Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week SIX – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Below is what we know so far for the new dances and Team Dances for Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Week 6 and note that it’s “Spring Break” Week.

ETA: We have our first song spoiler! Though I can’t say it’s exactly SPRING breaky… -Court-

ETA2: Figured I’d go ahead and confirm this one, since they were already strongly hinting at it in the live stream…oh, and apparently the teams have names now (pix below).  Sure hope Rumer’s team didn’t give themselves a headache coming up with such an original team name :-P

ETA3: Court, you were right. Carrie Ann is calling next week’s theme “Spring Break Extravaganza” according to her new blog.

ETA4: We don’t know what belongs to who, but we know the remaining dances for next week are (2) jives, a samba, a salsa, and a Viennese waltz. Discuss. :-)

ETA5: Well we managed to fill in the blanks based on what Just Jared posted. I think the music folks at DWTS and I have very different ideas of what a “spring break” song is, though – some of these seem more like summer break songs, and some seem…dumb.

ETA6: Per Artem in the live rehearsal stream, Patti has apparently switched to quickstep.  Hmmmm…perhaps the jive was too hard for her to barely move to?

ETA7: Not to be outdone, Riker has decided to change songs. See below. :::rolls eyes::: When can we go back to the good old days where you danced to what they gave you. That certainly told us who our choreographers were. Although, before that – years ago – the pros chose ALL the music. The pendulum swings… :-) ~Heidi

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week FIVE – Let’s Discuss Tonight’s Show!! (Spoilers)

Theme of the week: Disney. Thanks to watching some media I’ve had that damn “Step in Time” in my head all day. Couldn’t shake it when Charlie was dancing to it, it’s no better now. Grrrr…..

So, Teams are picked tonight for Team Dances next week, I understand. The current cumulative scores are:

Nastia – 134
Rumer – 132
Riker – 131
Willow – 128

Something to keep in mind while watching is how the scoring will impact the cumulative and how that will, in turn, impact the team captains. If it all goes to hell, they can always switch from cumulative score to the top 2 scorers of the night. They seem to change it to fit their needs.

Great opening number!! Loved it! All of it. They even managed to squeeze Derek in.

Okay, so Robert is safe and Suzanne is in jeopardy. Suzanne is getting the “I’m quitting” edit – don’t know if it means anything.

Well, Suzanne was doing really well up until the dress malfunction. Bummer. Don’t know if her scores would have gone higher or not though.

Man, shady camera work on Kym and Robert. Geez. Producers will stop at nothing,

Oh boy, Robert was off time the whole time. I have a feeling we might see how strong his fanbase is soon.

More results….Chris and Witney in Jeopardy. Willow is safe, Patti is in jeopardy. By my count that’s already three couples in Jeopardy.

Wonder if Patti is bowing out. She has such a great spirit. Not much dancing, but such wonderful energy.

While I loved the dance, I forgot what style it was supposed to be. Mark’s production was fun, but the dance really god lost in all that. I think this was one step too far. There wasn’t a lot of fluidity. This one could have gone either way.

Chris, eh. That’s gotta hurt. Think Witney is still getting used to not having Alfonso.

Nastia, Rumer, Riker and Noah all safe. Not hard to figure out with four already in jeopardy.

Sharna did a great job with that dance. Obviously, he didn’t do as much as others, but impressive. And good on Sharna for the talking to she gave Noah.

And Sharna does look like a Disney Princess. :-)

So, they tease the rest of the show saying they saved the best for last and showed Riker, Rumer and Nastia. Wonder who they’re going to have go last and then have the judges proclaim them the “best dance of the night”?? Rumer or Nastia?? Bets?

Holy cow – that was a good dance from Riker! And he is SO INTO being Captain Jack, ya gotta love it. :-)

Hmmm….I think I would have given Riker another 10. It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty damn good.

Oh boy, Rumer and Val are getting a really good edit. Or bad one, depending on your POV. But it sure doesn’t reflect what really happened.

WTF?? There was no Samba in that until the Samba roll. Best dance of the night? The fix is in for sure.

Wayyyyyy overscored.

Way to go Erin so she cuts off Val before he can get too pompous.

Deep throat was right – that was right out of a Disney Movie!!

OMG. Carrie Ann is going to dock them for poor lip syncing?? The fix is certainly all the way in. Rumer gets a 10 for a non-Samba. Nastia gets a 9 10 for poor lip syncing?? How the hell does anyone believe that Derek is favored on this show?? The two best dances of the night get seccond place and the non-samba that wasn’t even that well done gets first place?? Not at all rigged. Nope.

But Nastia is still in first place with cumulative score. :-) Of course, that probably means they’ll use the top scores of tonight and Rumer will be team 1. Sometimes I wonder why I continue to watch this extremely manipulated, over produced show.

Patti safe.

Suzanne eliminated.

DWTS Season 20, Week 4 – Dancing by the Numbers

Here we are, week 4 going into week 5 and the scoring wasn’t too horrendous. There was one glaring error in what was otherwise a relatively decent scoring/ranking by the judges and that was Willow’s 39. Now, don’t get me wrong. I like Willow. I liked the dance. My comments on the dance weren’t on the dance quality but the fact that I had hard time following it with all the other dancers involved.  In terms of dance quality, I defy anyone to convince me (won’t happen) that Willow’s dance was 3 points better than that amazing AT from Nastia or 4 points better than Rumer’s Waltz-ish dance. Was Willow on par with Nastia and Rumer?? Sure, I would buy that. She did a damn good job, in spite of my problems with the production. But 3 or 4 points *better*??  Um, no. Especially when you consider that there are fewer strict rules in a contemporary routine, which means it’s marginally easier to do.  Even if you claim that “Nastia is boring” or “Rumer is one note” that still doesn’t equate to 3 or 4 points difference. Or it shouldn’t. Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week FIVE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

So….the big question this week is….well, I don’t have a big question. TPTB are determined to spoil our fun and I’ve learned to accept it. For now. :-)

For anyone looking for the Disney week song prediction post, go here.

hETA: I’m going to qualify Willow & Mark’s song by saying it’s just a gut instinct based on some partial intel – simply because I can’t see Mark passing up the chance to dress up like the Mad Hatter, and I think Willow would make the perfect Alice :-) Take it with a grain of salt…besides, if my spidey sense is correct, Rob should be leaking the entire list soon anyway, just to flip us the bird ;-)

ETA2: According to an Afterbuzz TV interview, Sharna and Noah have a Fox Trot. ~Vogue

ETA2 and Correction: Suzanne and Tony have “He’s a Tramp” for their next dance song via her new blog.

ETA3: Updated with dances for Suzanne & Tony and Robert & Kim.

ETA4: Looks like there’s been some changes to the song lineup, and Rumer may have a different song and dance altogether – but I can’t get ahold of Deep Throat to confirm, so I would take this latest round of updates with a grain of salt.  Doing a bit of process of elimination over here…and apparently I have the title of Riker’s song wrong, but the one I had sounds about the same when you play them…hence my confusion…

ETA5: Courtney, good job!! ABC just posted all the songs. You were right on everything. ~Vogue

ETA6: Ok, confirmed with DT: Rumer has officially switched to samba, but the song is the same – possibly. ;-) This hasn’t been confirmed by DT, but I think Rumer might have the Jonas Brothers version of “Poor Unfortunate Souls”, which is actually pretty fun and campy…and has some semblence of a samba beat. Kinda makes me wonder if Val caught wind of everyone talking about Rumer being “one-note” and decided that it might behoove them to switch things up…regardless, DT thinks this change is “cooler and more interesting than a tango”.  8-)

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week FOUR – Let’s Discuss Tonight’s Show!! (Spoilers)

Theme of the week: Most Memorable Year….or some such thing. I expect to need tissues at least once. This can be either good….or very bad. :-D

Holy crap!! That was quite a start to the show!! And of course, Len picks it apart. No character of the dance? Spare me the narrative. I guess he got the producers notes.

LOL…I swear that Bruno ALWAYS does what he can to counteract Len. Happens all the time. :-)

Man, why did they go back to this way of doing the elimination?? Sucks.

Robert and Kym are safe, Riker and Michael are in jeopardy. Bites. Poor Peta looks like she might puke. Read more..

DWTS Season 20, Week 3 – Dancing by the Numbers

Now is when it starts to get real. No more low hanging fruit to be picked off – at least not in my opinion.  This is a week where I start off writing this post really not sure what’s going to happen.  The scoring didn’t seem too crazy – keeping in mind that I missed Michael’s dance and haven’t gone back yet to watch it. The rest of it seems pretty reasonable.  Chris is higher than I expected, so I guess Witney toning down the choreo to his level (which is what you’re supposed to do, really) paid off.  Part of me wonders if the judges thought he was going home and were being kind.  In any case, if I were ranking the couples, this is probably what I would have come up with, based on Monday night. Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week FOUR – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Grab ya kleenex and get ready for “Most Memorable Year” Week. :::sigh::: Anyone else remember the good old days when every single week didn’t have to have a theme?? I do.

Anyway, Vogue has been a workin’ fiend as per usual and the info we have so far on the dances comes from her Massive Media Roundup post….or in Sharna’s case, her blog. Mark and Willow’s dance is from something he said on Afterbuzz, which Vogue will put up as soon as she gets it.

And hey – at least they’re not all Rumbas.

ETA: Apparently it’s okay if someone other than us spoils the songs. Really ABC – Just Jared is a better option? Funny how no one cared about the songs until we started spoiling them a few seasons ago. Humph. Michael’s song already feels heart wrenching. Nastia’s song is so perfect for an AT that I wonder if it was her idea. I wonder about Chris’ also.

ETA2: Finally got Suzanne’s and Riker’s dances nailed down. According to Courtney, they could have gone several ways with those particular songs.

Nastia and Derek – Argentine Tango (Song: “Variations on Dark Eyes” by Lara St. John)

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week Three – Let’s Discuss Tonight’s Show!! (Spoilers)

Well, I don’t know about you all, but in this saga known as DWTS, I fully expect Rumer to get a tongue bath whether she deserves it or not, and Nastia/Riker/Willow (or any combination thereof) to get relentlessly nitpicked over something stupid…most likely something they have little control over, like music…in order to make sure the leaderboard changes up again. Anyone willing to take that bet?? :-D

Very nice opening pro dance!!

Already prepping the audience for leaderboard switchup.

What monkey dreamed up Disco Salsa, not that it will matter. Loved her outfit this week and the dance was very good. It was just so weird. Read more..

DWTS Season 20, Week 2 – Dancing by the Numbers

Well, DWTS Season 20 Week 2 is in the history books and it was a pretty good week. There was nothing that made me snort in disgust (from the judges, anyway) and a whole bunch of pretty darn good to great dancing.

But, as usual, someone has to go home on Monday night. Last week I was pretty clear when I said “Either Charlotte or Redfoo” and said my number 1 choice for most likely to be eliminated was Charlotte. I was pleasantly surprised to find that she was safe – most likely by 0.10 percent. No, I don’t believe Suzanne was a real bottom 2. For her to be a real bottom 2, it meant that Charlotte got nearly 10k more votes per million votes cast than her and that Redfoo did nearly that much – and there ain’t no way you’re convincing me of that. Nope. I think that’s highly unlikely.

Now, normally, I would automatically assume that Charlotte was definitely the next to go. But I’m not so sure that’s true. Why? Well, let’s look at all the scores. Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 20, Week THREE – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Okay, we’re trying something new. We’re putting this up on Tuesdays and updating as we find out information – as long as we’ll get no one in trouble, that is. :-) Note that next week is Latin Week. Below are some of the dances. Be sure to check out our Media post for new interviews.

ETA: ABC has released show information for March 30th. Listed below are the new songs for each couple. Be sure to read the link. It has some fun info on the opening number.
