Dancing With The Stars Watch Outs: Victor Cruz And Gracie Gold??

Apparently, Victor Cruz has been released by the Giants. As you know, for several seasons, Victor Cruz has been rumored to dance on Dancing With The Stars. Could this finally be his time? Read below thanks to this find by DWTSGossip….

Also, we want to put Olympic Figure Skater Gracie Gold on “watch out” for a year from now. In a video at Pure Derek Hough, Gracie said she wanted to dance with Derek Hough on Dancing With The Stars after the 2018 Olympics. Not only that, she wants to dance with Derek Hough. Take a listen HERE if interested. She’s so cool.

Dancing with the Stars Asked Victor Cruz To Dance, But,….

Hmmm, it might be awhile before we see NLF football player Victor Cruz dance. Then again, who knows?

I really do hope we see this Victor dance on Dancing With The Stars someday.

No DWTS Season 14 for Victor Cruz (Rumor Patrol)

In the category of  “Could see this coming a mile away”…It’s all over twitter that Victor Cruz, the end zone Salsa champ, won’t be hitting the ballroom this season. From the NY True Blue Blog:

So I asked Victor Cruz the question Friday afternoon: “Of all the requests you’ve gotten, are there any you have taken a double take on, any that have been crazy, weird or surprising?”

His answer generated plenty of buzz when the Paterson native revealed Wednesday he had received an offer to participate in Dancing with the Stars, which he turned down.
The invitation, of course, is directly related to Cruz’s now-famous salsa dance he does in the end zone to celebrate scoring a touchdown.

DWTS Off Topic: New York Giant’s Victor Cruz Does A Salsa In The End Zone!

Did anyone see New York Giant’s wide receiver, Victor Cruz, do a “Salsa” in the end zone after he made a touch down on Sunday? Unless the Chicago Bears are playing, I rarely watch football, but, I just happened to see this scene go down while bringing hubby a snack (while he was watching the game). Priceless!! This guy should do Dancing With The Stars!! Below is Salsa instructor Jason Myra talking about it. You can also read more about Victor, his dance, and the game at the NY Daily.

NOTE: This is not a rumor and it currently has nothing to do with Dancing With The Stars…well, unless TPTB has seen him and decides to ask Victor to dance at some point? Very sexy Salsa, Victor Cruz!

PureDWTS Season 18 Cast Watch: Interesting Things on Twitter/Instagram

So I know I’ve warned you guys not to read too far into who follows who on Twitter – but that’s exactly what I’m going to do right now.  😛 Do as I say, not as I do, kids! But for what it’s worth, in the past, we have been able to deduce some partnerships based on who the pros and/or rumored celebs recently started following on Twitter – and in season 11, we had a negligent casting director to thank for inadvertently spoiling the entire cast by following all of them of Twitter mere days before the announcement.  So what interesting stories might Twitter tell about this season’s celebs? Keep an eye on this page, as we may update it if some other interesting followings occur between now and the cast announcement…which we will be live blogging starting Tuesday morning, hint hint 😉

Things to keep in mind: the pros and celebs have gotten much, much more careful than they’ve been in previous seasons – they know we’re watching Twitter, so they aren’t likely to do something as dumb as each following their partner mere days before the cast announcement.  But they do slip-up from time to time, which is where we come in.  Keep in mind as well that the pros and celebs could have met in a capacity unrelated to the show – just because they’re following each other, does not mean they’re partnered together. Or that the celeb is doing DWTS 😛 …Read more

Pure DWTS Exclusive: Sharna Burgess Talks Of Dancing Like The Pros, Kym Johnson, And New Season of Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With The Stars Sharna Burgess had such a great time dancing for “Dancing Like The Pros” last week in Niagara Falls at the Fallsview Casino in Canada. At the time we reported about it, there wasn’t much out there except from Edyta Sliwinska at twitter. In case you don’t know, Edyta along with her husband Alec Mazo helped to put on the show. The two are former Dancing With The Stars pros. Along with Sharna, the full cast included Antonina Skobina, Denys Drozdyuk, Daniella Karagach, Joanna Pacitti, Paul Barris, Anna Rosh, Jean Marc Genereux, Artur Adamski, Laurence Bolduc, Jean-Philippe Milot, Alex Karaulov and Vlada Semenova. Dancing With The Stars Kym Johnson also helped to judge the event. Sharna danced with Paul Barris and ended up WINNING!! Below are some fun photos from Dancing Pros Facebook and Sharna’s twitter….

And that’s not all! We were able to ask Sharna a few questions about what it was like dancing for “Dancing With The Pros” and the upcoming new season of Dancing With The Stars. Below is the new interview. Enjoy and we thank Sharna and her publicist for helping us put this together.

Hey Sharna, tell us about your recent trip to Niagara Falls and what it was like dancing for “Dancing Like the Pros”? Was it your first trip to Niagara Falls? Did you get to visit Niagara Falls or do anything else while you are there?

Niagra falls was beautiful as always. Such incredible standing there not just hearing but feeling the weather and the power is possesses. I’ve been there once before while I was on tour, and it was still amazing the second time round.

There was no time to do anything while I was there, we were performing two shows a day at the falls view casino. Dancing like the pros is a show put together by DWTS alums Alec and Edyta. I love these two, great people, super talented and genuinely love what they do. Getting to know them was wonderful and being a part of their show was a lot of fun. Kym Johnson was there with us as a judge, and she was so good at it!! Future Dwts judge maybe 😉 I’m just putting it out there, right now she is way too special as a pro.

Are you excited about the new season of Dancing with the Stars coming up? Anyone you would love to see in the new cast of celebs or anyone you would love to dance with?

I’m super excited about this season!!! I’m so itching to get back in the ballroom and create some magic 🙂 I’m already picking songs and themes and getting my head around some really cool group number concepts.

I would love to have Victor Cruz or John Stamos. But If I could shoot for the stars on my Dwts wish list it would totally be Hugh Hackman or Bradley Cooper :)))

See you all soon!! Well… Fingers crossed 😉

Yes, FINGERS CROSSED!! We hope we see you back too, Sharna, and to see everything you have planned!! I love the idea of Kym Johnson being a judge for Dancing With The Stars too! And oh, Hugh Jackman! Can you imagine if he were to dance?! 😀

PureDWTS 2013 Exclusive Interview With Dancer Sharna Burgess, Breathtaking Photos To Go With

Dancer Sharna Burgess gave us an exclusive interview where she talks all about her break during the off season of Dancing With The Stars. She spent some lovely time with family, friends, and her boyfriend Paul Kirkland as you will soon see. Sharna also saw some movies that she gives some reviews on (Sharna, I also loved “Life Of Pi”. It gets my vote for best movie of 2012! “WOW” is right!). As always, a dancer never rests as Sharna had some other projects she worked on and she’s been dreaming about new choreography and more for Dancing With The Stars. Keep your fingers crossed as Sharna is hoping to hear word soon on whether or not she will be a pro this season. Sharna was also gracious enough to send us lots of incredible and breathtaking pictures too over her break. You can click on them to get the full size. They’d make beautiful Desk tops for your computer. THANK YOU SO MUCH SHARNA and I, for one, will be keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

1. Hi Sharna!!! How are you and how has your break been from the show? Did you get lots of rest and do some fun things, see any movies, etc? How are your fur babies? When do you come back to the States??

SharnaBurgessChristmas2

Hi!! Im great, it has been a whirl wind since our DWTS finale but i am loving it! I was blessed to have my man Paul Kirkland, come to Australia with me and spend christmas and New Years with my family and friends. We toured the great ocean road together which was to die for. If any of you make it out to Australia please do it, it totally took my breath away. We also spent a lot of time water skiing and wake boarding. Australia was SO hot that you could seriously only be in the water.

PaulKirklandSharnaBurgess1

We watched a bunch of movies over the break, i loved Pitch Perfect, Life of Pi (WOW!!!) and The Guardians. Actually i recently watched Silver Linings with Peta Murgatroyd and wow, what an incredible film, its dark, but in the most beautiful way. I understand why its cleaning up the awards! I really cant wait to see Hansel and Gretel too!

PaulKirklandSharnaBurgess2

Our beautiful fur baby was more than happy to see her mum and dad when we finally returned. We were gone for all up about 5 weeks. When we walked in the door she kind of just stared at us for a second, almost as if to say “oh so you decided to come back? where have you been!!” I really missed her. …Read more

Emmitt Smith Chats On Casting Football Players For Dancing With The Stars And More

Emmitt Smith tells the Huffington Post that he’s “not upset, only disappointed” that he didn’t win the All-Stars mirror-ball trophy. He also had some thoughts on casting future football players. For instance, below are his thoughts on Tim Tebow and Victor Cruz….

“I don’t think Tim Tebow would kill it. I don’t think he would do well on the dance floor. I think he would be limited. Victor Cruz might kill it. At least, he could salsa,” says Emmitt.

Speaking of football players on the show more generally, Emmitt said, “It opens another level of exposure I wouldn’t get from the game itself. When I was playing the game, I had a helmet on my head; people rarely saw my face. I think it’s a smart business move, but at the end of the day, you have to have some of the same qualities. I’m known as a champion on the football field, I wanted to be known as a champion in the ballroom. So you don’t want to just get in for the exposure, because you can be exposed positively or negatively.”

So true!! That goes for everyone too not just football players. If a celeb is going to dance, do it for the love of dance, not just for exposure. Also, bring on VICTOR CRUZ! 😀

You can read more at the Huffington Post including Emmitt’s thoughts on White dancers versus Black dancers.

DWTS Season 14, Weeks 5 – The Cheesecake Awards!!

Ta DA!! We’re in catch up mode. 🙂

First – WEEK 5

The “Can’t Carry a Tune in a Bucket” Award: Len and Bruno, for their rendition of either “Maria” or “How Do you Solve a Problem Like Maria”…we can’t be sure. 🙂

Heidi: So, the first time I saw it, I thought they were doing a little West Side Story…the second time I saw it, I’m honestly not sure. Don’t quit your day job, boys…if I can’t tell what you’re going for, you can’t sing. 🙂  If I had to bet, I would call Len Sound of Music and Bruno West Side Story. 🙂

Courtney: Screw musicals…I think we’re giving them too much credit there.  I think they both were just making it up as they went along and just hoping that that the audience was even less educated than they were and would just assume that they were singing a legitimate song…and the fact that they were both doing it might somehow lend creedence to their made-up tune.  Whatever it was…it was dumb.

Brooke Burke Flub O’the Night: “We’ve combined your jokes with the judges scores…”

Heidi: Have you heard the one about the judge who walked into the bar?? He tried to give the barmaid a “10” and….well, I can’t think of a good joke. But does one really need one when Brooke is around? 🙂 In all fairness, she’s been better this season than previously, but her occasional tongue tripping can be entertaining.

Courtney: My aunt used to have this parrot named Joey that would repeat literally ANY word it heard – but it would do it at random times, and sometimes form sentences that weren’t quite coherent, contextually.  I’m beginning to think that Brooke is the reincarnation of Joey, the way she will occasionally swap out the word she intends to use with one she has just heard or thought about 🙂 If so, I fully expect her to start making the skud missile sound effect and start calling people SOB’s by season’s end…can’t wait 😉

The Award for Best Reaction to being Called Safe: Melissa Gilbert – Half-Pint CUSSED!!!! 🙂

Heidi: Hehehehe…loved it. Sweet, quiet Melissa gets bleeped on live television. You go girl. You really CAN take the Prairie out of the girl. 😉

Courtney: And it was a LOOOONG cuss – like a full 5 seconds of the sound being completely bleeped out.  I can only imagine what is was she said…whatever it was, I’m sure I’d be proud 😉 …Read more

DWTS Season 14 – The Great “Previous Dance Experience” Debate, Part I

WARNING: If you came here to seriously bitch & moan about how so-and-so has an unfair advantage due to their previous dance experience and how you’re boycotting the show and yadda yadda yadda – look elsewhere 🙂 We’ve been doing this for a few seasons now, and here’s the gist: many of the celebs on the show have at least SOME dance experience coming into the show – be it good or bad…and often, comically bad.  Hence the quotations around the title – this is a very tongue-in-cheek post, kids.  😉

Today we’re gonna take a look at this season’s male celebs, and see just exactly how much hoofin’ they’ve done in the past and discuss what it might mean for them on the show – and we’ll probably point & laugh and generally act like teenage boys in our commentary. 😎

First up, let’s take a look at Jack Wagner, who is perhaps best known as Frisco Jones from the soap opera General Hospital from 1984-95.  Jack’s also a musician, and this clip is montage of Frisco & his on-screen (and former off-screen!) love, Felicia, dancing to his song “Dancing in the Moonlight”:

Court: Ahhh, the magic of VHS recordings back in the 80s & 90s…such a crisp picture. 🙂 Overall, a lot of soap opera-y swaying, with a little bit of goofball pseudo-swing dancing and fake tango thrown in…although some of what he was doing looked like it could have almost been west coast swing.  Hmmm.  Think he could get Anna to recreate that fake tango he did with Felicia, complete with a beret and French mustache? 😛

Heidi: When are they going to start dancing? What?

Vogue: Wow, let Jack wine and dine me anytime. But, seriously, if Jack can turn on the charm and romance as we see in the video above, can you imagine what his Waltz’s (or anything he dances to for that matter) are going to be like? *faints and fans myself*

The verdict: Only soap operas can make non-dancing look so..electrifying.

Now let’s take a look at Gavin DeGraw, who admittedly doesn’t do a whole lot of dancing, but rather “rhythmic swaying” during an impromptu version of Creedance Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary” during a live show (skip to the 2:20 mark):

Heidi: Nice pack…um….yeah, he’s aright.

Vogue: Uh oh, watch out for a killer and wicked Samba if nothing else. 😯

Court: I don’t know about you guys, but when I get the uncontollable urge to sing Tina Turner songs, I doff my guitar and start dancing like a drunken gypsy.

The verdict: Just say no to random Tina Turner covers, kids.

Up next we have Donald Driver, who, like many NFL players, seems to have his own brand of “touchdown dance”:

Vogue: Who needs Victor Cruz when we’ve got this guy instead? SERIOUSLY!! The Cruz for the Driver!! 🙂

Court: Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle…he’s sexy & he knows it. That dance looks vaguely peacock-ish – like he’s showing us his fancy feathers.

Heidi: And the feathers are, like, really small cuz we only get a wiggle with a swing of about an inch and a half. 🙂  Or would it be really big feathers and you only have to do a tiny wiggle to get lots of feather shaking?? :::confused:::

Courtney: It’s the latter, dear.  Peacocks’ feathers span out so far that it kinda makes them top-heavy – if they shake ’em too hard, they fall over.  I’ve witnessed it 😉

The verdict: Is Donald brave enough to let us see his peacock? 😉

Our next contestant is this season’s resident heartthrob, William Levy, who is probably best known for being J. Lo’s man candy in her “I’m Into You” video.  But alas, some semi-rhythmic writhing on a beach doesn’t really count as “dancing”, so I found this clip, which appears to be from some telenovela – it’s completely in Spanish and it looks to have Russian or Greek subtitles (WTF?), but the basic gist appears to be that he and another beefcakey guy had their car break down on a dirt road, some other considerably less-beefcakey guy tried to fix it and failed, but thankfully a taxi full of middle-aged female tourists was driving by and stopped to offer assistance (and ogle the shirtless beefcakes)…and whilst fixing the car, the urge to dance hits William and he does a brief bit of salsa with one of the tourist ladies (1:39 mark):

Court: Telenovelas are funny 😛 I have no idea what the hell they’re saying, but the minute I heard one of the tourists yell “Guapo!” and gesture towards the 2 shirtless men –  I knew it was on, senor.  Gotta say – William doesn’t look totally inept.  He’s probably done at least a little salsa & merengue in his day – kinda like JR.  But he’s also a model, so he’s probably more used to standing still that moving around.  I predict lots of posing and Cheryl dancing around him this season 🙂

Heidi: He’s the one in the hat? Yeah…no fanbase in the US but it might not matter. 🙂 But he better be the second coming of Gilles. He had relatively little competition.

Vogue: I predict right now that William Levy will be one of the sexiest male dancers to have ever graced the Dancing With The Stars stage. What’s more, it will be a “natural” kind of sexy that he can’t help. He just has that “look” to melt hearts. If Cheryl can find a way to capitalize on that and make him into a dancer, watch out.

The verdict: William es un chico muy guapo! Mis pantalones estan en fuego!!!

We’ve saved the 2 strongest contenders for last.  First, let’s take a look at Roshon Fagen, who busts some pretty impressive moves at the end of a Radio Disney interview on the set of Shake it Up (2:00 mark):

And then Roshon assures us that he gets “Down on the Dance Flo” in this music video:

Heidi: Dude’s voice hasn’t even changed yet.  🙂  Also not impressed with his dancing here – mainly because someone was saying he’s a trained dancer. Trained in what kind of dancing, I have to ask.

Vogue: He’s young. He has lots of energy to burn. What’s more, he’s refreshing. I think Roshon is going to be a huge contender in this competition.

Court: Maybe formal hip-hop training? Idk…I don’t really know if there is such a thing. Ooh, that’s a hefty promise, Roshon – promising you get down on the dance floor? I hope you’re ready to deliver 🙂 Kid can certainly move, but can he translate that gyrating into a foxtrot? A waltz?

The verdict: Kid’s got potential…but can Chelsie harnass it?

Last but certainly not least, we have Jaleel White, who already seems to be the favorite to win this season for many of us.  Since Jaleel is best known from his days as Steve Urkel from Family Matters, I simply have to include a clip of his famous “Urkel dance” – which, surprise surprise, I cannot find an embedabble copy of him doing the original one on YouTube, so here he is doing it as Al’s date to the dance on Step By Step during a crossover episode (if you want to see the original, go here.) :

And more recently, here he is cutting a rug in Cee Lo Green’s “Cry Baby” video:

Vogue: I’m impressed. He’s got it all and a ‘smoothness” to boot. What’s more, I felt an automatic attraction with he and Kym during the cast announcement. This is going to be good. I’m really looking forward to these two.

Heidi:  Not bad, not bad. Lose the penis and dance with Derek and he’d be a ringer for sure!!

Courtney: I have to respect any man that played such a dork for so many years…and yet somehow seems uber-slick & smooth now 🙂 I’m actually kinda curious how much Jaleel is going to draw from his Urkel repertoire while on the show…I know he was really touchy about the whole Urkel thing for several years after Family Matters ended, because he was having a hard time finding roles because people couldn’t imagine him as anything other than Urkel.  Should be interesting to see if he pays homage to it, or avoids it completely.

The verdict: Do not underestimate the Urkel.

Stay tuned for our assessment of the female competitors later this week 😉
