing it last week they move Lindsey to 3rd?? That bites. Well, as long as no one stays at the end of the night…But it seems Nick and Vanessa get the top of the hour again. Are Jordan and Victoria the only two who didn’t move from the second hour to the first hour??
EPA3: Updating with Tuesday Night’s Dance order. Vanessa once again gets a great spot late in the show. At least Jordan and Lindsey does too. I would like to see Vanessa go first before too many more weeks go by.

Yep! Another #DWTS couple popped into the hallway for a little extra rehearsal! It's @LindseyStirling & @MarkBallas pic.twitter.com/QSBNbIfj5h

I knew that look what you made me do was going to be used by someone this season for a tango and I was seriously hoping it would be Mark and Lindsey that got it because I could imagine some amazing choreography coming from him but alas not.. sigh..
Outside of that I’m pretty impressed with song selection.. but whose idea was it to do hot in here to a samba? At least it’s Cheryl choreographing that maybe she might be able to salvage something.
It’s really interesting that we get 4 Samba’s on Latin night alone when we only got 3 Samba’s total last season and all of them were pretty early on too. I feel like Jordan and Nikki will handle it really well, Sasha possibly.. TO not so much. And it’s interesting only one Paso for Latin night, would have thought at least two of them..
Debbie definitely got hosed the most having two pretty intricate as well as difficult dances. Hopefully she can power through and come out on the other side looking great and doing really well Mon/Tues.
Wow! Surprised there are still no jives! Also slightly disappointed that mark and Lindsey didn’t get a more current/flashier song, but I’m sure they will still kill their dances!! Probably better to get quickstep out of the way now.
Vanessa being propped up with easy dances to try and keep her scores high and keep her around. In other news, water is wet.
I don’t think Debbie got hosed at all. I’m glad to see it.
She has to know. This is (and I can say with good confidence because I’ve seen it back in the day) a woman who will fire back when her back is against the wall. She has broken her body in half to get the job done in the past, much to her detriment (she’s revealed about this in recent years — over and above the Lyme Disease).
She needs to know if she can hang (no flame to her either — I assume this is something she’s tackling hard!). She needs to know if she can. Especially with what this season represents to her, the training wheels need to come off (unlike a previous reality-show experience, at least from this viewer’s perspective) and Debbie, for her own, needs to know.
Hence, I don’t think she got hosed one material bit. My opinion. Consider: She does well, she shoots up the rankings. She doesn’t? She bows gracefully.
Vanessa is clearly being pimped. Why? I thought it was actually going to be Nick to prop them both up. Sounds like that’s the other way around.
Crap, one thing I forgot.
I think they DID get it backwards, unless they’re flipping the order now and doing Latin Monday night.
I think they did say Ballroom Monday and Latin Tuesday.
I can’t stand Venessa! She just doesn’t seem like the same person. Looks and sounds like she is putting on an “act”! I’m sure she and Maks are getting pimped to get Maks his second win. Peta and Val both have two wins each. I really wish the producers would just let this show entertain their audience instead of playing these stupid games.
Love all the song choices (especially despacito….that song is my jam) but I really was surprised to see the Taylor swift one so soon.
Interesting both Emma and Artem are dancing to songs choreographed on recent DWTS tour although Louie Prima rendition of “Sing Sing Sing” is horrible very difficult to dance to (unfair). They will get through and Drew will improve dramatically. Artem and Nikki have great songs and dances and Artem is so happy this season, sleeper couple to watch. Nikki has huge fan base.
Not a fan of Mark, since Lindsey is a pal both of his and Derek, could he only have come back if given a ringer? Not sure Mark would be pro if Barbara was his partner. Lindsey has dance experience, is young, talented and very good. She will be in finals. Lindsey would have been better partner with Alan. Mark has no chemistry with his partners whatsoever.
Sasha and Gleb have great songs and sexy Gleb will sizzle their choreography this week.
Debbie and Alan have the most difficult dances for Debbie’s illness and stamina limitations but Alan will surprise everyone this week with his choreography. Tango is his favorite dance and they have great sexy chemistry. Quickstep will be very difficult for Debbie with her pain limitations and Alan needs to prove himself with choreography to supplement her disadvantage. Rooting for them. Deb Heads need to help her!
Already tired of the two married couples thing. Vanessa and Maks were given songs and dances to keep them moving forward and they will.
Peta (love her) looks rail thin to me and unhealthy. Nick will do better this week.
Lindsay and Jordan will blow people away; love their song and dance choices. Jordan, like Stirling, has dance experience and such a magnetic personality. Love love love this couple. This is Lindsay’s year hopefully. I’m rooting for this young, fun, energetic, connected pair.
Keo and Barbara one positive song/dance and one awful song/dance (unfair). Producers, give this man a chance. Love Barbara’s personality and they are adorable together but unfortunately they may go home this week.
Val and Victoria, I can not get into this pairing although I admire Victoria so much and Val,is anfavorite of mine. Song choices and dances are great to utilize her disadvantages, slow pace which is what she needs and Val being the ultimate choreographer he will showcase what she can do.
Frankie and Whitney have Head whipping songs, Whitney’s specially so choreography will be same old but terrific. Not sure about the songs paired with dances but that’s the show. They move up.
I see Cheryl /TO, Sharna/Derek or Keo/Barbara going home on Monday and Tuesday.
I was expecting Look what you made me do on Halloween, it would´ve fit so great. I am so excited for Jordan´s samba, with that song they can give a showstopper. Not liking Havana as AT, for me it does not fit well.
Really worried about TO and Cheryl after seeing their song choices/dances. Are TPTB really trying to get them eliminated in order to make sure all the focus is on their winners for this season aka Sharna and Derek??
Plus, does anyone know if doing press early on is a good or bad sign? Cheryl usually waits mid season to do interviews on The Real and Access Hollywood…I hope it’s not a bad sign. I mean did TPTB change anything for TO and Cheryl after realizing Bobby Brown was out? Or just replace TO in his spot without catering to songs? Maybe the Zayn Malik song is the new add to cater to TO, but I’m worried. Just absolutely shocked that Cheryl is known for her Latin dances and love for AT, and they gave her the most CRAPTASTIC song. I don’t wanna see TO get his shirt ripped off. So sick of that song .
I’m glad they are using”Havanna” by Canilla Cabellonfor an AT! Ever since I heard that song Ive been choreographing an AT in my head to it.
Wow, I also forgot to mention in my comment that this will basically be 2 full weeks of DWTS jam packed into two nights. Wonder why TPTB did this?
Sounds like overkill and a hot mess. That’s 26 dances to get through. Yikes.
Thank you, for posting week 2’s couples/dances (both) and songs (both). If this is Latin night, it’s awfully early. And, I too am wondering “no Jive” yet?
Yes, I agree that it looks like Debbie got hosed, but she just may surprise us! I sure hope after doing both dances, she isn’t sent home. She has a great Pro partner helping her, and I think her battling Lyme’s disease is commendable and her impressive determination.
I also agree that Venessa has it easy, of course. Strange for Nikki to have less energy dances. I’m sure the Samba will be “sultry” and their Waltz beautiful. I’m sure Artem has drilled her on looking down at the floor.
I’ll have to listen to some of the songs as I don’t recognize some of them to determine if they suit the dance styles.
EmnEm: 25. Yeah, still. Monday is 2 hours, though.
KreativeKat: I don’t think she got hosed.
Someone help me, who knows far more of the process than I do: Who chooses the dance styles each week, within the boundary? Is it the pros, is it a collaborative decision between the pairs, or is the producers?
But I seriously do not think she got hosed (barring either a Monday elimination or that it’s clear she can’t go that fast — at the latter point, she probably should bow out gracefully) for two reasons: One, she’s got to know if she can hang, and this is going to be a top-level test for her at the speed and complexity of both of these efforts.
And, second, she’s finally going to get to turn up the heat. Trust me, people — she can.
It is WAY TOO EARLY to be doing both Samba and Argentine Tango, as well as two straight nights of dancing AND double eliminations-I’m getting a headache just thinking about the pressure these couples could already be under and it’s only week 2! That boggles my mind-clearly TPTB have an agenda in mind this season to already weed out two couples this early and throw such challenging dances at them this early as well. What the producers motivation is? I have no idea-are they trying to make a big impact starting out in season 25? Trying to drum up ratings with a WOW factor this early on or something? I don’t know but I don’t know if I’m a big fan of this kind of strategy lol
I would need the MODS help cause my memory fails me big time-ladies were there any other seasons where by week 2, the couples were already dancing two dances and there was a double elimination? Maybe in later seasons but I truly can’t remember-You guys keep awesome archives-I can do some digging when I get a chance:)
Anon: If that’s the case, and this is a theory that this website has forwarded, it appears Gibson is a target for early elimination.
That said, that puzzles me. Not only has Gibson worked with ABC before (judge on “Sing Your Face Off”), she spent about eight months as Belle in Disney’s (ABC’s parent company) “Beauty and the Beast” on Broadway.
Given all of that, it would appear to me that, if anything (and if physically possible), she’d get some boost or something, especially if this a journey of self-discovery and finding out what she has in the tank.
It’s one of the reasons I disagree with the standing theory that she’s being screwed with, and, hence, screwed. I take the opinion that Gibson is going to find out what she has in the tank and this week is far more important to her than just DWTS.
(And, frankly, after seeing a perfect-score Argentine Tango from a previous season on YouTube — if she can pull that off with her look, they’ll have to pull the fire alarm and reset the floor. She’ll burn the damn thing up, if she can.)
Anon: As for two eliminations in a second week, Season 21, according to Wikipedia.
@ Anonymous – in Season 21 they had 2 dances for hometown glory week in week 2, with an elimination each night.
@Kikki-thanks for the tip about season 21-I figured there had to be another precedence for the producers warped sense of humor in putting the couples through this stress this early on lol-appreciate it!
@Michael ok I think we all see you are a BIG Debbie Gibson fan and that’s ok but maybe try to chill just a little with the assumptions being made against her and for how she will do come this week? Nobody’s talking bad about her on this site and nobody can, possibly, predict how she will do come Monday night. I hope she does great! I’ve always been a fan of hers. This website is not ‘forwarding any theory’ about her at all. The mods do a great job with their posts. I think you should be careful how you comment on this website-your comments are coming off quite arrogant if you don’t mind me saying. Again I know you’re a big Debbie fan but just relax buddy….
I think I’m the only one who is excited for two dances this week. With so much talent and potential this season, I think having 2 dances in only week 2 will separate the couples from great and not so good. This in my opinion, will make it distinct on who has what it takes to go all the way in the competition. This is also a chance to see which couples are capable of any style dance that will be thrown their way this season, since they have to do a ballroom & Latin dance. Those couples that score pretty decent in both dances will be the couples to watch. Little worried about Debbie and Victoria this week since I know it might take a toll on their bodies, but this is also a challenge for them to see if their bodies are capable of taking on any challenge the season curves their way. I’m excited and I hope everyone does well 🙂
This coming week is Premier week for a lot of new and returning shows. ABC would want a big splash and they are looking for dwts to provide part of it. Years ago I saw Debbie Gibson do Belle on Broadway and she did a great job. Doubt that they would want her on dwts and then try to remove her early. The double elimination week seems to come in the first few weeks when there is 13 couples and not 12. Its maybe more often week 3 or 4. Love this week’s song choices looking forward to the shows.
They did this a few season ago except it was hometowns or something Monday night they did the celebs ‘hometown’ and then the pros hometown. (whatever season that Sharna danced with Nick Carter).
I’m interested to see Sharna and Derek’s foxtrot… That song was used many moons ago with Kym and Warren and they did a Jive. I don’t hear foxtrot in that song… but I’ve missed nuances before.
Otherwise – I think I’ll just get some popcorn and watch. Not sure how Tuesday night will fare against the season premier of This Is Us on NBC. (if they run in the same slot).
BC Of course I meant best dancing couple! xxoo
@Michelle Crap! Tuesday is the season premiere of This is Us isn’t it? Not sure if both shows will be at the same time but I hate to say this-for me-if it’s a choice between DWTS and This is Us on Tuesday night, I’m choosing the latter! ????
I wondered when they’d use Despacito. Looks like we didn’t have to wait long.
DWTS vs Shark Tank is also the Celebrity Family Feud episode on Tuesday. Hopefully DWTS doesn’t get crushed as poorly as last time. LOL.
This is Us will comfortably win the night in the key demo. Not sure whether it will get more overall viewers than DWTS though. DWTS has the advantage of starting at 8pm so people would have to switch over to watch This is Us is people are fans of both shows. More likely loads will DVR This is Us.
@M8 nah for me, I’m one of those who will happily switch over to watch This is Us and if anything, catch up with the DWTS results show on cable demand or even YouTube LOL I CANNOT miss the season 2 premiere of This is Us-no go for me:)
@ R2M #2: I was thinking the same thing about Lindsey and Mark’s songs – they are dancing to some weird old tunes. But they are also somewhat underrated EDM classics, like Jurassic 5’s “Swing Set,” like the kind of tracks we might hear on SYTYCD but not DWTS.
Makes me wonder how much sway the dubstep violinist has in requesting what “out of the box” music plays during her dances? Will EDM or hip hop artists that we don’t usually hear on DWTS give Lindsey special rights to use their tracks because they’re fans of hers?
Like how Prince allowed DWTS to use “Kiss” but only one time and only for Nicole and Derek.
Just glad that we can have a Latin night for once without Mr Worldwide mugging on it. Nothing against Pitbull but there’s just so much more to Latin dance culture than his kind of music.
I get the feeling DWTS stealthily distanced themselves from Pitbull after he practically hit on Jana Kramer after her tango. LOL.
Some of my thoughts on this week:
This seems pretty intense for week 2 with a still every couple still in the competition. Let alone having 2 dances but some of these dances assigned this week are the tougher dances that are usually not done until the latter half of the season. Samba, Argentine Tango, Quickstep, and Rumba are probably the most difficult dances on DWTS. Sometimes the Quickstep will appear earlier in the season, but the other 3 we usually don’t see until like week 5 or so, especially the argentine tango. Seems a little harsh especially for the couples not up to par with everyone else. Also, usually 2 dances aren’t done till way later in the season when there are 5 couples or so less to help fill the time. Maybe they are just trying to switch things up. It is a nice opportunity for the celebs that may not be strong in latin or ballroom so that they have at least one stronger dance. It gives them some opportunity to show themselves more before being eliminated rather quickly. Surprised to see no jives as those can be done earlier in the competition and only one paso. I think Lindsey will do well. Jordan will do well also. I think Frankie will also be fine with the two styles he got. Vanessa got lucky. A little worried for Debbie and Drew as both of their styles are rather difficult.
@Michael When all of us say that Debbie got hosed we aren’t doubting her abilities. I think all of us want her to succeed and do well because we know her story. It’s just that producers made it harder for her to do that by handing her two of the hardest dance styles week 2 of the competition when there has been no build up to doing two dances in one week let alone just one harder dance style by itself. Am I making sense?
As someone who has a mother who suffers from another autoimmune disease fibromyalgia I know first hand what kind of issues one can have just doing normal day to day things like cooking or doing laundry. Much less doing extensive training for two incredibly hard dance styles. I think Debbie has the will power to want to succeed the question is will her body let her. I want her to go out there and slay both nights because I think she has the capability to be able to if her body lets her.
As for her being a possibility of early elimination I’m in the minority that thinks she’s safe for a few more weeks. I think the scores being relatively close for week one paired with her having a pretty crud running order to where a lot of people aren’t remembering her as well is why a lot of people think this. Over the last few days I myself have grown to feel pretty confident in thinking Barbara and TO will be our first outs, which one being on which night I don’t know. Hoping TO is out first that way we don’t have to see his Samba.. because I have a feeling it’ll be pretty bad. I think if Debbie gets a decent running order position, she does well and gets good scores, combined with her nostalgia element and her story with Lyme Disease I think she might be able to out last some people and make it midway. Seems like Vanessa has been the hit from the Lachey’s so I won’t be surprised if Nick is out before Debbie.
I am excited to see two full nights of dancing next week! I think all the couples will be fine…it seems like they were told about Week 2 at least prior to the GMA cast reveal (Mark mentions it in his Vlog #3 when he and Lindsey are backstage at GMA), so I bet everyone has been preparing their Week 1 and 2 dances this whole time.
As far as the dance styles:
-Quickstep isn’t so bad since the earlier seasons used to start out with cha cha/quickstep combo (or foxtrot/jive).
-I think having Argentine Tango is better than having ballroom tango since it is freer and you can use the performance aspect more…it also tends to be a higher-scoring style.
-Rumba (esp. for the male celebs) and samba are challenging probably no matter which point of the season
-Jive might be the second-hardest dance since it demands a lot of energy and sharp, quick technique, so at least no one got that.
Anon: I’ll stop harping on the speculation when that speculation stops making so much sense. 🙂
To that end, and since Brittany did such a good job explaining her position:
Brittany: I think it’s adequately clear that no one I’ve read here WANTS Debbie to go now. But to read a lot of what I’ve read here (and one of the reasons I finally spoke up was that I’ve read a lot here since Monday on that subject), you guys have done a fine job in saying my enjoyment of her on this show will probably be markedly brief. I’ve gone from “not surprised if” to about 70-30 we don’t see that Argentine Tango due to a lot of what I’ve read here in multiple posts and comments. (Again, see above caveat.)
I did ask a question somewhere which I will reiterate: Several of the comments are implying the styles are actually chosen by the producers of the show. Who actually chooses: The pro dancer? The couple? TPTB?
You’re making sense, Brittany, because a discussion of her getting hosed (generally) has made far too much sense for about 25 years now, to be blunt — and I’m getting sick of it. But that’s just me.
You want to slag on somebody? Slag on me. And if I told you why, especially endemic to this discussion, it’d derail this comment section for weeks.
The thing is, though: I like this draw because I think she needs to know for something even far larger than Dancing With The Stars. She needs to know she has all this in the tank. I hope she succeeds, for numerous reasons.
(And, yeah, I’ll admit after pulling up a YouTube of “Havana”: I want see her ooze fire on that stage for that Argentine Tango.)
At the end of the day, you are most correct: The spirit, with her, is so willing. Is the flesh too weak?
Another thing you are correct on: The scores are so close. What I fear for a Monday elimination is that a bunch of 21st century ignorami (and this is my general view of America, how they would vote to take Debbie out of DWTS is just one manifestation!) will see more value in Barbara doing whatever that was than what Debbie is trying to accomplish, as one example.
As for TO: He’s just limited. It’s clear the attempt is there, and Cheryl is working around what she’s got to work with.
I’ve just seen 25 years of various manifestations of TPTB screw Debbie and her hard work beyond all semblance of recognition — music career, theatre career, and a plethora of LOL’s from a nation that has gone “somewhere else”. I’m just sick and tired and seeing that woman break herself in half and get so little for it on the outside. (I have no doubt that, within at least performing circles, she gets quite a bit.)
So I thank Anon for chain-yank a little bit. I need that on occasion.
As someone who has watched the show for years it’s pretty typical for a nostalgia favorite like Debbie to last several weeks. Example from last fall being Maureen Mccormick. The main demo that does the majority of the voting is between 45-65, so a lot of people that either grew up watching Debbie at the start of her music career or were in their 20’s when she was up and coming. Young people that watch the show are not in as great of numbers as that main demo, we are here but not as big as that part of the audience. I’m 23 and I can honestly say that while I like Barbara’s humor in terms of dance ability Debbie has her beat in spades. And I saw those who were in the demo displeased with Barbara as well as the ones of us that are younger. So I don’t think that votes were delegated to Barbara over Debbie. And since I personally enjoyed Debbie I tossed a few votes her way even though I am a diehard Lindsey/Mark fan. I saw several people tossing her votes because of being scared that she would be a first out where she did get a little lost in the shuffle last week.
I personally have enjoyed Debbie so far between the show Monday as well as watching videos of her and Alan together on instagram. I think she makes it out of this week without getting eliminated. That’s just personal opinion. Also today they are doing camera blocking for Monday’s show, normally its done Sunday but since two shows this week Latin night camera blocking will happen tomorrow; and last week camera blocking was pretty close to the actual running order and based on that looks like Debbie could be first. Which can be a good thing they usually open/close the show with dances they feel will drawl the most excitement. If Debbie can make her Quickstep something that leaves an impression it will help her the following week.
The way I understand it in terms of choosing dance styles (I may be wrong) the pros and stars give a list of songs they would like to dance to to producers. They see what they can get cleared for copyright then styles that fit the cleared songs are determined. I would assume that the producers chose who dances the styles each week depending on theme and such. But like I said may totally be wrong. I would say its safe to assume producers definitely do choose styles for sure because certain celebs do get handed easier dances to stay around longer or boost scores to make sure that they are at or close to the top at the end of the night. Example Vanessa getting Foxtrot and Salsa this week. Foxtrot is one of the easier ballroom dances, and Salsa is a lot of tricks and pretty easy in the grand scheme of latin dances (especially compared to AT, Rumba, Samba, etc.) There is examples of this from last season too like Normani getting Contemporary and Jazz back to back weeks towards the end of the competition and are dances that have basically bare minimum when it comes to rules and the judges hardly ever score low on them.
Where this competition can be so stressful on certain celebs that’s why I originally was fearful for Debbie and for Victoria. Autoimmune diseases are no joke. Either of them could have a major flare that could ruin progress made towards recovery. I’m glad they are both doing it and bringing more awareness to these invisible diseases, but I hope it doesn’t come at the cost of them having issues after the show. I feel like Debbie definitely is in a better place with her disease just in watching BTS videos of her and seeing her dance Monday. I guess we’ll have to wait til Monday to see what happens but I feel like Debbie will survive and get to dance her AT.
@Michael you’re thanking me for my ‘chain-yanking’ comments-WOW I’m not quite sure if I’m supposed to take that as a compliment or not….????
But after reading your comments again, clearly you are more than just a fan of Ms. Debbie Gibson-you sound rather delusional with the way you speak of her-Your general view of America as ‘a bunch of 21st century ignorami’ is DISTURBING-this is just my opinion of course
All right, the chain is getting yanked rather HARDER. There’s a reason I’m thanking you for those comments, Anon. That you’ve felt the need to yank harder should give you an idea of why.
As for the second half of your comment, and completely removing Debbie from this part of the discussion: I stand by my characterization of many 21st-century Americans.
From Twitch trolls to “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” viewers to people who put football ahead of all life, up to and including “YOU MUST RESPECT THE FLAG OR ELSE!!!”, (to *cough* Trump voters) I stand by that characterization.
I see, in Americans, more belief in value of something like Barbara’s ridiculousness than a number of other things which might’ve gone on Monday night. As creepy and wrong and the like as the presentation was, I think people WANT to see more of that.
That (far beyond DWTS) was where I was going. The concept of “so bad, it’s good” is far too prevalent in where we are now, at least in my opinion.
You’re entitled to your opinion re. the state of America and Americans if that’s how you feel; however, and this is just my opinion, and other people can disagree with me, but I don’t believe the purpose of this website is for political commentary or discourse of that which you keep referring to. You want to talk DWTS-by all means, go right ahead-that’s what everybody here discusses but when you start mixing in the lapse of the values and morals in this country with DWTS talk, you’re taking things WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. And guess what? It’s not that serious buddy! Lighten up! People want to come to this site to discuss the dances, the songs, the couples, the posts the mods put up-not the negative view the world has against Debbie Gibson for, according to you, 25 yrs! ????????????????????????
@Michael DWTS is a guilty pleasure that you are seriously taking all the fun out of with your attitude and your high horse speech-chill out….
Michael, you’re sounding like a pretentious ass and I would ask you to please take your sanctimony and your projection of 25 years of being a Debbie fan elsewhere. This is a blog about DWTS and none of the rest of that counts for shit. DO NOT talk about other people’s opinions. I would say the same to Anonymous if not for the fact that she was reading my mind and posting my thoughts on the matter. I would have shut this down a few days ago if not for traveling.
Why is it that fangirls and fanboys never understand the fact that they have a responsibility in the longevity (or lack thereof) of their favorite celeb. Do you realize that you can turn people OFF from voting for Debbie? If not, you should.
One final note – people don’t get “voted off” of Dancing with the Stars. They get voted to stay. If you don’t understand that distinction, I suggest you sit and think about it for a bit. There is no cabal out there voting against Debbie. They are voting for their favorites to STAY.
The pros and celebs have NO SAY in what dance style they get handed in any given week. They USED TO be able to give a list of songs they would like to dance to before the season started and the producers would try to clear those songs. But there is no guarantee. There are certain weeks where the pro and celeb have no say in either the song or the dance style they are handed. I would guess that nowadays that is most weeks. I know there have been instances recently of a pro requesting a particular song and it gets handed to a different pro.
At the end of the day, it’s a matter of talent that a pro can choreograph to whatever he/she is handed. Some have that skill and some don’t.
Michael, I’m as liberal as they come and you are doing liberals NO FAVORS with your comments. You are, in fact, doing more harm than good. Your talk about Barbara reveals you to be DINO, IMO. You and your judgement are part of the problem.
@Princess Heidi I really did try to stay as neutral as possible but it’s kinda hard with somebody pushing your buttons lol
Glad you are back PHeidi. Hope you had a great time. I had a feeling you weren’t around.
If the IG stories at camera blocking is any indication of order for Monday night (I think it was spot on or very close last week) Debbie is opening (also confirmed on dwts Snapchat) then Nikki, Victoria, Barbara, Nick, Vanessa, Frankie, Terrell, Sasha, Lindsey, Derek and Jordan. Just Drew is missing.
Kikki, Since Drew & Emma are on location in Canada, it would make sense that he may be doing camera blocking for both days on Sunday.
I’m not too worried about Debbie (or Frankie, for that matter) as I believe fans will vote to keep both on for a while longer. TO may be a goner and am doubting Barbara’s or Sasha’s ability to hold on much longer. I like Barbara on Shark Tank but not here. And I could dance better than Sasha did (boring), so what’s up with her?
I have voted in the past to keep someone on for weight loss/fitness/wedding reasons but I’m not feeling “genuine” from her. Her package had a lot of cardio/fitness but she didn’t feel present during her dance. meh.
Nick will be out before the halfway point. He’s just not into it. Am looking forward to Vanessa doing well, but probably not the MBT.
Sharna & Derek and Artem & Nikki are my wild cards. Would love for them to show us something great.
I’m currently voting for Lindsey & Mark for the win. Hope they make it!
And this Monday/Tuesday are jammed with conflicts for ratings.
We have guests this week and the men want to watch the Vietnam series on PBS. ( I will be watching DWTS at a friends house)
SYTYCD will have their finale this Monday and This is Us will premiere on Tuesday during the second hour of DWTS. I will see TIU on demand later & watch Dancing live, but understand the pull to go the other way. (*spoiler* They will not get straight into how Jack died, but will give a clue in the 1st 5 min, if that helps)
Actually, Carol, DWTS starts at 9 on Tuesday. Celebrity Family Feud is at 8, so it will be the first hour vs This Is Us.
Well, Anonymous, it’s hard to not respond when a dick comes into your house and starts spouting off – we get that, and people with history at this website tend to get more slack than the newbies.
It was very close last week Kikki – not exact, but close. I appreciate you making note of that order so I didn’t have to do it. 🙂
DWTS always has very solid competition in the fall season – Monday night football has always been a presence. I don’t consider SYTYCD to be a factor, but This Is Us certainly will be. But last year it was Big Bang Theory – this year as well, as I recall. And it still does well enough, considering that it’s on Season 25.
@Princess Heidi appreciate you so much! ????
@Kikki..Thank you for helping out with the running order. I wonder if it will stay the same for Tuesday night.
I didn’t know DWTS started at 9 Tuesday. If that’s the case then whoever is in the first hour of the running order is at a severe disadvantage. The viewership will spike at 10 when This is Us ends.
No worries Princess Heidi and KreativeKat ???? And thanks Carol, yes that does make sense.
Not sure how close that is to the final running order though, because for Tues Latin night blocking, they’ve shown Nikki, Victoria and Barbara in the same order, then Derek.
@M8 – As an aside about This is Us – there’s several million of us who have our cable service with AT&T/DirectTV who actually don’t have NBC right now due to an ongoing dispute over redistribution fees – so unless we go dig out an antenna, we can’t tune in. We could actually see DWTS benefit from the fact that a considerable chunk of the country actually can’t watch NBC right now…
Sasha’s weight issues come from a hormone in balance and she’s very self conscious about it. Has had a lot of online bullying about it. So I don’t think weight loss is her prime reason for being on the show. I would guess more likely putting herself out there and doing something fun and also they mentioned her parents were ballroom dancers. That being said she’s not my favorite and can’t say I see her sticking around a long time. But we should all be respectful of her weight being a touchy subject for her. I don’t know if you meant any disrespect by it but just wanted to let you know in case you didn’t. As for why she’s boring I think it’s gleb his choreography since he’s been back hasn’t been anything to write home about.
Whoever said lwymmd would be a good song for Halloween show I agree. I’m a huge taylor fan so I’m excited they are doing the song.
I love the song choices for Debbie. Her quickstep song sounds perfect for a quickstep. Love both of Frankie’s songs too. Vanessa’s salsa song is great as well.
Surprised they threw Emma and drew a rumba week two. That’s a hard dance in the early weeks because the connection isn’t always 100% there yet.
Well looking forward to this week. Mostly Frankie and Witney / lindsay and Jordan. They really stood out to me as my favorites. Nikki I’m not sold on yet but she might grow on me.
First off, Taryn, I doubt very much that Sasha reads this blog and if she does, she should stop.
Second – I don’t think anything negative has been said about her weight by Carol or anyone else. She said her dance was boring. And that she didn’t seem genuine. And, since I can’t remember a single bit of it, odds are she was indeed boring.
Saw on Instagram that Frankie and Witney will be going 8th. Also, DWTS Instagram posted a video of Drew getting injured, so that might be a spot of drama this week. It looks like he can’t bend his leg or put weight on it.
I can’t believe Lindsey & Mark are third… Most of the couples I want to see are either at the beginning or very end of the show. Guess I’ll be checking out the Voice!!????
Ok, I’m going to put something out there that may well leave you wondering about me. LOL
First, the subject of which network shows are going to go up against DWTS, and what to watch. Now I must say I did not know about the NBC problem where part of the country is not getting NBC. But even if I could watch DWTS live, I wouldn’t. I tape everything, and will not start watching it until about 30-45 minutes into the show. That way I can FF through those dreaded commercials. To put it simply, I don’t do commercials.
Secondly, I guess I do not understand what the problem is about what to watch. Watch one, tape everything else you want to see. Am I alone on this?
And thirdly, I must admit, I read your live blog as it happens so I can be prepared if one of my favorites doesn’t do well or gets the boot. I have plenty of time (and Xanax LOL) to calm myself by the time it comes on here. However, this time last year, when James was Sharna’s partner I cared about NOTHING ELSE except James nailing his dances. Even though I am a Val and Max fan, Val got no votes from me last year, and I wanted to ring his neck!!!!! To this day, I have never seen Tom read, And the winner is….., nor did I watch one second of that entire episode. I can’t remember the last time I was ever so ticked off about. When Helio was on and won it, I was the same way back then. But you put one of my Indycar boys on that show and nothing comes between me and them.
So, I’m really not a lunatic. Just a very devoted fan. LOLOLOLOL. But I would still like to know about the taping situation, and why it makes it difficult not knowing which to watch.
Thanks for your time and happy dancing!!!!!!!!!!
Gee, if some of you think they’re screwing Lindsey, Tuesday’s order is not going to help matters!
And anyone who thinks Sasha’s fat can go eat a dick.
Who in the hell said Sasha is fat? Michael, don’t be bringing other shit in here.
And unless I missed something, Lindsey is dancing in the last three – that is GOOD.
Seconding Heidi – I have literally only seen body-positive things said about Sasha here at Pure. I’m sure there are douchecanoes out there that are making comments like that (there always are)…but they ain’t here, so maybe don’t take out your aggression here, Michael.
Heidi: Please don’t confuse. I didn’t say anyone had said it here.
But there has been at least implication it’s getting said on the outside, and it’s been discussed here.
The cause of it was discussed in #58 and all too.
My POINT, which may have sailed over some people’s heads, is that anyone who thinks she’s not hot can go eat a dick. 🙂 I’ve heard far too much about making women as thin as possible, and I will dare say you may see at least one example of what happens as a result in this competition.
Sorry, Heidi. Any even flare of fat-shaming is going to make me (admittedly fat) rather irked.
You miss the point Michael. WE DON’T CARE what is being said elsewhere. Unless it is being said here, shut the fuck up about it. When you complain about it here, the implication is that it’s being said here. You want to whine about it, whine about it elsewhere. And the only one discussing it here is YOU.
You point is simplistic – it’s sailing over no one’s head, we just think it’s dumb. Now MOVE ON.
