Above is Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke. She was seen at the Marquee Saturday night in Las Vegas which you can read about here. As you might know, Cheryl is in Las Vegas this week to judge the Miss America Pageant. You can watch Cheryl in a Good Morning America preview of the pageant at this link with Sam Champion who is also judging.
By the way, I’m really interested in how this pageant turns out this year as Miss Wyoming is from where I live.
Today Robin Leech of the Las Vegas Sun revealed the seven new judges for the 2013 Miss America Pageant. The judges for Miss America include four TV personalities: Mary Hart of Entertainment Tonight, Sam Champion of Good Morning America (love him!), World vault champion McKayla Maroney, Fashion designer Bradley Bayou, Daymond John of Shark Tank, 2009’s Miss America Katie Stam Irk, and lastly, Dancing With The Stars Cheryl Burke.
Robin reports that the celebrity panel will arrive in Las Vegas right after New Year’s along with the 50 contestants and Miss Nevada’s Randi Sundquist. The judges have the important task of evaluating the contestants from preliminary competitions and private interviews. The competition will then take place on January 12th, 2013.
Congratulations to Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet. According to ABC, she and “The Bachelor’s” Chris Harrison are set to host the 2013 Miss America Pageant. This will make the pair’s third time they’ve co-hosted the show together. Sam Haskell, Board Chairman of the Miss America Organization, called the duo a “wonderful team”. Below is more from the link…
“Together they helped us achieve record ratings on ABC last January, and we are so proud to welcome them back for another incredible television event”
The 2013 Miss America Competition will air LIVE on ABC on Saturday, January 12th from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
In light of the recent statements made by Donald Trump and the subsequent decision by NBC to cut ties with Mr. Trump, I cannot in good conscience move forward with participating in this year’s Miss USA Pageant as its co-host. Effective today I have withdrawn from my duties with Miss USA. Although I will not be there in person, I wish all of the contestants much luck as I know how hard they’ve all been working over the last year to try and realize their dreams.
Burke’s departure comes on the same day that NBC would air an “American Ninja Warrior” special on the night it was originally scheduled to air Miss USA. The three-hour July 12 special will be the show’s second annual “USA vs. the World” extravaganza, in which top competitors from the hot Monday series “American Ninja Warrior” go head to head with competitors from Japan and Europe. Last year’s “USA vs. the World” special in mid-September delivered a potent 1.9 rating in adults 18-49 despite facing tough reality show competition, including the season premiere of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
“Extra’s” AJ Calloway interviewed the new Miss America, Mallory Hagan, in New York’s Times Square this week after her win. As Miss America fans know, she did an amazing tap dance for her talent routine. He asks her is she’d ever do Dancing With The Stars. She said she’d “be on it (Dancing With The Stars) in a heartbeat”. She raved about Cheryl Burke being a judge on Miss America and now she feels like they are “already friends”. Mallory points out how they haven’t ever had a Miss America on Dancing With The Stars. Wow, so true and I can see this happening. What’s more, I’d love it Mallory did Dancing With The Stars. What do you think? Let’s get Miss Heidi’s thoughts….
Heidi: I’m not a fan of Miss America, the pageant. Don’t hate it, just am not a fan. And that might be why I say that I can’t see it happening – I mean, what kind of viewership did the show get?? And is there any way that the pageant would give her the time to actually do the show? I doubt it very much. And if she has to wait for her reign to be over? Then she’s no longer relevant unless she parlays it into a higher profile gig. Hell, the Bachelor chicks are more famous than Miss America, I think. Sorry, Vogue – I don’t see it happening. 🙂
ADDING: Below is a new interview with Miss America and the WSJ Digital Network. They ask her about Dancing With The Stars and think it would be unfair if she danced. She defends herself and thinks it would be the best thing for the Miss America Organization. So true. I am so dreaming for this girl to dance!!
Pictured above is Dancing With The Stars Cheryl Burke and co-host Brooke Burke Charvet. Last night, Cheryl helped to judge the 2013 Miss America Pageant at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas while Brooke co-hosted. Mallory Hagan (also pictured above) went on to be crowned the new Miss America. You can view more pics of the event today at Zimbio Pictures and Getty Images.
Did any of you see it? If so, what did you think? It was a great show. I was rooting for my hometown girl Miss Wyoming who ended up placing 3rd (a first for Wyoming and she did it with so much grace and elegance). Anyway, it was a great night of TV and it rekindled my love for Miss America. Brooke and Cheryl did an excellent job and seemed to put their whole hearts into it. I loved all of Brooke’s gowns too…stunning. My only complaint is that the show moved so fast. I wish they had taken one more hour to cover it with more personal stories on the contestants. Another idea is to cover it in two or three nights?
Pictured above is Cheryl Burke! As you know from previous postings, the Dancing With The Stars pro is in Las Vegas judging the Miss America pageant. Yesterday, Cheryl posed for pictures at a judges press conference. She said she’s found a new love and respect for “Miss America” in taking on this task. She also knows what it’s liked to be “judged” after being on Dancing With The Stars. So, she’s keeping that in mind as well as looking for that special girl who is compassionate and one she can relate too. Lots more below. You can view more photos of Cheryl at Zimbio Pictures.
Today, Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet shared her “cancer” journey on Good Morning America from the diagnosis to her recovery. She’s “back to work” now and “feeling great”.
Brooke also talks of her future plans and co-hosting Miss America this weekend which airs Saturday on ABC. Brooke will be co-hosting the pageant with Bachelor host Chris Harrison. On the Miss America contestants Brooke said, “They’re so smart, so charitable. It’s really about scholarships. They’re all beautiful.”
You can watch Brooke’s appearance on Good Morning America here and don’t forget to watch her on Miss America this weekend too if interested.
Pic above courtesy of Brooke’s twitter. It was taken early this morning before she did GMA! It’s good to see her again and in such high spirits. I’m so glad she’s ok.
The post Miss America coverage continues here at Pure Dancing With The Stars. Above is a picture taken of judges Mark Ballas, Raul de Molina, Kris Jenner, Lara Spencer, Chris Powell, Mike Fleiss, Teri Polo, and the lovely, newly crowned Miss America Laura Kaeppeler. You can see more post pictures of Mark and the group at Zimbio.com. There is a cool album here too (Facebook account required). Some pictures include Miss America host Brooke Burke one of which you can view below. Stunning gown! What do you think?
ADDING: You can also read on how Mark and the other judges have influenced next year’s pageant at Vegas Deluxe. Below is a take which is a good idea I think….
Lara and Mark said that they recognize the relevancy of Miss America but want her to become more of a celebrity during the yearlong, hard job she reigns over. “It’s a shame that she’s MIA in public recognition when they’ve taken on this incredible responsibility and worked so hard for it,” Lara said.
Mark commented: “We can update and still respect the fact she is relevant and a wonderful role model with great confidence who connects with everybody from politicians to pop stars. I want to have more young people saying, ‘I want to be like Miss America” — and that might mean taking a ’70s wardrobe look into modern times and changing the music for the talent competition.”
Above is a picture taken of Dancing With The Stars Pro and Miss America Judge Mark Ballas and the newly crowned Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler! As most of you know from our previous reports, the final night of the 2012 Miss America Pageant was held and broadcast live from ABC last night. The event took place at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas! The photo above was taken by Scott Harrison. You can read more on the night and see more high quality photos at Vegas News. Looks like Mark had the best time judging this pageant and he’ll have some memories to carry with him for a long time to come.
