PureDWTS 19 Semi-Finals Numerology Predictions: “It’s This Tight”

Hi All! DonaMadrina is back with her seasonal Numerology Predictions and Analysis and she outdid herself. Read on to see what I mean. This is fascinating….and talk about a tight call this time. Be sure to let us know what you think in comments.

“It’s This Tight”
by Donamadrina
If you’ve been reading PureDWTS for a while now, you know that it’s a tradition for Vogue and I to take a look at which couples have the best chance of winning Dancing With the Stars based on astrology and numerology – and, hey, we’ve got a good record too – so far. 🙂 I’m going to start the thrust this week with a look at the numerology of the final five couples, and then both Vogue and I will look at the final four next week.

Each season seems to get tougher to predict. (Gosh, why is that?) However, even the professionals who do this all the time seem to be having a problem. If you take a look at the Las Vegas odds throughout the season, you will notice that the odds for the final 3-4 have fluctuated tremendously. Most of the odds makers have Alfonso winning, but will he? BING, the search engine, has projected Sadie and Mark as the winners based on video views and searches. Another source projects that it will be Janel and Val. So who will it be?

Well, let’s take a look at which couples may be in the final 4, though if you’ve been reading Heidi’s Dancing By the Numbers, it may seem a bit obvious. For now, let’s see if numerology confirms what Heidi sees from the math. How does numerology work? Well, that subject is beyond the scope of this blog. Let’s just say, it works. However, gotta admit that numerology is not an exact science. It takes the blending of many factors, and that’s where numerology becomes an art. …Read more

DWTS Season 17 Las Vegas Odds Going Into The Finals, Tighter Than Tight Tight

Wow, since my time of reporting at PureDWTS, I don’t remember the odds makers putting out such tight odds for the finals of Dancing With The Stars? Also, check out how they’ve placed Bill Engvall in 3rd with 5/1 odds!! Amazing. I’m literally in shock. Not that I don’t think Bill might not get 3rd (especially after seeing how he danced during his Argentine tango), but, hasn’t Jack Osbourne proven he’s a better dancer than Bill? If I were betting, I’d put all my chips with Amber Riley and Corbin Bleu. I also still think the dark horse is Jack. Then again, maybe it’s Bill? I’m starting to get confused. 😯 Anyway, good luck to them all. I really love every single one of them and wish them the best! Below is more from Sports Bovada.

Corbin Bleu 1/1
Amber Riley 5/4
Bill Engvall 5/1
Jack Osbourne 10/1

Below are last week’s odds:

Corbin Bleu 2/3
Amber Riley 8/5
Leah Remini 9/1
Jack Osbourne 12/1
Bill Engvall 25/1

Court and Heidi, what do you think?

Courtney: First off, I’m just glad that at this point, any of the couples left could walk away with the trophy and I could honestly say I’d be fine with it – and I don’t think I’ve EVER felt that way about a finale before.  There always seems to be at least one finalist per season that I really don’t want to win – but I like all the couples left.  So right of the bat – I’m just happy to have a bit of that weight off my shoulders 🙂 As for who’s actually going to win – I’m feeling a bit less resolute in my belief that Corbin & Amber will be the final two standing, and I think Jack could potentially play spoiler and end up either in second place or winning the whole thing.  Why? Because Jack seems to be the “alternative” choice – those who are from the “no ringers!!!” camp won’t vote for Corbin & Amber, and those from the “this is a dance show, a good dancer should win!” camp won’t vote for Bill; but as Carrie Ann mentioned in her blog, the only thing that viewers seem to universally agree on is that Jack deserves to be there. He very well may be the dark horse to win this thing – especially since I’m starting to notice more backlash against Amber & Corbin (Corbin in particular) these past few days.  As much as I love Bill, I think the judges are going to do everything in their power to ensure that he doesn’t get any better than 4th place – but then again, I think they’ve been trying to boot him out for several weeks now, and it hasn’t worked.  I think he may be able to eek out 3rd – especially if there’s a bit of a shock and Corbin is the first to get booted out of the finale.  I’m really beginning to wonder if Corbin’s not been getting a ton of votes – I think he’s a better dancer than Amber, but I also think she’s more current and likeable; I think they could potentially be splitting some votes, too, since it seems to me like those who watched High School Musical 6 years ago are probably the type to tune into Glee now.  For that reason, I’m leaning towards Amber taking the MBT – 5th MBT for Derek backlash notwithstanding, I think she’s got the votes to carry her through.

Heidi: Ah hell, I don’t know. 🙂 I waffle in my weaker moments to thinking Amber or Corbin will be the one shut out on Monday night, to thinking that Amber will win, to thinking Jack will win – mostly I still think it’s Corbin’s to lose…and lose he could if Derek’s “I’ve never done this before” freestyle is as awesome as Amber seems to think it is.  Karina is amazing…but Derek is in his own league any more.  Derek also is VERY Zen these days and Karina still tends to get very anxious at this time of the season when she has a contender.   Cheryl seems to be her old self and should NOT be underestimated. She can certainly craft something tailor made for Jack’s strengths. Bill is charming but has a groin pull – bad news for the finale.  But I don’t think he stands a serious chance at winning anyway.  If you go by the ratings – in addition to what happened last season – there seems to be a lot more viewers and a lot more voters for the finale. I think that’s why Kellie beat Zendaya. Going on that theory, Bill’s fans who have been with him all season may lose some power – or be overwhelmed by new voters. Johnny come latelys. 🙂 And Corbin or Amber – whoever kills their freestyle – could gain some power. At the end of the day, I think finale voters are going to look at Derek and not give him another MBT. Advantage Corbin. 🙂

DWTS17 Las Vegas Odds Going Into The Semi-Finals, Switches And Tightening

If you fall behind, run faster. Never give up, never surrender, and rise up against the odds. ~Jesse Jackson

I was wondering if we’d see some switches occur in the new odds for the upcoming Semi-Finals on Dancing With The Stars. However, I never expected to see Leah Remini placed in 3rd at 9/1 odds. 😐 This is getting more and more disturbing by the week. I don’t know what to say or think anymore? 🙁 Please I just hope and pray the right four go to the finals and that is Corbin, Amber, Jack, and Bill in my opinion. Below is more from Sports Bovada.

Corbin Bleu 2/3
Amber Riley 8/5
Leah Remini 9/1
Jack Osbourne 12/1
Bill Engvall 25/1

Below are last week’s odds:

Corbin Bleu 1/1
Amber Riley 11/10
Elizabeth Berkley 7/1
Jack Osbourne 25/1
Leah Remini 75/1
Bill Engvall 100/1

Heidi, Court, and everyone, what to you think?

Courtney: Hehehe…here we complain for several weeks about Bill being stuck at the bottom with 100:1 odds, and then he suddenly jumps to 25:1 in the semifinal week 😛 I doubt he’s made THAT much of a jump, but at this point, anything could happen.  I literally could see ANY of the remaining couples making the finale, and I could see any of the remaining couples getting sent home.  I still think it’s going to ultimately come down to Corbin and someone else (most likely Amber) as the last two standing, and I guess I’m just hoping it’s not Leah that bumps Amber, Jack, or Bill out of the final two…but I continue to get the sinking feeling that Leah has been somehow guaranteed a spot in the finale, which makes me not look forward to the finale.  I think the judges are going to gun hard to send Bill home, and ensure that Corbin, Amber, & Leah make the finale; not really sure where they stand on Jack.  I know they like him better than Bill, but at the same time, I don’t think they’d be too upset about losing him if it meant keeping Leah.  Still think Corbin has the best shot of actually winning this whole thing – but if the judges continue to pick him apart and overscore Leah, I think there’s a serious chance that she of the bad attitude and the  “I’m not a dancer!” philosophy could actually win this thing…which just kinda makes me gag 🙁

Heidi: I’m trying to be optimistic here. Remember last season when Zendaya was a shoe in to win, but she lost it, IMO, on the freestyle? Zendaya had been winning all season long – the twitter contests, everything. She was the pimped one, the golden one. I was certain she would win. Then Derek choreographed that amazing freestyle and it was all over. Kellie won the final twitter contest and she won the show. I think that’s the only time in the history of the show that the freestyle gave someone the edge to  win. I think a bad freestyle costs people the win all the time, but rarely the other way around. Here’s what I’m getting at: in the finale, the dancing seems to count more than it ever does in the rest of the season. I think the finale is the first time many people vote – the ratings are certainly much higher.  Sure, some great dancers have gotten beaten by dancers who were not as good, but typically, those people were still very good dancers. Donny Osmond springs to mind. He had a huge fanbase, too, and was much more likeable than Mya. While Leah has a fanbase, I doubt very much that it’s Osmond sized – and don’t forget Marie only made it to 3rd place and she certainly had a bigger fanbase than Leah.  Leah may dance better than Bill, but she’s not as likeable. And she’s certainly not capable of getting the dances down to the point they give her the win. She may make the final -there are four spots, after all – but she won’t win it. I still have faith in that. Let’s hope I’m right. As for who will actually win, I still think it comes down to Corbin and Amber with Corbin getting the win. Amber may have the bigger fanbase going in…but so did Zendaya.  The only question in my mind is: which four make it to the finale??

Dancing With The Stars Las Vegas Odds Going Into The Finals – One Of Tightest Ever!

Going into the Dancing With The Stars All Star Finale is a tight one at that. The odds makers at Sports Bovada, have placed their final bets. It’s been an interesting season as they’ve seemed to nail who is going to finish ‘last’ every week. Then again, all season we’ve seen them placing Emmitt Smith at the top to win and well, as you know, he was eliminated last week. So, below are the odds as of right now for who will win the Dancing With The Stars All Stars. I’m in agreement with them this time. I think this is exactly how it will play out….

Shawn Johnson 1/3
Melissa Rycroft 4/1
Kelly Monaco 5/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds going into Week 7 to compare:

Shawn Johnson 4/7
Emmitt Smith 5/1
Kelly Monaco 15/2
Melissa Rycroft 15/2
Apolo Anton Ono 17/2

Be sure to let us know what you think and how you would place the couples. Let’s get Heidi and Court’s thoughts on the odds too:

Courtney: No arguments here – I still think it’s going to be Shawn’s to lose, with Melissa & Kelly a distant 2nd & 3rd.  I have a feeling Shawn & Melissa will end up pretty close in scores (and both will likely be near-perfect, unless Tony really whiffs this freestyle), and Kelly will likely trail by 3-5 points.  I’m fully expecting the judges to drop the hammer on Kelly, since I don’t think they were expecting her to last through last week’s elim.  When it comes down to the winner, though, I’m fine with either Melissa or Shawn winning  – although I think overall, Shawn & Derek have been the most creative, the best dancers, and the best entertainers this season.

Heidi: I agree that’s the order they SHOULD be in, but I don’t think it’s a slam dunk by any stretch of the imagination. And these odds guys with the 1/3 appear to think it is a slam dunk. If Melissa gets too far ahead in points – like, say, three – because of Shawn and Derek getting docked again for their quickstep, I think it’s a real horse race. I think Melissa could win this – but her routines will have to be spectacular, and by that I don’t mean all lifts. That said, I’m not convinced at all that the judges will dock Shawn and Derek for the quickstep again. They just don’t have a history of doing that. They didn’t for Mark and Chelsea and I’m sure there are others – probably all on Derek and Mark, since those two are the ones who take risks. They tend to loosen up on their own issues in the finale. Not to mention that I have this sneaking suspicion that Derek and Shawn had the quickstep picked FOR them, as did the others. In any case, Shawn and Derek suffer from the “sure thing” syndrome and I hope their fans realize this. Their biggest risk is that people don’t vote because they assume she’s going to win.  That’s the price of creating AMAZING dances all season long. Not to mention that the producers edits of the packages are going to go OVERBOARD on the sob stories of “Tony’s never won…” and “Melissa and Kelly are such underdogs…” blah blah blah. Unfortunately, that crap works on the average Joe.

Brooke Burke Charvet Talks Of The Tight Competition On Dancing With The Stars With KTLA

Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke Charvet was a guest on KTLA today. She thought for sure Derek Hough and Shawn Johnson had this competition in the bag when the show first started, but, now she’s not so sure. The level of competition is tighter and at a higher level than she expected with free style moves thrown in the dances, etc. “It’s insane” and she’s glad she isn’t dancing this season. You can find the new interview with Brooke at KTLA in the Celebrity Interview Section at this link (sorry, I can’t embed it).

Brooke also spoke at The Brita Bottle For Kids Donation Event at Field Elementary School in Pasadena, California today (pictured above). You can see more pictures of her at Zimbio.

Tight Las Vegas Odds For Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Semi-Finals

Last week I was shocked the Las Vegas odds makers put Roshon in last place at such low odds, but, well….you know the outcome as both he and Melissa were voted off of Dancing With The Stars. Leading into the Semi-finals, the competition and the odds have tightened up…and maybe even more so that we’ve ever seen them on this show thus far? However, note how Katherine has moved down from a first place position to third (for the first time this season) and is tied with Maria. Donald is in first place and William is in second place. Below is what Las Vegas Sports Betting is reporting currently…

New Las Vegas Odds for this week:

Donald Driver 7/4
William Levy 5/2
Maria Menounos 3/1
Katherine Jenkins 3/1

Last week’s Las Vegas Odds:

Katherine Jenkins 9/5
Donald Driver 19/10
Maria Menounos 3/1
William Levy 7/2
Melissa Gilbert 60/1
Roshon Fegan 75/1

So, do the odds makers have it right or wrong this time? I can’t decide? This is honestly the tightest competition I’ve ever seen (which I’m loving). It’s really anyone’s ballgame. Let’s get Heidi’s thoughts and be sure to let us know your thoughts too in the comment section. We’d get Court’s thoughts too, but, she’s currently giving the odds makers a piece of her mind personally in Vegas. 😯 8)

Heidi: I think they’re closer to right now than they’ve every been, of course they have the luxury of changing it up every week, don’t they. 🙂   I have to wonder what made them hop on the Donald train though – it’s not like the judges have been pimping him like they do William, nor has he been getting over scored. Do they just see the writing on the wall or what?? In any case, this is a pretty close race but I think the dances are in Donald and Katherine’s favor, William needs no help because he’ll be scored well no matter what, and Maria has Jive and broken feet.  Should be an interesting week. I would kill to see William go out forth, but with Maria’s broken feet and Katherine’s smaller fanbase, I don’t see that happening.

Dancing with the Stars Season 30 WEEK 3!! LIVE BLOG!!

Well, week 3 is also shaping up to be very interesting. So, Cody and Cheryl are going to perform with COVID – okay, totally glad that they feel well enough to attempt it, but wonder if every couple would get the same leeway. :::shrug::: Hopefully we don’t find out.

Also, totally get Court’s need for a break….I’m not even posting that much on PureDerekHough these days. It all seems like too much work, when I have a 9 to 5 on top of it. Maybe when I retire….someday. 🙂

T-45 minutes! See you then.

Cue cheesy opening. Cue Tyra catwalk in attire that is so not….

I’m totally digging Jenna and JoJo’s outfits. Also realized that I get such a charge out of that pairing. Hope it stays that way.

Ah…so that’s why Derek’s residency was cancelled for last night. That sucks. And he’s the main reason I watch this damn show so I’m going to miss him. 🙁

Amanda up first!! OMG, my mom is from her area!!

Of course she is amazing at this as well. I believe ChaCha…got distracted by Derek’s absence. Her arms were a bit funky in a couple spots. But great dance!

Len says she coped very well, but doesn’t excite him because there is nothing spontaneous. Bruno is…Bruno. Loves her legs but says she could give more impetus to the hips. Work on details now. CAI says she’s stunning, she loved how clean it was, but it is lacking posture. I thought it was her arms but maybe that’s what it was.

Scores: 8, 8, 8 for a total of 24. Good score!!

Iman is up next and I like this dude. And you all know about my girl crush on Daniella. 🙂 Awww…cute babies. WTF? Why’d they give him Tango? Why?

Ooo, precise. Little too much swag, but all in all he’s coping quite well. Shitty camera work returns to DWTS. He’s standing up straight, posture doesn’t suck. I thought that was great!

Bruno says it was nice, solid tango, he’s really concentrating, tried heel leads. Try now to make it smoother. CAI says she didn’t expect, the way he toned down to match Danielle was impressive. Didn’t like him out of hold, stay elegant. Len says he’s never sure what’s going to turn up. Could see he was trying to work his feet, gave it his all.

Scores: 7, 6, 6 for a total of 19. Personally, I think that’s too low considering he pulled that off and he’s not a ringer.

Christine is up next. Curious to see if she’s in the bottom again or if this season is similar to last, where a near elimination boosts her votes. She loves being a mom and she didn’t think she ever would be. OMG, cutie baby. She’s doing a Paso.

Very strong start. Pasha getting off the stool was rough and her back leg kicking back was…odd. She’s doing an excellent job although she’s a tiny bit out of sync.

CAI says the shaping is beautiful, you have what it takes to win. Len was so shocked she was in the bottom two, glad she’s back, clean, crisp Paso Doble. Bruno love it, she was in charge and she went for it. They’re raving, which is odd. Great dance, but far from perfect.

Scores: 7, 7, 7 for a total of 21. They raved but gave her lower scores than Amanda who they had criticism for. Typical for these wacky judges. Where is Derek to keep it real??

Jojo and Jenna up next. I’m the weirdo that likes their dresses. I think Jojo is so much cuter when she’s not wearing all the glittery gunk. Just a button down and pants. Cute.

Doing an AT. Great start. Jenna – best choreographer on the show, challenged only by Daniella. This is excellent. I’m mesmerized. And Jojo did some killer lifts.

Len says it was a well crafted routine, liked the lifts. Too staccato in places, but she’s can’t make a bad performance, right on point. Bruno says she knows how to hit is. Always with the right side of sexy, works the camera like no one else. Might have missed a step in the middle. CAI agrees, but when she dances she’s powerful – she leads with clarity and intention.

I agree with CAI – she’s fun to watch and she’s great at it.

Scores: 8, 8, 8 for a total of 24. I would have given her one more point, just for being more exciting to watch than Amanda.

Kenya up next also with a Tango…kinda mean to put the Tango and AT back to back. Dancing to Womanizer…which will always make me think of Derek and Anna’s Tango.

They need the staccato from Jojo’s dance in this one. By no means is she doing badly, but she needs to be sharper. She’s got all the steps, just too soft.

Bruno says she’s back on track, it was a good tango, gliding across the floor. CAI says it was beautiful, supermodel vibes, so refined and elegant. She wobbled a few times. Len says hold was a bit loose, and lacked a bit of body contact, but captured the flavor of the dance.

Scores: 7, 7, 7 for a total of 21 – I can live with that.

Val camera hogging in the background. Goodie. Jeeeez…another Tango from Brian an Sharna?? 90210 sharna not a fan. 🙂

I understand the lace, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Off to an underwhelming start. I don’t know if it’s the choreo or the song that’s not working for me. And the ending was weird.

CAI acting cray – says he’s finally arrived, but send more energy to the ground. Len says frame was overall good, body contact was there, footwork was pretty poor. Spirited effort. Bruno says he had mad max face, footwork needs work. This is week 3 fuckstick – not that “close to the middle of the season”.

Scores: 7, 6, 6 for a total of 19 – I agree with that score and that ties him with Iman. And I was more impressed with Iman’s.

Melora up next and she’s overwhelmed and vulnerable.

Dancing ChaCha….she looks great. and she’s working it pretty well. She’s still got a bit of a posture problem, but she’s doing pretty well. I thought that was pretty good!!

Len says that’s the Artem he loves, so much more hip action, great performance. Bruno says a veil has been lifted, she became the character. CAI says everyone stands out because she made it look easy, added light and shade.

Scores: 8, 7, 8 for a total of 23 – Not sure I would have gone that high, but hell, good for her.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually like Tyra’s dress.

Mel C is up next and what is on her head??? ANOTHER Tango – this one to Toxic, which I love.

Okay, I get the hat. Still don’t like it, but I get it. Hate Gleb’s suit. Mel is dancing this very well and her back kick is what they’re supposed to look like. Little stumble there towards the end?? Not sure.

Bruno says she was flying high, first class service. CAI says it was filled with content, lines and legs are good, but something is a bit forced. Len says it was a bit stop/start, but got better at the end. Len says she’s a terrific dancer.

Scores: 7, 7, 8 for a total of 22 – that might have been a bit too low.

Dang, Jimmy’s got a cute baby too. Jimmy is doing a Salsa.

Dang that did by side was great. I can hear Len complaining about content, but I’m loving it, it’s well executed. That side by side is tough and he killed it. Love the lifts and flips!!.

CAI complains about his wonky fists and it distracted her, two of the lifts ins and outs were rough. Len liked the easy action and the rhythm. Last lift wasn’t in character. Bruno says they were watching another show, he thought that it all flowed beautiful, and notes the side by side sections were great.

Scores: 6, 6, 8 for a total of 20 – this was horribly underscored. Criminal.

Numbers Update: Here’s where we stand:

Amanda, Jojo 24
Melora 23
Mel C 22
Kenya, Christine, Jimmy 21
Iman, Brian 19

Despite being horribly underscored, I think Jimmy will be fine – I think he beats both Christine and Kenya.

Olivia is up next with…you guessed it…a Tango.

Love her outfit. She’s doing a good job Might have been taking steps that were too big at the beginning. That was actually quite good though!

Len says that was a proper tango, full of attach and staccato – using Val as an example? Ugh. Bruno says he loves the transformation. CAI calls it the best dance of the night, might have missed a step at the beginning, but great.

Scores: 8, 8, 8 for a total of 24 – I think I agree with that. She did a good job!

Cody and Cheryl are up next dancing in quarantine. They’re each in their own homes?? This is odd.

He’s doing very well. Are they out of sync or does one of them have bad internet? 🙂 Pretty darn good. Cheryl was a bit irrelevant.

Bruno admires the perseverance and commitment, knows he has the ability but hard to judge – knows they’re both good, but hard to judge. CAI – bravo to both of you for dancing with Covid. Didn’t compare to those in the ballroom, but it wasn’t as great as it could be. Len – these are strange times, clear and tight, got the interchange. For the circumstances you did a terrific job.

Scores: 6, 6, 6 for a total of 18 – that seems fair.

Pros are going on tour. Ho hummmmm. Much rather see Daniella dancing with Derek again – now that was something to see!!

Suni up next with a….Foxtrot!! Hooray, something different.

Okay, it’s a foxtrot that feels like a Tango, with a wobbly handstand. Her arms are good, but what is going on here? She ‘s a bit wobbly in places and she’s too young for that.

CAI senses discomfort, know that you can still exude confidence. Len says not so much for him, didn’t capture foxtrot (agreed). Bruno says she started to play with the character, once you let it go you get more comfortable.

Scores: 7, 7, 7, for a total of 21 – which seems over scored compared to people with lower scores.

Numbers Update: Man. Tough call. But considering the scores are wonky and some people just have larger fanbases, I think that some combo of Melora, Christine will be in the bottom, depending on the remaining dances.

Matt is up next, talking about his mom and growing up in Raleigh.  He’s dedicating his dance to her. His mom is so pretty. He’s dancing a….TANGO. 🙂

He’s doing a credible job, mainly because Lindsay is a good pro and he’s been working hard on it. He’s definitely not a ringer, so I give him props. His feet are problematic, but other than that…

Len says it was a full on routine and calls out some footwork, but plenty of passionate and attack. Bruno says he’s over dressed. Did a good job, concentration was great, lots of content. CAI agrees with the other two, says there is a new refinement.

Scores, 7, 6, 7 for a total of 20 – I would have gone full 21.

Numbers Update: Totally forgot to include Cody in my calculations of the last numbers. He could easily be in the bottom two, I think. He’s got the low score and i don’t think most of the demo is on Peloton. I could be wrong.

The Miz up next and last? Love this dude and his enthusiasm. Are we still pretending wrestling is real? Okay.

A salsa!! Love Wit’s outfit. He adds little steps or hops, which he needs to stop doing. But he’s doing pretty well. Wit included too many of those lift/whip things. Not bad! I love him. 🙂

Bruno is having a good look and lusting. CAI says he’s so fun (agreed), lifts were amazing, needs softer. Len says he has no back ground unlike others, performed to a great level. Love that shout out – a shit ton of ringers this season and those that aren’t are at a disadvantage.

Scores: 7, 7, 8 for a total of 22 – that seems a bit over scored, compared to Jimmy and a few others.

Tyra shut UP!! Jesus. The blather so fast you can barely understand her.

Final Numbers: Well, tough call. People with what I think are smaller fanbases are solidly in the middle or near the top of the pack

Amanda, Jojo, Olivia 24
Melora 23
Mel C, Miz 22
Kenya, Christine, Suni 21
Jimmy, Matt 20
Iman, Brian 19
Cody 18

I”m thinking Cody, Kenya ,Christine or Melora will be in the bottom. Long shot about Melora, since she’s in the second position. With Christine getting nearly eliminated last week, she might have rallied this week. So, that narrows it down to Cody and Kenya.  Tough call.

Two night Disney week has a special challenge. VIP showing the moves that need to be included – it’s Mickey. Kinda silly.

Here we go with the elimination – who will be safe?

SAFE: Olivia and Val
SAFE: Jimmy and Emma
SAFE: Malora and Artem
SAFE: Jojo and Jenna
SAFE: Iman and Daniella
SAFE: Mel C and Gelb
SAFE: Brian and Sharna
SAFE: Matt and Lindsay
SAFE: Suni and Sasha

Called it. The lack of Derek made Tyra’s spiel work this week.

CAI saves Kenya
Bruno saves Kenya

I figured they wouldn’t go against the audience for Christine. Len kissing up saying he would save Christine. Tyra, you fucked up blathering on you just totally dissed Christine and Pasha. Get over yourself and your need to camera hog.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing with the Stars Season 30 Premiere!! LIVE BLOG!!

It’s happening tonight – we’re going to see if I still have what it takes to live blog an episode of DWTS. 😀 I’m posting this way early so everyone remembers that: a) it’s on TV tonight, and b) we are blogging. 🙂 Hard for me to even remember a, at this point.

See you at 8pm eastern/7pm central time!!

Just saw a Tyra interview on ET and all she talked about was her clothes. Jesus. Nothing on the celebs, judges, pros…nobody but Tyra. People wonder why I’ve lost some interest in this show. TYRA.

Okay, it’s about that time.

The opening is showing some promise. Actual dancers and judges. Derek. Bindi. Donny. Helio, Lance, Jennifer…Nice.

OMG, an actual pro dance!! I spoke too fucking soon. Tyra’s catwalk. We get more of her than we did of the pros. …Read more

Dancing with the Stars Season 29, Week 9 – LIVE BLOG

Hi all! Sorry for the lack of a “Who’s Dancing What?” post this week, but I am absolutely swamped at work, to the point I’ve worked the last several weekends. Big deadline coming soon and then hopefully all will be back to relative normal.

So, I have no clue who’s dancing to what tonight!! Should be interesting to go in with no advance knowledge. I will also warn you that I am exhausted, so it is unlikely that I will jump through the hoops to give you actual numbers tonight…not that it will matter, possibly. Nelly’s never been in the bottom two and he was low scorer by alot last week….so that’s very interesting. Could be anybody’s game!!

T-minus 48 minutes. 🙂

This Icon skit is fun. Bizarrely, this cast can act better than any cast in recent memory.

Tyrant for the second week in a row is wearing something it at is reasonably flattering.

Justina is up first with her icon, Madonna. She was obsessed with Madonna, apparently. She’s dancing a rumba to Crazy for You.

She starts out a bit slow, but she’s doing very well. Spins were nice. Kept those feet on the ground. Man, she’s doing great and she looks like she’s having fun.

Derek is David Bowie, I think, based on the guy liner. I got distracted, he says it needs more…something. Says it’s wonderful. Bruno says it’s the gentle side of Madonna. She did everything exactly. He agrees with Derek and says you have to really engage the hips, don’t hold back. Push it a bit further. CAI says she looks amazing. Some of her moves need to be extended out father.

Scores: 8, 8, 8 for a 24 out of 30.

Nelly is up next! His icon is tupac – who was much more handsome than I remember. Nelly is going to cover the song and dance to that – a Jazz to California Love.

Whoa, backflip. He’s having a bit of trouble with this, but it is jazz, so there are no rules. About midway through he seems to find his groove. That was kind of a weird routine, although I love him.

Bruno says jazz nelly style makes him smile. He had an ease about him. Says he missed a couple steps, and Nelly agrees. CAI says great job. Says it was fun and entertaining, she likes watching his journey. Derek loved the backflip, the charleston and everything. The joy, the fun was great.

Scores: 8, 8, 8 for a total of 24. Hm. That wasn’t nearly as good as Justina’s yet gets the same score. What’s going on here?

AJ and Cheryl up next, dancing to Queen…V. Waltz. Somebody to Love…love that song.

Dig the outfit. Freddie would approve. He’s doing great…oops missed a step and he’s still moving a bit small. The ending was very, very strange. Can’t figure out that move at all

CAI says that was a tough one, started out strong and then lost something in the turns (yep, saw it). Watch the arms. Derek says his heart bleeds for him, but it happens, says his frame was better. Then talks a lot about his face and tension. Bruno says the first image was amazing. So pumped up you got yourself into a jumble. Needs to soften the arms a bit.

Scores: 7, 8, 8 for a total of 23. So a dance with noticeable mistakes gets the same scores from Derek and Bruno as Justina with no mistakes and Nelly’s jazz which seems off at times?

Ha! This Bruno bit is hilarious.

Kaitlyn is up next dancing to Brittany Spears – Toxic. Argentine Tango…Hmmm…I think this has been done before. Team Tango or some such?

Nice start. Love the outfit. Nice lift down the stairs. She’s doing really well, mostly sharper than normal. Softened up a bit in the middle. Great job, although she lost some of the attack halfway through.

Derek loved it, he’s clapping. Lacked impact before, but she got it tonight. It met all his criteria. Bruno says hit me one more time. Great lines. Focus and intensity better than before. CAI gives her a standing O as well. Making excuses from previous bitchiness. Everything was in that routine.

Scores: 10, 10, 10 for a total of 30. I would probably have given her two 10’s and a 9 just because she got a bit soft toward the end. She didn’t miss a step though.

Johnny is up next with Amy Winehouse. I love Johnny, he’s so full of joy. And I knew who his icon was as soon as I saw him 🙂 Quickstep!!

Great start, great run. Be careful dude and don’t get ahead of the music. He seems to rein it in a bit, as he was on the verge of getting out of control. But man, he’s killing it. Oh, broke hold. Not supposed to do that in the middle, but it might have been worth the risk. That was fast!! Loved it.

Bruno says Amy would have loved it. Did it very, very well. Actual quickstep was excellent, light of touch, precise, well done. CAI says they’ve never seen a quickstep like that, great performer. Passion power and precision. Used the whole floor. Derek says he’s a perfect representation. Being who you are is great. Footwork was clean, great job.

Scores: 10, 10, 10 for a total of 30. I would agree with that one! I didn’t see anything other that greatness.

Skai looks very beautiful, although I think either the hair color or makeup is aging her a bit. She’s gorgeous though. And she seems wise for someone so young. She’s dancing Paso Doble to Janet Jackson.

Was there supposed to be a commercial there?? And now Tyra has gone from classy to…ridiculous.

Skai…Great start. She had the same minor issue as Kaitlyn, that is losing the attack at times. Then she gets it back. Doing great, but looks a bit nervous in the middle right before the floor spin. And she threw that leg away. All in all great job though.

CAI thanks her for sharing her story, but more proud of the fierce Paso. Amazing. Derek says she’s strong, powerful, confident. Still a few moments where she’s tight. Too much tension in the arms at times. Overall great routine. Bruno says respect. Most grown up dance she’s had. Purpose, strength and beauty. Agrees with Derek on the arms.

Scores: 9, 9, 9 for a total of 27. I would agree with that one as well, but considering who’s below her on the leaderboard, she might be in trouble. Nelly stayed out of the bottom two with a far lower score than others, AJ is a boy bander (too tired and too old to remember which one)

Nev is up next with his Elton John jive.

Starts off great. He’s a great dancer, but he’s not my favorite anymore. He seems to be fading into the woodwork for me. Not allowed to do a lift in a jive and I think that was one. Once again, I hate all the running up and down the stairs. It seems like cheating for time.

Derek says he’s seen growth through out the season. Lots of content, would like a bit more pump in the motion. Bruno loved the theatricality. Says the kicks and flicks retraction needs to be sharper (I think). CAI says it’s a pleasure to watch someone having fun. Feet need to be a bit more pointed.

Jenna looks amazing tonight. Scores after the break. Tyra is not even good at that “after the break” thing.

Scores: 9, 9, 9 for a total of 27

Nev is exempt from the dance off due to his high cumulative score.

Dance off is for two bonus points. Kaitlyn versus Justina is up first. They’re doing cha cha to Lady Gaga/Beyonce?? Talk about opposites in terms of style.

From the start kaitlyn has ore technique while Justina has more flavor. Justina catches up on content. Kaitlyn is so precise and the cha cha seems more loose like Justina is. Close call for me on this one.

Derek says he loves this. Really important to stand out and he feels like one of them was. Bruno plenty of latin fire from one couple, the other one was precision and elegance. CAI says it’s like sugar and spice. It is a tough call, but I think I would give it to Justina. She needs it more for sure.

CAI: Kaitlyn
Derek: Justina
Bruno: Justina

Justina gets two points that she needs in a big way. I hope the judges don’t approach all the dances as an equalizer no matter how well they do.

Skai and Nelly are doing Salsa to Ricki Martin. This is a similar matchup to Kaitlyn/Justina – swag versus precision, although Justina is a better dancer than Nelly and Kaitlyn is more consistent than Skai.

Damn, that one is a tough call. I think I would give it to Nelly. Both had great content and fun.

Bruno was distracted by Nelly’s shiftlessness. Says skai kept up with the rhythm. Both styles were effective. CAI both were non-stop action. New school versus old school, both did great. Derek says it was like a boxing match – both were on fire. Could go either way.

CAI: Skai
Derek: Nelly
Bruno: Skai

Don’t think I agree with that one too much, although I think Skai needs it more than Nelly does.

Gee, I wonder if we’ll magically end up with Nelly at the bottom of the leader board again. I’m sure it’s totally coincidental. Not. Watch this next dance off very carefully and see what you think. But if AJ wins over the better dancer in Johnny, I will once again wonder just how rigged this thing is.

Johnny and AJ getting ready to jive to Wham, Wake me up Before you Go Go.

Johnny started off much stronger with immediate content. they are perfectly in sync while AJ is sloppier. Johnny is doing amazing at this – should beat AJ by a mile but we’ll see.

CAI: Johnny
Derek: AJ
Bruno: AJ

Sorry, that is utter bullshit and I’m so disappointed in Derek in being involved in this bullshit.

I would love to see AJ and…someone in the bottom two. I suspect it might finally be Nelly, but I would love to see him called safe again early. If it is AJ and someone it may well be Skai, would make me sad.

Here we go!
SAFE: Kaitlyn and Artem
SAFE: Skai and Alan
SAFE: Nev and Jenna
SAFE: Justina and Sasha
SAFE: Nelly and Daniella (whoa)

If they don’t save Johnny Imma….

Bruno: Johnny
Derek: AJ
CAI: Johnny

Derek is dead to me…for at least a week. Playing the corporate game. There is no way on god’s green earth that DEREK would truly pick AJ over Johnny. No way.

Dancing with the Stars Season 29, Week 4 – LIVE BLOG

Question of the (week 4) night – Tyra’s cold open will be:
A) Boring and Unfunny
B) Simply horrendous and cringe worthy.
C) Fine.

You have 20 minutes to vote. 🙂

Okay, so it’s a whiny/funny cold open. Actually, delete the funny part. Considering the state of the country, I’m not particularly amused.

Tyrant still thinks it’s a catwalk and she’s the show stopping VC model. Lucky for her, she’s not the most wrong person in the country today. Not even close. blah blah blah me me me blah celebrities blah.

Oooo…doing a lot to pimp AJ. He must not be doing that well??

Daniella is my girl crush. Great outfit. Ha, Daniella talks about celebs standing still with the pro dancing around him…she doesn’t want that. Let’s see if she succeeds. …Read more
