Here we are, week 4 going into week 5 and the scoring wasn’t too horrendous. There was one glaring error in what was otherwise a relatively decent scoring/ranking by the judges and that was Willow’s 39. Now, don’t get me wrong. I like Willow. I liked the dance. My comments on the dance weren’t on the dance quality but the fact that I had hard time following it with all the other dancers involved. In terms of dance quality, I defy anyone to convince me (won’t happen) that Willow’s dance was 3 points better than that amazing AT from Nastia or 4 points better than Rumer’s Waltz-ish dance. Was Willow on par with Nastia and Rumer?? Sure, I would buy that. She did a damn good job, in spite of my problems with the production. But 3 or 4 points *better*?? Um, no. Especially when you consider that there are fewer strict rules in a contemporary routine, which means it’s marginally easier to do. Even if you claim that “Nastia is boring” or “Rumer is one note” that still doesn’t equate to 3 or 4 points difference. Or it shouldn’t. Read more..
So….the big question this week is….well, I don’t have a big question. TPTB are determined to spoil our fun and I’ve learned to accept it. For now.
For anyone looking for the Disney week song prediction post, go here.
hETA: I’m going to qualify Willow & Mark’s song by saying it’s just a gut instinct based on some partial intel – simply because I can’t see Mark passing up the chance to dress up like the Mad Hatter, and I think Willow would make the perfect Alice Take it with a grain of salt…besides, if my spidey sense is correct, Rob should be leaking the entire list soon anyway, just to flip us the bird 😉
ETA2: According to an Afterbuzz TV interview, Sharna and Noah have a Fox Trot. ~Vogue
ETA2 and Correction: Suzanne and Tony have “He’s a Tramp” for their next dance song via her new blog.
ETA3: Updated with dances for Suzanne & Tony and Robert & Kim.
ETA4: Looks like there’s been some changes to the song lineup, and Rumer may have a different song and dance altogether – but I can’t get ahold of Deep Throat to confirm, so I would take this latest round of updates with a grain of salt. Doing a bit of process of elimination over here…and apparently I have the title of Riker’s song wrong, but the one I had sounds about the same when you play them…hence my confusion…
ETA5: Courtney, good job!! ABC just posted all the songs. You were right on everything. ~Vogue
ETA6: Ok, confirmed with DT: Rumer has officially switched to samba, but the song is the same – possibly. 😉 This hasn’t been confirmed by DT, but I think Rumer might have the Jonas Brothers version of “Poor Unfortunate Souls”, which is actually pretty fun and campy…and has some semblence of a samba beat. Kinda makes me wonder if Val caught wind of everyone talking about Rumer being “one-note” and decided that it might behoove them to switch things up…regardless, DT thinks this change is “cooler and more interesting than a tango”. 😎
Theme of the week: Most Memorable Year….or some such thing. I expect to need tissues at least once. This can be either good….or very bad. 😀
Holy crap!! That was quite a start to the show!! And of course, Len picks it apart. No character of the dance? Spare me the narrative. I guess he got the producers notes.
LOL…I swear that Bruno ALWAYS does what he can to counteract Len. Happens all the time.
Man, why did they go back to this way of doing the elimination?? Sucks.
Robert and Kym are safe, Riker and Michael are in jeopardy. Bites. Poor Peta looks like she might puke. Read more..
Now is when it starts to get real. No more low hanging fruit to be picked off – at least not in my opinion. This is a week where I start off writing this post really not sure what’s going to happen. The scoring didn’t seem too crazy – keeping in mind that I missed Michael’s dance and haven’t gone back yet to watch it. The rest of it seems pretty reasonable. Chris is higher than I expected, so I guess Witney toning down the choreo to his level (which is what you’re supposed to do, really) paid off. Part of me wonders if the judges thought he was going home and were being kind. In any case, if I were ranking the couples, this is probably what I would have come up with, based on Monday night. Grab ya kleenex and get ready for “Most Memorable Year” Week. :::sigh::: Anyone else remember the good old days when every single week didn’t have to have a theme?? I do.
Anyway, Vogue has been a workin’ fiend as per usual and the info we have so far on the dances comes from her Massive Media Roundup post….or in Sharna’s case, her blog. Mark and Willow’s dance is from something he said on Afterbuzz, which Vogue will put up as soon as she gets it.
And hey – at least they’re not all Rumbas.
ETA: Apparently it’s okay if someone other than us spoils the songs. Really ABC – Just Jared is a better option? Funny how no one cared about the songs until we started spoiling them a few seasons ago. Humph. Michael’s song already feels heart wrenching. Nastia’s song is so perfect for an AT that I wonder if it was her idea. I wonder about Chris’ also.
ETA2: Finally got Suzanne’s and Riker’s dances nailed down. According to Courtney, they could have gone several ways with those particular songs.
Nastia and Derek – Argentine Tango (Song: “Variations on Dark Eyes” by Lara St. John)
Rumer and Val – Waltz (Song: “Turning Tables” by Adele)
Patti and Artem – Jazz (Song: “Dan Swit Me” by Patti LaBelle)
Willow and Mark – Contemporary (Song: “Atlas” by Coldplay)
Chris and Witney – Rumba (Song: “The Book of Love” by Gavin James)
Michael and Peta – Rumba (Song: “Not My Father’s Son” from “Kinky Boots”)
Noah and Sharna – Contemporary (Song: “American Soldier” by Toby Keith)
Robert and Kym – Waltz (Song: “The Last Waltz” by Engelbert Humperdinck)
Riker and Allison – Tango (Song: “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon)
Suzanne and Tony – Foxtrot (Song: “Three’s Company Theme” by Dominik Hauser)
Well, I don’t know about you all, but in this saga known as DWTS, I fully expect Rumer to get a tongue bath whether she deserves it or not, and Nastia/Riker/Willow (or any combination thereof) to get relentlessly nitpicked over something stupid…most likely something they have little control over, like music…in order to make sure the leaderboard changes up again. Anyone willing to take that bet?? 😀
Very nice opening pro dance!!
Already prepping the audience for leaderboard switchup.
What monkey dreamed up Disco Salsa, not that it will matter. Loved her outfit this week and the dance was very good. It was just so weird. Read more..
Well, DWTS Season 20 Week 2 is in the history books and it was a pretty good week. There was nothing that made me snort in disgust (from the judges, anyway) and a whole bunch of pretty darn good to great dancing.
But, as usual, someone has to go home on Monday night. Last week I was pretty clear when I said “Either Charlotte or Redfoo” and said my number 1 choice for most likely to be eliminated was Charlotte. I was pleasantly surprised to find that she was safe – most likely by 0.10 percent. No, I don’t believe Suzanne was a real bottom 2. For her to be a real bottom 2, it meant that Charlotte got nearly 10k more votes per million votes cast than her and that Redfoo did nearly that much – and there ain’t no way you’re convincing me of that. Nope. I think that’s highly unlikely.
Now, normally, I would automatically assume that Charlotte was definitely the next to go. But I’m not so sure that’s true. Why? Well, let’s look at all the scores. Read more..
Okay, we’re trying something new. We’re putting this up on Tuesdays and updating as we find out information – as long as we’ll get no one in trouble, that is. Note that next week is Latin Week. Below are some of the dances. Be sure to check out our Media post for new interviews.
ETA: ABC has released show information for March 30th. Listed below are the new songs for each couple. Be sure to read the link. It has some fun info on the opening number.
ETA2: Court tell us Willow and Mark have a Paso Doble!
Charlotte and Keo – Rumba (??) (“Empire” by Shakira)

So, who will go home? Who will be in jeopardy? Will there be a real bottom two?? These questions and more, answered tonight on DWTS.
More importantly, who will get the judges’ scorn and who will get pimped to high heaven?? Do we even need to ask these questions or is it a foregone conclusion? 😉
Not a great dance from Chris, but not horrendous – thing I like about Chris is that he GOES for it. He really, really tries and he wants to do it.
At least I can handle the Tony and Suzanne wardrobe this week…vastly improved routine too, although I doubt any other celebs or pros will get away with that amount of fluff in the beginning and in the end.
I love Robert and Kym, that is all.
LOL to Patti and Artem walking with Michael and Chris in Shades acting as body guards.
Aw, Charlotte, I love ya girl. And much better than last week. Amen to Julianne!
I liked Michael, but I liked his dance better last week.
“People are scared of us??” Well, Rumer, maybe you should be a bit scared. And humble. So, Len wants nmore recognizable Cha Cha but gives then an 8. This sounds familiar.
Vast improvement from Redfoo, but I don’t think I care for him at all. One point below Rumer?? Maybe he’s going home….
LOL…Mark is the perfect partner for Willow. And the 14 year old just did a pretty damn good AT.
Sharna is so beautiful. The hair/eye combo is amazing….and refreshing on this show.
I think Noah’s dance was also an improvement from last week!! But let’s not get carried away, Julianne.
Okay I’m crying. Wanna bet Nastia is next. They would put her after that.
Beautiful Rumba…beautiful. LOL Tom trying to skip CAI’s drama.
Who’s scared now, Rumer?? Watch your back for Willow and Nastia, hon.
Damn, Riker – well done. I’m impressed. Another contender.
OMG….I love Patti Labelle. The woman is COOL….
WhoooHOoooo Charlotte is safe!!
Chris and Witney are safe.
Redfoo is eliminated…it was NOT a real bottom two. Tryin’ to boost Suzanne’s votes a bit maybe….
So sorry that this has been much delayed this week – I’m still trying to catch up from my whirlwind trip to New York City. If anyone cares, I saw Book of Mormon, New York Spring Spectacular (twice) and Wicked. All were tremendous. As I was telling someone on Twitter, Derek actually sings as much as he dances in this show and that was a real treat. Great voice on that boy. My favorite line from the very sacrilegious Book of Mormon?? “Jesus thinks you’re a dick.” OMG, I laughed and laughed and laughed. Read more..
